============================================

10 Years Later:

It has been ten years since Isabel Smith has been reborn as Ashlyn Ketchum and she's enjoyed it too. Being the daughter of Delia Ketchum made her the happiest girl alive. She finally knew what it was like to have a real mom. Every other day, she would make sure to have a smile on her face for her. Her father, however, she couldn't really say much about him since he disappeared when she was four years old.

When Ashlyn was still a baby, she realized that she could understand Pokémon which was a shocker for her. You would be surprised what some Pokémon would be saying. However, that made her become closer to Pokémon. When she was five years old, she found an injured female Raichu near Prof. Oak's coral. She took her to Prof. Oak who was able to help her. After examining her, it turns out that the Raichu was a runt, so she was half the size that Raichu's usually are. Somehow the female Raichu got attached to Ashlyn as she was recovering. Ashlyn had asked her mom if Raichu could stay with her. Seeing how much the two were bonded, her mom let Raichu stay with her. So she named her Tesla.

Ashlyn became Prof. Oak's assistant when she was six years old. She learned everything about raising and training Pokémon from him and she enjoyed the experience. He even took her to some of the regions to meet the other professors. The first trip they went on was to the Kalos region where she got her second Pokémon partner.

It all started when Prof. Oak and Ashlyn went to the Kalos region to meet Prof. Sycamore who was researching Mega Evolution. When they arrived, Sycamore brought up the subject of an egg they found that hadn't hatched for almost a year. Both Professors didn't know what to do. Ashlyn simply asked if she could hold the egg. Sycamore didn't mind and let her hold the egg. Just a few seconds after she held it, the egg started to hatch. When the Pokémon was fully hatched, it turned out to be a Riolu, the pre-evolved form of Lucario. When Riolu first opened its eyes and saw Ashlyn, somehow they instantly connected. Seeing how quickly Ashlyn and Riolu bonded, Sycamore let Ashlyn have Riolu.

When they went to the Galar region, she gained another Pokémon companion, Yamper. Strangely enough the electric Pokémon reminded Ashlyn of a Corgi dog in her previous life. She met Yamper when she and Prof. Oak were eating lunch at a café. She could tell that he was a wild Yamper and gave him some of her food, which he really liked. Then the Pokémon followed her around after she and Prof. Oak left. Seeing that Yamper had no trainer, Ashlyn let the electric puppy Pokémon come with her. It was also funny enough that Riolu and Yamper got along.

True that she wasn't really following most of the show's timeline, but it didn't mean that she had to. She wanted to enjoy this new life of hers. Throughout her travels with Prof. Oak, Riolu had evolved into Lucario and Yamper evolved into Boltund.

Now let's get back to the present. At the moment, Ashlyn and Tesla were watching a Pokémon match on the TV in Ashlyn's bedroom. They both liked watching Pokémon battles and it always made them excited to go on their journey together which was tomorrow.

"Ashlyn, Tesla, time for bed." Delia appeared at Ashlyn's bedroom door.

Ashlyn's amber brown eyes glanced over at her clock, "Oh, it's that time already?"

"Yes, you have to get up tomorrow for your journey, Ashlyn." Delia reminded her.

"Raichu RaiRai Raichu (We should get to bed if we don't want to run into Gary tomorrow)." Tesla suggested.

"Good idea." Ashlyn agreed.

So Ashlyn and Tesla went to bed and Delia shut the light off for them.

===================================================

It was the next morning. Ashlyn and Tesla were getting ready to go. Ashlyn put her long black hair in a ponytail with a navy blue scrunchie and she wore a white shirt with a cyan line and a PokéBall symbol on it, black short sleeve undershirt, jean shorts, black leggings, and a pair of yellow and blue sneakers. She also wore cyan colored sports wristbands on her wrists. She picked up her light blue backpack with a blue PokéBall symbol on it. Then she and Tesla headed downstairs to get some breakfast.

"Morning, Sweetie, Tesla." Delia greeted Ashlyn and Tesla.

"Morning/Rai (Morning)." They greeted her back.

Delia laid out all of the food on the table and they all started eating breakfast.

"Excited for your journey, Ashlyn?" Delia asked.

"Yup, I felt like the day wouldn't arrive fast enough." Ashlyn smiled.

Delia chuckled, "I see."

"Will you be okay while I'm gone, mom?" Ashlyn asked, worried.

"Don't worry, I'll be fine," Delia assured, "I can always go to the Professor's ranch to interact with all the Pokémon there."

"That's great. You'll get to meet the Pokémon I captured." Ashlyn said, relieved.

"I can't wait to meet them." Delia said with excitement.

Soon enough, breakfast was over and Ashlyn helped clean up.

"RaiRai Raichu (Ashlyn, we have to get going if we want to avoid Gary)." Tesla reminded her.

"Oh right, we'll meet afterwards?" Ashlyn asked.

"Of course." Delia smiled.

"Alright, see you!" Ashlyn said before she rushed out of the door with Tesla behind her.

================================================

Ashlyn and Tesla soon arrived at Prof. Oak's lab. Ashlyn only had to knock once until Prof. Oak appeared at the door.

"Ashlyn, you're early. Just as I expected." Prof. Oak smiled.

"Yeah, I did beat Gary, right?" Ashlyn asked.

"Yup, but I know that he'll be up very soon. So let's get you ready for your journey." Prof. Oak announced.

"Couldn't agree with you more, Professor." Ashlyn agreed as she and Tesla followed Prof. Oak into his lab.

As they walked in, they noticed the table that had three Pokéballs on it. The first one had a leaf sticker, the second had a water sticker, and the third had a flame sticker. Then the two saw Prof. Oak bring out a few things.

