Capítulo 38: Daegu
Min Yoongi POV,
September 2, 2019,
"Yeobo, appa is coming", said Sofia standing up
"Huh?", I muttered looking at the direction Sofia was pointing at
"Appa, annyeong! Sorry to bother you", Sofia said bowing when my father came to us with a big smile on his face
"Ah, Sofia, annyeong! Ani, ani ... I'm not bothered at all", replied my father while patting Sofia's shoulder
"Appa, annyeong! How are you?", I greeted while bowing
"Yoongi~aah, I'm fine. I hope you both are also well. Me and your mom are glad you want to come visit us", my father said as he hugged me
"Sorry to bother you. You must be busy right now," I said while looking at his smiling face
"Ani, aniya ... I have free time today, gwaenchana. Kajja", he said taking us to the parking lot
"Appa, thank you...", said Sofia who was walking side by side with my father and chatting with him
I walked slowly behind them, dragging our suitcases while putting my phone back in my bag.
We just arrived in Daegu, my hometown. From today until the next 30 days, I and the other members will take a break from BTS activities. Since yesterday the members started spending their times individually.
RM returny to Ilsan to meet his family. Likewise with Jungkook and Jimin, they had return to Busan yesterday morning. Jhope and Jin also visited their parents' house. Meanwhile, V plans to go straight to Jeju island with the Wooga Squad (his Hwarang friends).
"How long will you stay here?", my father asked us when we were in the car
"Ummm maybe 5 or 6 days. I'm planning to take Sofia around Daegu, visiting the places we used to go to," I replied while wearing my seat belt
My father and I sat in the front while Sofia sat in the back seat alone.
"You will also visit your school?", asked my father again while driving the car slowly
"Yes, of course", I answered jawab
"I hope you will regain your memory after visiting those places, Sofia", my father said sincerely while looking at Sofia through the mirror
"Ye, appa. I hope so", replied Sofia, smiling looking back at my father
"Wow, I haven't been here in a long time. Why does it look different now?", I said excitedly while looking at the situation outside
"When was the last time you were here? 2 years ago?", asked my father frowning
"Yeah, 2 years ago. The last time I visited you was in 2017, summer 2017 to be exact", I said
"Jinjja? You haven't visited your parents for 2 years?", Sofia asked surprised
"Ani. But it's appa and oemma who visit me more often, right?", I asked turning to my father
"Yes. We visited Seoul last year, when you two got married. Then we followed you to England a few months ago", my father replied, remembering
"Yeah, right", I replied nodding my head
We continued to chat together for a few minutes when suddenly my dad said, "we're going to pass by your school, Yoongi~aah. Do you want to stop for a bit?".
"Huh? Now? Gwaencahana?", I asked doubtfully while looking at Sofia
"Ye, gwaenchana...", my father said again
"We'll stop by for a while, if you don't mind", I said smiling at Sofia who nodded her head
"Okay we'll stop by Taejeon elementary school!", said my father excitedly
Then my father turned the car to the right, in the distance, there's a tall building located on a hill. I turned my face to look at Sofia with a happy smile.
"Do you remember that building, Sobi?", I asked
"Huh?", Sofia furrowed her brows and shook her head lightly
"We used to walk up this hill to get to school", I said pointing to a shortcut in front of us
"Jinjja?", she said
Her eyes were busy seeing the tall buildings and paths in front of us through the car window.
When we passed the school gates, for some reason I felt my heart beating faster. I was so excited, hoping that our coming here would make Sofia remember something about our childhood.
A guard said that we were allowed to enter the school area, but we could not enter the school building, because it was Sunday and school was closed.
"We're here", my father said after parking his car in the school parking lot
"Kajja", I said taking Sofia and my dad out of the car
"Ani. Appa will be waiting here. You guys just walk around for a while. I heard a lot of ARMY came here too because of you", said my father chuckling
"Jinjja? daebak", Sofia said amazed
"Come on Sobi", I said as I got out of the car
Then I opened the passenger door, asking Sofia to get out of the car. She frowned at the school building in front of us. I can't guess what she's thinking right now, I hope it's a good thing.
