"Sakumo-senpai, these are two promising students I found while I was away—Haku and Kimimaro. I plan to take them under my wing," Yoichi said, entering the Hokage's office.
He noticed the standard mountain of paperwork on the Hokage's desk, but Sakumo had managed it well and was almost done.
"Haku, Kimimaro, I doubt these are just random finds, Yoichi-kun," Sakumo replied, his eyes lingering on the red dots on Kimimaro's forehead and his white hair. He recalled encountering the Kaguya clan during a mission and knew they had ties with the Hyūga clan, though now they belonged to different villages.
"I found them in the Land of Water. Haku, Kimimaro, wait for me outside," Yoichi instructed the boys before turning serious. "Our intelligence suggests the Kaguya clan plans to rebel against the Third Mizukage. Kimimaro was their secret weapon, potentially the strongest Shikotsumyaku user in their history."
"But now you've brought him here. The Kaguya clan must be furious," Sakumo couldn't help but laugh. However, his expression soon turned grave as he analyzed the situation. "The Kaguya clan is a powerful bloodline clan within Kirigakure. Why would they suddenly want to rebel? And why does Kirigakure show aggression towards us while still at war with Sunagakure?"
Yoichi knew the real culprit was Madara, manipulating events behind the scenes. Without Madara's interference, no one would recklessly use a tailed beast against another village, risking the permanent loss of the Three-Tails. "The Kaguya clan's rebellion was inevitable. The war has fueled hatred towards bloodline clans, and the Third Mizukage's Bloody Mist policy has caused significant losses among their talents. As for the rest, let's just say the Third Mizukage isn't thinking straight."
Sakumo sighed, "Governance is never easy." He then tapped the stack of papers on his desk. "Your recent mission was taxing, but I need your help more regularly now, Yoichi."
Seeing the mountain of paperwork, Yoichi couldn't help but grimace. "I've never seen Danzo handle these many files at the Hokage's office."
Sakumo laughed, "Consider it familiarization. Besides, there's no more Root for you to manage."
"By the way, Sakumo-senpai, how's Kakashi doing?"
"He's on a mission in the southern part of the Land of Fire. His team was assembled and sent off immediately."
After discussing a few more village matters, they touched upon the situation with Kusagakure and Takigakure. Their envoys had just left, agreeing to the terms of their defeat but requesting leniency on the war reparations and some adjustments to their standing ninja forces.
Sakumo allowed them a limit of 1,500 ninjas each but increased the reparations slightly, ensuring they wouldn't recover for at least three years and handed over 70% of their mission commissions to Konoha.
Leaving the Hokage's office, Yoichi handled the formalities for Haku and Kimimaro, officially making them Konoha citizens. On the way home, he considered building a house for them near his own but decided they should stay with him until they were older.
As they walked, many Uchiha clan members greeted them, curious about the two new faces. Yoichi explained they were his students who would be living with him.
Both Haku and Kimimaro's bloodline limits, Ice Release and Shikotsumyaku, were powerful in Kirigakure and needed proper training and supervision.
"Yoichi-sama, you're back. Who are they?" Mina greeted him, hugging him tightly. Noticing the two children, she stepped back and smiled warmly.
"Mina, these are my students, Haku and Kimimaro. They'll be living with us for now, and later, we'll build a house for them nearby."
"Hello, Haku, Kimimaro. I'm Mina, Yoichi's wife!" Mina's eyes sparkled with joy as she welcomed the children, who politely greeted her in return.
Mina soon learned about their backgrounds and felt a deep sympathy and connection with them. "Yoichi-sama, I'll take them shopping for clothes and necessities."
"Alright, I was planning to have Mikoto handle it," Yoichi replied.
"No need, I can manage," Mina insisted, flexing her arms playfully. Despite being eight months pregnant, her Uzumaki resilience and the integration of Hashirama's cells kept her strong and healthy.
Mikoto had also integrated Hashirama's cells, restoring much of her strength. Despite not fighting for nearly a decade, she still possessed jōnin-level skills and often trained with Itachi, ensuring she remained formidable.
With the next couple of months free from missions, Yoichi planned to set up an underground base near his home for his new alchemy endeavors. He was eager to test his newfound abilities.
He retrieved a thick book on herbs from their library and began studying it in the living room. "The Nara clan has a more comprehensive herbology compendium, but they rarely lend it out unless it's a life-threatening situation like Choji's."
Nonetheless, Yoichi was confident in his alchemy skills. He could identify and utilize various herbs, including those with toxic properties, to create powerful elixirs.
The door suddenly opened, and Yugito walked in, surprised to see Yoichi. "You're back already?"
"I was only gone a month. Tomorrow, we resume training. I'll be around for a while," Yoichi said, planning to use his Wood Clones for tasks, leaving his main body free to focus on alchemy.
"I haven't slacked off. I've been training daily," Yugito retorted, though she was secretly pleased.
"Good. Try this new soldier pill I made. It's more potent than the previous ones," Yoichi handed her two glossy, black pills.
"Why are they so dark? Did you make these... they aren't poisoned, are they?" Despite her skepticism, Yugito swallowed the pill, and within moments, she felt her chakra and stamina rapidly replenishing, almost as if she had undergone medical treatment. Her eyes widened in astonishment.
"An alchemy furnace… this should suffice," Yoichi examined the special furnace. Unlike Yaochen's world, where one controlled fire directly, Yoichi had to rely on precise chakra control and Godzilla's heat emission. Hand-casting flames was beyond his current capabilities.
"Let's start with something simple, like improving soldier pills," Yoichi decided, adjusting the formula slightly to enhance its effects and reduce side effects.
He had constructed an underground lab with Earth Release, supported by Wood Release for stability and ventilation. The first batch failed, as expected. But by the fourth attempt, Yoichi produced perfectly round, glossy pills that looked almost glazed.
"Success," he thought, testing one himself. The effects were immediate, though his natural recovery rate made it hard to gauge.
He decided to test them on someone who could provide clearer results.
