Capítulo 33: Villageless?
The shined upon the horizon for uptime over the big city. The roosters started their songs starting the new day for the citizen.
Soon the ninjas exited from the inn that they were staying.
Kenji nodded towards the nara team and together they went towards the first district.
They've reached the guard department of the city where Hānzo waited for them in front of the gates.
"Good morning Hānzo."The nara woman said while she waved at Hānzo.
"So what's the situation."The Nara continued.
"I will show your way towards the village, and while we are walking I will explain the situation entirely.
The Nara woman nodded and the whole group went towards the west gate of the city. But while they were walking they detoured towards the bazaar, which was already full of people and stocks. The ninjas got whatever supplies they're needing and got to their way.
Soon they've reached the gate where Hānzo stopped to talk to the head captain of the guards.
"These people are the ninjas are the ninjas that our lord hired, when you see them, pass them without check." Hanzo said instructing the captain.
The captain looked at their faces and nodded then he let them trough.
The ninjas walked slowly while they were casually scouting the perimeter.
"So we are quite far start explaining Hānzo- san" the nara said as she looked towards Hānzo.
"Everything happened pretty fast, our guards department usually sends group of guards who pass trough all the villages every morning and every evening before sunset. To see if everything is ok. At the guard towers and the villages. After all the villages are not that far away from the city. The village we are going to is at ten Kilometres distance from Hiratsuka. Even the normal villages can go trough this path for four hours at best, and let's not talk about our well trained guards. If the situation is urgent, they will cross that distance for a hour at worst if the fire is started.
(Thats fire towers that are in couple of kilometres from each other. Their purpose is to warn the next tower who lights his fire and so on till they reach Hiratsuka. That's an ancient way of warning some encamped army or city or something like that of eventual attack or raid.)
But the strange part is that the fire wasn't started, there was no sings of blood or fight in the guard tower. After that we concluded that the guards also disappeared with the whole village. And that happed after the first patrol but before the second. Which means in one day a whole village disappeared. Without getting any supplies or food they just got up and and went away.
(Don't forget that happenes in winter, which makes the day even shorter.)
The adult ninjas looked at each other and started to look around seriously.
Kenji looked at Kimimaro while he touched his temple couple of times.
Kimimaro nodded and activated his byakugan but he found nothing except a murder of crows sitting on top of a naked tree around forty or fifty meters of them. Kimimaro looked at kenji and shaked his head.
Kenji nodded while making hand gestures to keep his eyes open.
Kimimaro agreed and didn't deactivate his byakugan scouting the region for any irregularities.
"Any steps in the snow?" The adult Yamanaka woman asked.
"Nope" Hānzo replied while he sighed helplessly.
"Anything other suspicious thing that you found?"
"Yes every document of the existence of these people was burned in the centre of the village." Hānzo replied.
"That's strange" the Amikichi man said while he eyed the crows near them.
"Yes thats a sign that we don't even need to bother to search for them." The nara woman said while she looked at the path ahead.
"Let's see the crime scene before we make any presumptions." She continued while she slowly started to up the tempo.
Everyone nodded while they started to follow her.
After half an hour they've reached the village. It was desolate, with the mist around the village that was slowly disappearing. There were no sound, except two crows above their heads croaking at each other while they were chasing a frightened sparrow.