I tilted my head, well, this school hasn't changed much, it's still the same as before, only the paint color has changed, it's more colorful now, I thought. Then I took her around the school, saw the school building up close and also saw a large soccer field in front of it.
"Look, your class used to be on the second floor and mine was on the 4th floor", pointing to a bright yellow 5-story building
"Jinjja?", she mumbled
Sofia carefully observed the 5-story building which was colored yellow and blue. She didn't say anything, though I guess her mind was full of things right now.
"Come here", I said as I grabbed her hand and led her to walk towards the school guardrail
"You see down there? There is a small playground. That's where we first met," I said with a smile, pointing to a playground located outside the school area.
She frowned as I felt her hand squeeze mine gently.
"Mianhae, I can't remember...", she said quietly
"Gwaencahan, I said that I would tell you everything ,right? In the past, I saw you crying on one of the swings. Then I approached you and asked what made you sad at that time", I said looking at the far playground in front of me
Sofia turned her face towards me while biting her lip.
"You said that no one wants to be friends with you in class, so I said that I will be your friend", I said looking at her face
"Yeobo...", she muttered with teary eyes
"I'm glad I greeted you at that time, so we can be friends and become what we are today", I said smiling happily
Sofia lowered her face and sighed.
"Gwaenchana, don't be sad. It must take time to remember it again... fighting !", I said as I pulled her into my arms
"Let's go back, dad will be waiting for us", I said after a few minutes we just stared at the empty school building and playground.
On the way to my parents' house, Sofia looked gloomy and became more quiet. She mostly stared out the window, looking at the buildings we passed.
Well, since 6 years ago my family no longer lives in our old house near the school area. I had bought them a new house close to the city center, where they ran a restaurant a few years ago.
"Okay, we have arrived", my father said as the car we were traveling in entered our yard
It was almost night, but the sky was still bright orange in front of us.
"Ok, welcome to our house, Sofia", my father said as he turned his face towards Sofia and smiled warmly
"Ye. Thanks for the ride, appa", replied Sofia smiling back
I got out of the car and started to unload our suitcases from the trunk of the car. Sofia and my father had already made their way to the entrance.
I looked at the one-story house painted white and brown in front of me, fruit trees and flowers were seen filling the yard and terrace of this house. Well, my mom and dad do like gardening in their spare time.
"Yoongi~aah, palli", called my father from the entrance
I quickly dragged my suitcase and walked briskly towards the entrance.
"I'm home!", I said as I entered the house
There was no answer from my mother, I saw in the living room my mother was welcoming Sofia warmly. I smiled and closed the door behind me.
"I'm glad you guys want to come visit our house. How was your trip? You must be tired... sit down let's sit", my mother said excitedly with a big smile
"Oemma, I'm home... why do you only welcome Sofia?", I complained as I walked over to her
"Ah, yoongi~aah, welcome. You should take Sofia to visit us often. How are you?", said my mother, opening her arms wide
"I'm fine. How about you, oemma?", I asked while rushing into her arms
"I'm fine too. You must be tired, right? Get some rest, dinner will be ready soon", she said as she let go of her hug
"Gwaenchana, I'm not tired. What are you cooking? I'm so hungry", I said walking towards the kitchen
"I made a soondae guk (blood sausage with noodles and vegetables soup)", replied my mother who took Sofia to the kitchen
"Oemma, you don't have to cook for us", said Sofia who had been sitting at the dining table
"Gwaenchana. My soondae guk was very famous in here, it's my mother's recipe. So you have to try it", said Yoongi's mother
"Ye. The soondae guk made by Yoongi's mom is the most delicious. We used to open a soondaeguk restaurant not far from here. And because of ARMY's enthusiasm, the restaurant was never empty. We were very grateful of course. But it made my wife tired and got sick. So with a heavy heart, we let go of the restaurant and asked our relatives to run it now", my father said to Sofia who was also sitting at the dining table
"that's too bad … but even so, oemma's health is the most important", replied Sofia looking at my mother gently
"Yes", answered my father
* woof woof
I turned my face excitedly when I heard a dog barking from the side of the house.