"Before I give you your Pokédex, I got you something." Prof. Oak took out a Pokéball from his coat pocket and released the Pokémon.

"A Rockruff. Where did you get it?" Ashlyn knelt down and Rockruff jumped onto her and nuzzled against her, "Wait a minute, you're the same Rockruff who was living with Prof. Kukui."

Rockruff nodded, "Rockruff! Rockruff! (Hi Ashlyn! It's good to see you again!)"

"My cousin and Prof. Kukui wanted to give him to you before you leave for your journey." Prof. Oak said, "Kukui remembered how you two got along so easily when you first visited the Alola region."

"Well, I'm glad that he's coming with me." Ashlyn admitted as she held Rockruff in her arms.

"So will you let Rockruff be your starter?" Prof. Oak asked.

"I will be glad to." Ashlyn smiled.

Rockruff barked happily.

"Alright then, let me give you a few things before you head out." Prof. Oak said, picking up a tray from a table, "Here's your Pokéballs, a bracelet with a Mega Stone for Lucario, a Key Stone necklace, and a smartphone."

"Really? You're giving me a Mega Stone and Key Stone?" Ashlyn questioned.

"Yes. I know that Lucario wants to Mega Evolve. So Prof. Sycamore sent these items as a gift." Prof. Oak answered.

"Thank you." Ashlyn thanked him as she put the necklace around her neck, put the Mega Stone bracelet in her bag, and took the blue smartphone.

"Oh, there's something that that smartphone needs." Prof. Oak said.

"What is it?" Ashlyn asked.

Prof. Oak took out another Pokéball from his other pocket and released a Pokémon that Ashlyn easily recognized.

"A Rotom!" Ashlyn said.

"Yup. Now, hold your phone out." Prof. Oak instructed.

Ashlyn held her phone out and Rotom flew into the phone. She turned the phone over and saw a Rotom face on the back.

"Is this a Rotom phone?" Ashlyn asked.

"Yes it is. I want you to do a test run with it." Prof. Oak replied.

"Test run?" Ashlyn blinked.

"From what I've heard, many trainers are getting tired of using the plain Kanto Region Pokédex. So I thought I give the Rotom Phone a try." Prof. Oak explained. "You're able to scan Pokémon from the Kanto Region to the Galar. There's also an extra feature in it."

"What is it?" Ashlyn asked.

"You can switch or transfer Pokémon to my lab instead of finding a Pokémon Center to do it." Prof. Oak told her.

"Really? Thank you!" Ashlyn smiled before she looked at Prof. Oak, "But why?"

"Consider it a gift for all of your hard work at my ranch. Besides, I have a feeling that you might encounter a lot of Pokémon outside of the Kanto region." Prof. Oak smiled.

"Letting me work as your apprentice/assistant and learning about Pokémon from you was rewarding enough, Professor Oak." Ashlyn protested.

"Always the humble one." Prof. Oak teased which caused Ashlyn to slightly blush in embarrassment as she rubbed the back of my head.

"Why don't you try it out?" Prof. Oak suggested.

Ashlyn turned to Telsa and took out the Rotom Phone.

[Raichu, the mouse Pokémon. The evolved form of Pikachu. It can shock its enemies with more than 100,000 volts.

Gender: Female

Then turned to Rockruff.

[Rockruff, the Puppy Pokémon. A Rock type. Rockruff have lived with humans since ancient times. They train themselves by running around. Rockruff evolves into Lycanroc, which has two different forms based on when it evolves. It evolves into Midday Form Lycanroc during the day and Midnight Form Lycanroc during the night. Furthermore, when it gets close to evolving, Rockruff's temperament becomes more aggressive, and it tends to act more independent. It's common for it to disappear and then return after it has evolved.

Gender: Male

Ability: Vital Spirit, Keen Eye

Moves: Leer, Tackle, Sand Attack, Double Team, Howl, Bite, Rock Tomb, Rock Slide, Crunch, Stealth Rock, Endeavor, Last Resort, Thrash]

"You two have impressive moves." Ashlyn smiled.

Tesla and Rockruff smiled back.

"Now here are eight empty Pokéballs." Prof. Oak presented eight Pokéballs on a tray to Ashlyn.

"Why are you giving me eight Pokéballs instead of two?" Ashlyn asked.

"I also have the feeling that you'll catch amazing Pokémon, Ashlyn." Oak replied, "And I'm giving you an egg incubator because you'll need one in case you do find a Pokémon egg."

Ashlyn sighed, knowing that he won't let her refuse. So she put her Rotom phone in her pocket, returned Rockruff into his Pokéball and placed it on her belt with the empty Pokéballs, and the egg incubator in her bag.

"Are you ready, Tesla?" Ashlyn turned to Tesla.

"Raichu! (Ready when you are!)" Tesla said with excitement.

Ashlyn nodded and turned to Prof. Oak, "Thanks for everything, Professor."

Then they noticed a crowd at the bottom of the stairs.

=================================

When they got outside, Ashlyn saw her mom amongst the crowd, waiting for them.

"Mom, what are you doing here?" Ashlyn asked.

"Oh I came here to wish you good luck on your journey. But also to say goodbye." Mom replied.

Ashlyn smiled at her mom.

"Look out for my daughter, Tesla." Mom said.

Tesla nodded.

"Don't worry, I'll call you when we reach Viridian City." Ashlyn assured her.

"You better. The more you call, the less worried I become." Delia said.

"Alright, mom." Ashlyn hugged her mom one last time. Then stepped back, "See you later, mom!"

Delia nodded with a smile as she watched her daughter and her Pokémon walk towards Route 1. She stopped and turned to wave at her before continuing on.
