Capítulo 56: Bandits

The beginning of the journey was calm as they all used the Flickering Technique for a few minutes, managing to reach the first objective after some time alternating between movements. Ryo was the best at using the Shunshin, but Haruka and Denji were not used to using it as much, so the journey had a moderate speed.

"Look ahead," Kakashi said as the three young ninja looked ahead to see a large rice plantation. "The first mission will be to help the owners of the plantation plant rice. They've been short of workers lately." Ryo listened to this and immediately thought that he had no idea how to plant rice; all he knew was what he had seen in movies.

"It will be a quick task, and when we're done, we'll spend the night here." With that said, Team 13 approached the rice field where an old gray-haired man was waiting for them. "Oh! The Konoha ninjas, right on time! Come, come." Kakashi went ahead with the old man while discussing the details of the mission.

Ryo and the other two lagged behind as they conversed. "Rank D missions are always like this; I think we should take advantage while we can. Once we start a Rank C mission or higher, we'll have to fight against other ninjas and much more," Haruka said with a serious tone. She didn't find this situation bad, but one of them did.

"No, no, no. We need to start doing Rank C missions soon. I want to fight against other ninjas and bandits! Show them that Konoha is the best!" The young man spoke with a strong and motivated voice. Ryo chuckled lightly as he looked at him.

"We need to gain combat experience, Haruka. But I think Kakashi-sensei will take us on a mission like that when he thinks we're ready," Ryo said, increasing his pace to follow where the old man was leading them.

"Here, you'll have to clear the field so we can plant rice again. Since the last harvest, I haven't been able to get many workers for this. I don't know the reason yet, but few have shown up to work," the old man explained.

Ryo looked at the field; it was large, with half of it already planted with rice, and the other half still dry and full of debris, grass, and dirt. It wasn't a huge amount of work to do, but it would take the rest of the day to complete, possibly. "Alright. You three, Mr. Hiro here will explain what you need to do to clear the rice fields," Kakashi said before walking off to attend to something else.

The old man Hiro looked at the three young ninja as he opened a slight smile. "Young ninjas, you can call me Hiro. Come, follow me." Hiro began walking towards the rice field. "See these green plants and the stones? I need you to remove all of them from the field for me, preferably without using jutsus, as they could damage the soil and the neighboring crops. It's manual labor, but you three should be able to do it quickly!"

The three young ninja nodded and started working. Ryo crouched down, starting to pull out the green plants from the ground. "Denji, focus on the stones; I'll collect these plants first." He then looked at Haruka, but she was already collecting some stones and green grass. With that, the three began working on the first and not very exciting mission.

The mission had started in the afternoon, and the three continued in the field until the end of the day, just as it began to darken. Ryo, Denji, and Haruka were already tired from the manual labor, not that it was heavy work, but there were many small things to collect. They managed to finish everything and then walked to sit on a large bench, exhausted.

"Are you done already? Get ready to rest; we'll leave in the morning before the sun comes up," Kakashi, who had disappeared the whole afternoon, conveniently appeared just as the three finished the mission. Denji wanted to retort to Kakashi and say a few things, but Haruka held him down on the bench while covering his mouth; it was almost a comical anime scene, lacking only the white smoke cloud of their arguing.

The next morning;

Kakashi was on top of the house that had been made available for his team to spend the night. He had his book in hand, as if he were reading it, but he was actually thinking about what he had found during his small investigation in the afternoon.

"It's a rural village, not very large, but there aren't many people around. There should be more here, there are rumors of people disappearing in these areas. From what I've found out, they're young men with few connections, and if they disappeared, it wouldn't cause an immediate alarm."

It was a complicated situation that Kakashi saw there; he would send a letter to Konoha as soon as they arrived in Shukuba. Sighing, he flickered into Team 13's room, where the three were already standing, getting ready to start the new day. "Everyone ready?" The three responded yes before finishing making the beds so they could leave the place.

Kakashi had already finished the mission with old Hiro, and so Team 13 continued on their way to the next mission, which would be in a few villages further ahead. They still had to walk a lot to get there, but like the mission in Shukuba, they were walking on a long dirt road surrounded by a forest on both sides, with the sun penetrating the tree canopy, and the place was well lit.

"On missions where we leave Konoha and have to travel a long way, problems can occur along the way. Always stay alert while we walk, so you won't be caught off guard," Kakashi said as he walked ahead. He had noticed some movements up ahead, but he only alerted the ninjas under his command and didn't mention a possible combat to them.

On the other hand, Ryo sent out three waves from the gold coin, that traveled 300 meters ahead, and as they passed 250 meters, he could see a small group of people armed with what seemed to be swords.

"There's a group of armed people 250 meters ahead; there are eight of them," Ryo said as Denji and Haruka became alert. Denji grabbed his staff, and Haruka had some shurikens already prepared to throw if necessary. "Don't act prematurely; we'll assess the situation. If they're bandits, we can deal with them easily, but if there's a ninja among them, we'll have to be more careful," Kakashi said as he squinted ahead.

Team 13 was quickly approaching the location where the group of eight men was hidden, but at the last moment, the entire group split up, with two going to each side while Kakashi stayed in the middle, continuing to advance. The team had split up to flank the group of people.
