Capítulo 4: Waking up a Storm (part-2)
*Knight mansion, Westchester*
*Alfred POV*
My name is Alfred Pennyworth and I am proud to say I am the butler of the Knight family. At least I was proud. Now-a-days my life feels like a cold night waiting for a sun to light it up. I used to be a special agent during and after World War II. But due to a leg injury I had to retire. It wasn't a serious injury, I knew that. I could have been fit and back at job in half a year. But my higher-ups thought I was advancing too fast and since I was known to be unruly, they kicked me out.
That's when I met Mr. Thomas Knight. He was a kind hearted noble who had many doctorates and occasionally used to help the poor. Because of my time at army I was still skeptical of that man but seeing his noble heart melted my cold heart as well.
He never fell in love because all who wanted him was because of his money. That's when he met Martha Sharma. She was a scientist and a businesswoman but under her cold outer look was a kind and gentle lady who loved to help others. They fell in love and soon decided to marry, but because of some pressure in Britain who wanted their daughters to marry him, he decided to move to America.
Here he made a good friend Howard Stark. He was a well known businessman and Stark Industries was well known for their technologies, especially the weapons department. I was a bit skeptical because of this but found out he was part of a govt. organization found after SSR and he had to make weapons for the US government to let this organization function. I also made friends with Jarvis, his butler. We hit off pretty well.
The also had a son named Anthony Stark. Master Tony was a playful yet smart child for his age. he constantly showed intelligence way ahead of his peers. Even I had to back down on some of his questions. Those were fun times. Jarvis passing away was a sad moment in our lives. Soon master Tony developed an virtual intelligence and named him JARVIS after him. We were very surprised since this was a big leap in technology. Mater Howard and master Tony had a bit of a bad relationship because he tried to neglect him to help him grow independent while master Tony did his absolute best to make him proud but he never showed it.
The year 1994 was a very auspicious year for me this year miss Martha finally gave birth to a very healthy boy. He had black hair like his mother and blue eyes like his father. This was the year Alexander Knight was born.
But 1995 was when tragedy struck us. Master Howard and Maria died in a car accident( AN- in cannon it is 1991 but I changed it here).This was a big blow , especially for master Tony. He was in shock for a long time and started building distrusting relationship with everyone but a select few. We were a part of the select few. Master Alex spending time with him really helped him out a lot. Master Thomas became a support for him to help him move forward. Soon master Tony left to continue his studies.
It has only been barely four years when another tragedy struck, and this one was a big blow to me. Master left with his family on a trip to a nearby zoo for master Alex. Soon in the evening the whether started turning for worse. I was having a bad feeling when I got a call that shook my world. The knights had a car accident and were admitted. I made there as fast as I could get but I could barely make it in time. By the time I got there master Thomas had passed away while miss Martha looked towards me and said Master Alex's name and passed away. I was heartbroken yet steeled myself to support young master Alex. He had a head injury and one in leg and was extremely weak but stabilized. I reached there and saw him resting. He opened his eyes to look at me but I soothed him to sleep.
I thought it will be fine but the next thing rocked my world. Some doctors started calling master Alex pitiful for losing his parents. I was about to give them a piece of my mind, but then I saw young master look towards that door in shock. I was about to console him when he suddenly fainted and his vitals started dropping. The doctors hurried him to stabilize him but they discovered that he went in a coma because of extreme shock and head injury. That's when my whole world broke apart. I lost my master and miss now the young master was in coma. I was sad and I didn't know when I reached the doctor who called master Alex pitiful and started chocking him. The doctors manage to remove me from him but then master Tony came rushing in.
He came here to surprise master Alex on his birthday but wasn't ready for what happened. Master Alex was like a little brother to him. He destroyed that doctors life and helped master Alex get the best treatment possible. Dr. Osborn was doctor who master Thomas supported for a while to build his company. He stated his best doctors to stabilize him but it was too late. Master Alex had descended to a coma.
He was shifted back to the mansion when he stabilized. Top level security and medication were constantly called to keep him healthy at all costs. Master Tony made a device to keep me posted of his vitals even when I was in another part of the mansion . Master Alex wasn't even able to take part in his parents funeral. It has been two years since that day. Master Stark occasionally visits with miss Potts to keep a check on him. Master Osborn unfortunately hasn't been the same since his wife's death.
Today I was overlooking the mansion workers to clean it up. It was young masters birthday. He has just turned seven. All the mansion workers were those who master Thomas had helped and the work here in respect of him and attend to master Alex.
'Master Tony would be coming soon' I thought when suddenly the device of master Alex's vitals started beeping. I as well as all nearby workers were stunned. We came out of shock and hurriedly ran towards him. Suddenly wind started rushing and thunder started crackling over the mansion. I didn't know but it was happening in many places over the world. But this storm somehow gave me the feeling of hope. I felt like a sun had finally started rising in this old man's heart.
We reached the room to find out his vitals started spiking, breathing turning heavy and his mind condition starting to stabilize. Some who work here were also past doctors and nurses, they started monitoring everything. Master Stark hurriedly entered the room with tears in his eyes which were lit with hope. I didn't realize before but I was in the same condition as him.
Soon what felt like eternity went past. Sun started coming out of the clouds, birds singing as if welcoming someone. Young master's vitals finally stabilized and his eyes started to twitch. Soon they opened. Those blue eyes that stared at me with curiosity when he was just born opened again.
All of us finally released our breath we didn't even know we were holding. Then those eyes finally adjusted to the light slowly turned towards everyone and finally landed back on me and master Tony and widened.
I was finally able to speak up" Welcome Back Master Alex."
While master Tony said, " You really went to a long sleep didn't you kid... Good to see you awake."
