Capítulo 31: Is Dina pregnant?

Mike nodded his head and was about to leave when his hands touched Dina's stomach by mistake. His expression turned ghastly and with a shocking face, he stared at her abdomen.

Before anyone could notice that he was terrifyingly staring at her, he shifted his eyes away. He adjusted his facial expression instantly as he did not want others to notice his gloominess. He then dashed into Kara's room to bring her the medical kit.

Once inside the room, he held the sidewall and took several deep breaths to calm his nerves. 'No, this can't be true. How could this happen? What am I going to do?'

His eyes became blurry and he felt like he would lose his consciousness anytime soon. 'Why is this happening to me?' He punched the walls using both his hands.

'How could Dina be pregnant? Did I miss to protect her properly? I heard an extra heartbeat just now. Moreover, he felt that the fetus is already developing faster inside her, than any other normal baby.' He peeked his head outside and stared at her stomach area.

As he wanted to make sure that he heard it correctly, he went near her once again. She held one of her hands and then tried to keep his hand over her abdomen.

Kara noticed his empty hand and asked, "Mike, where is the medical kit that I asked you to bring?"

He didn't hear her as his concentration was on Dina's stomach. 'Yes, it is true, there is definitely a second heartbeat. I could hear it very clearly now.' He jumped back in fright and then came near her only to shake her shoulders vigorously.

"Dina, Dina… Wake up! What happened to you? You better get up and explain to me, what's going on," He demanded the unconscious Dina.

He patted her cheeks and tried to wake her up. But Dina did not move an inch. She looked like she was in a deep sleep and it's impossible to wake her up with normal methods.

"Dina… Dina… Please get up … If you don't then…" Before Mike could finish, Kara pulled him away and gave him a tight slap.

"Come out of your daze, Mike. Nothing will happen to her." Kara pushed him aside and went to bring the medical box.

She then rushed near her daughter and examined her. Her face turned pale and she kept on checking Dina's pulse and heart rate. She moved the stethoscope near her stomach and a very light heartbeat could be heard. Suddenly, she recalled a few incidents that came to her mind.

"Mike, I need your help…" Kara pulled Mike aside.

When Millie noticed how they both are behaving, she came near them with unsteady steps.

"What happened? What happened to my granddaughter?" She shook Kara's shoulders and asked in a terrorized voice.

Millie thought something was terribly wrong with Dina after looking at their ghost-stricken faces. If anything happens to Dina now, then they would get into so much trouble. More than that, she was concerned about her granddaughter's life. They had yet to get familiar with each other but now she contracted some incurable disease.

'What am I going to do?' Her heart increased and she suddenly felt too tired to even stand.

"What happened to her? Please tell me, why did she faint all of a sudden? Should we call for an ambulance?" Millie anxiously asked Kara.

Kara looked at Mike and then at Dina. She did not say anything to Millie as she was unsure whether her prediction was true or not.

Mike was in his own world as fear engulfed him. He shivered by just thinking about the possibilities.

'Was it that night, when I could not find her anywhere? I should have realized it sooner and reported this matter to my parents. I had doubts when I could not sense her anywhere in the city. But I did not think that someone could actually take advantage of this monster.' He looked at her with disapproval.

"Shit!" He cursed loudly.

As both the ladies were busy with their worry for Dina, they did not hear his cursing.

Usually, he would be able to detect her presence even if she was miles away if there was no median or ghost around. But that night, he felt like some strong force was blocking his view.

'I should have known that something was wrong and informed my parents. Now, I just don't know how I could face them. They may skin me alive. Dina… Stupid Dina… Do you know what sort of situation you pushed me into?' He glared at her.

Kara ignored Millie's anguish and walked near Mike. She pulled him away from Millie's hearing distance and whispered in his ears.

"Can you get a few pregnancy test kits? I know I should not ask you this! But are you the one who is responsible for this?" Kara asked Mike with despair, clearly visible in her voice.

Mike shook his head vigorously in fear that the blame would fall on his head. If it does, then he could say goodbye to finding his soulmate forever.

"Are you sure? Anyway, let us wait for the result first. I just have these doubts but I may be wrong. We will decide what we have to do next after the test," Kara suggested to him.

"What will you decide? Is my granddaughter really pregnant? And is this kid in front of us, the culprit?" Millie asked them in shock.

Kara and Mike turned around in terror and saw that Millie was standing just behind them. When she noticed Kara was ignoring her and trying to say something secretly to Mike, she followed them both quietly outside the house.

She had been listening to them with her ears perked up from the time Kara started to whisper to Mike. From their conversation, she understood that Dina might be pregnant. And the reason behind that was actually this handsome hunk in front of her.

She looked at Mike with judging eyes and glared at him. Mike continued to shake his head in all the possible directions to convince them that he was not the one who did this to Dina.

"No, no-no… I did not do anything! I am just her friend, I am not like that… Please trust me! It's not me!" Mike tried to change their mind and prove his innocence.

Mike sweated even more and a pool of water got collected under his leg because of the fright he had just received. He was already too afraid to even think of what punishment was awaiting him back home. Now he even had to take the blame for Dina's stupidity?

'Should I just run away from here to some faraway island and disappear forever? And never to return to this place ever again? But if Dina calls my name, even if I don't want to come, my body would still appear in front of her. Forget it, if it is written on my head that I have to live this life in suffering then there is nothing that could stop it from happening.' He left his life in fate's hand and hung his head low.