"Holly! Min Holly! Iri wa, iri waaaa (here, come hereeee) ...", I said with a little aegyo
I knelt down and stretched out my arms, waiting for the little brown dog to run up to me.
I made some weird noises when finally the little dog was on my lap. Gosh, I miss him so much. I was laughing as Holly started licking my face eagerly.
"Aaah, Kyeopta (cute)", I heard Sofia squealing happily
"You want to meet him?", I asked Sofia
I walked over to Sofia who nodded her head excitedly.
"Holly, she is Han Sofia … Sobi, he is Min Holly", I said as I sat beside Sofia holding a brown poodle on my lap
"Woof!", replied Holly
"Wow, he greeted you," said Yoongi's mother smiling happily
"Annyeong Holly! I'm Sofia, nice to meet you. I hope we can be friends", said Sofia holding one of Holly's legs with sparkling eyes and a smile on her face
"You have to be nice to Sofia, okay? She's my wife, look, she's beautiful isn't she?", I said while glancing at Sofia
"Yeobo ....", she muttered embarrassedly, glancing at my parents. "May I carry him?", she asked again
"Ye", I said as I handed Holly to her
"Aah, Kyeopta. Aigooo", Sofia screamed while holding Holly and gently stroking his body
I laughed seeing Holly trying to lick Sofia's face excitedly.
"Wow, he likes you ... Usually he's a bit grumpy at people he just met, but you seem to be an exception", said my father laughing at Holly's behavior
"Yeobo, please help me", my mother said to my father
"Let me help you, oemma ...", I said standing up
"Gomawo", said my mother
I helped my mother bring the bowls of soondaeguk and banchan (small plates containing side dishes) to the dining table. Sofia was still laughing while playing with Holly. I was relieved that she was finally happy again.
"Let's eat", my father said as he carried Holly from Sofia's lap
Then he put Holly on his little bed which was by the side door.
"Oemma thanks for the food", Sofia and I said at the same time
We had dinner while chatting and exchanging news. I'm so happy today. I guess I don't want anything in this world anymore, because I already have everything, Family, good friends, and an amazing career.
After dinner, we continued to chat and play with Holly in the living room. Then at 9 pm, my mom and dad insisted on telling us to rest.
And here we are now, sitting awkwardly in my room. I don't know why I feel nervous, even though we've slept in the same room at home for the past month.
"Uum, are you tired?", I asked while scratching behind my ear
"Yeah. Actually I'm a bit dizzy", said Sofia with a sigh
"Aigo, do you need medicine?", I asked as I walked up to her and knelt in front of her so that our faces were level
"Gwaenchana, I think I'll feel better if I sleep", she replied looking at me with a sad look
"Mianhae, we should get some rest after dinner earlier", I said while tucking her hair behind her ear
"Ani. Gwaenchana", she replied shaking her head. "Yeobo, thank you for everything. I feel very happy, your parents treat me like their own child. And Holly too ... gosh he's so cute", she said with a chuckle when talking about Holly
"Gomawo Sobi, for giving me a chance ... I'm also very happy tonight. I haven't seen my father and mother laugh so hard like that, they always love you, Sobi... and even Holly likes you right away haha", I said with a small laugh
"Get some rest, tomorrow I will take you to the hill behind the school, then visit our house when we're kids", I said then kissed her lips gently
"Ye. Gomawo", she said while caressing my face lovingly
We then changed clothes and climbed into bed. I don't really feel sleepy yet, I just keep her company and make sure she sleeps well.
I hugged her from behind (well, this is our favorite sleeping position) while stroking the back of her hand. I feel Sofia's breath slowly getting deeper, she must be asleep, I thought.
I closed my eyes and nuzzled my face into Sofia's nape and hair. Take a deep breath and think. Is it possible that her memory can return to normal? Or will she feel overwhelmed and make her feel even worst?
The questions kept running through my head, I can only hope that Sofia will be okay and that things will go smoothly for us.
