Capítulo 18: Chapter 18
"Before everyone are these three chunin who will be in charge of conducting the three separate specialties of ninjas. Ninjutsu, taijutsu and genjutsu. For each of these specializations, you just need to fight your examiner within those specializations. You will be graded based on your performance."
"Alright I will now call all of you forward one by one to conduct your test."
Yuu watched as students were called forward one by one. Each of these students would choose a specialty. Most chose ninjutsu and a few chose taijutsu. Very few chose genjutsu as their specialty. Yuu watched the performance of the students that chose ninjutsu and judging by their performance, was able to determine what level of power he should display. Yuu continued to watch the battles until finally it was his turn to step forward.
"Which specialty will you choose?" asked Seta Haru.
"Ninjutsu" said Yuu.
"Very well, face your chosen instructor."
Yuu nodded and walked towards the female shinobi and bowed after which the two faced each other in combat stances.
"Begin!"
Yuu backed away from his opponent before throwing three shuriken and forming hand seals at a moderate speed.
'Wind release: Projectile control'
The three shuriken travelled outwards before being guided by the winds in the air back towards the female chunin. The woman dodged the three shuriken and advanced towards Yuu while throwing out her own three kunai which Yuu quickly dodged by a hair's width and retreated by performing an aerial back flip. Yuu noticed in mid-air that the woman was already in the middle of forming hand signs. His hands twitched as his training and instincts made his body almost move instinctively to quickly defend himself with a more powerful technique however he remembered his plan and so his hands moved at an average speed forming hand signs to create a new Jutsu.
'Wind release: Spinning shield of Wind'
A shield of wind began to form in front of him however it was already too late.
'Lightning release: Lesser thunderbolt'
A small bolt of lightning collided with his quarter formed shield immediately shattering it and proceeded to collide into his chest sending him tumbling for a few meters on the ground before finally stopping. The front clothing on Yuu's chest where he had been struck had been burnt through leaving a circular hole straight to his chest where 2nd degree burns bordering on 3rd degree could be seen. His flesh, in the contact spot, was sizzling releasing the smell of burnt meat however this wasn't the greatest damage of lightning style Jutsus, that would be the shocks the technique send into one's body paralyzing and weakening it and filling the user with tremendous pain. This lightning Jutsu was a D-rank jutsu and since given the amount of chakra put into the jutsu, the jutsu would have seriously injured an ordinary person possibly and shocked him to unconsciousness if the person was very weak however Yuu possessed a mid chunin physique and hence while the jutsu had burnt off his skin and sent a jolt of electricity through his body inducing pain, he hadn't actually been seriously injured. In fact, Yuu felt that aside from the little pain brought from the lightning burns and shocks he was actually alright however he didn't choose to show that as instead he pretended to struggle to stand up, his entire body trembling due to after shock before falling back to the ground with a loud thud.
Seta, seeing Yuu struggle to even stand up, approached the boy and asked "Will you be able to continue your battle?"
Yuu struggled to lift his trembling head to look at the jonin instructor "No I think that's it for me" he stuttered.
Seta stared at Yuu for a few seconds before continuing "All right Yuu's battle is over."
Seta then called for a medical ninja to come and take away Yuu to be healed in the infirmary after which he continued the test for the rest of the students. Meanwhile in the infirmary Yuu could be seen lying on a bed while a medical ninja used the 'Mystical Palm technique – a technique that coated the user's hand in chakra which is sent into the user's body to accelerate healing' on his chest healing its wounds.
"Yuu Sakamoto" said the medical ninja after glancing at his wounds.
"Yes?....."
"I'm curious about something..."
Yuu sighed as he had already guessed the medical ninja's question "What is it?"
The medical ninja gave a hard look at Yuu "Why did you quit the exam so early?"
Yuu feigned ignorance "I don't understand what you mean"
Irritation flashed on the ninja's face "Yes you do. Why did you quit the exam despite such minor wounds. Even now as I glance at your body, I can already see it healing and diminishing the effects of the lightning release Jutsu which goes to show that you have a strong body. Such a wound while devastating in appearance is actually just a minor wound that doesn't hinder neither your movement nor chakra using capabilities."
"So why did you give up the test as I am sure that you too know the fact that you could easily continue should you wish?"
Yuu sighed as he contemplated what to answer. This was the reason why he didn't want to be healed by a medical ninja in the infirmary as he knew, since they too were watching the matches, that he would be questioned about this.
Just as Yuu was about to answer a knock was heard on the door of his treatment room attracting both of their attention.
"Come in" quickly said Yuu eager to get out of this conversation which didn't go unnoticed to the medical ninja.
The door opened to reveal a young-looking girl around Yuu's age with long brown hair and light brown eyes. She was beautiful but not overly so. She was dressed in a pink kimono with a pink sash around her waist while underneath it Yuu could see the outline of a wire mesh armour.
"Hello, might I speak with Yuu Sakamoto alone" said the girl in a polite voice with barely a smile on her face.
"And who might you be?" asked Yuu. He couldn't remember having met nor seen anyone that looked like this girl in front of him before.
"Have some respect you brat! Don't you recognize that this is Yakumo Kurama, heir of the Kurama clan!" shouted the male medical ninja as he forcibly grabbed Yuu's head and forced him to bow much to Yuu's annoyance.
"It's alright medical ninja-nim. I don't mind Yuu's behaviour." Said Yakumo, her polite smile still ever present.
"However, I would like to speak with him if you don't mind"
"Of course, not at all. I'll leave the two of you alone" said the medical ninja as he quickly left the room but not before glaring at Yuu with an expression that told him to behave.
