12.64% My Lazy Ass Reincarnated Into a Modern World / Chapter 10: Punishment

Capítulo 10: Punishment

'Uh? I'm bleeding... how?' Ayo wondered, staring at his hand covered in blood. The excruciating pain in his belly, the repulsive smell of the room, and the agonizing feeling of impending doom left him disoriented. It was a pain he had experienced before, one that brought back haunting memories of betrayal and despair.

He desperately wanted to flee, even with his stomach wound, he intended to crawl away, but the searing pain rendered him immobile. The blood continued to flow, staining the floor around him, and the crushing weight on his mental strength intensified.

Ayo, or rather, Frinchell, was a man known for his exceptional mental fortitude. He could maintain composure in the face of danger like no other. But the betrayal of his friend had left a scar deeper than he had realized, one he had been avoiding. He resented the system in this moment of despair, wanting to tear it apart.

[This is a time loop where you will repeatedly face the trauma of your death]

"You're saying Adelaide got defeated by that boy?" A muscular man in a pool asked, flanked by two bikini-clad women.

"Yes, sir," the man standing by the pool responded, dressed in a black suit and sunglasses.

"Were we misinformed?"

"There's a high probability. Anyway, he keeps demanding compensation. It's true that his sect must not find out he's involved with us and that he was defeated by an unknown boy," the man in the suit explained.

"Is he out of his mind? He should be begging us to keep his secret. How dare he ask for compensation?"

"Exactly, sir. He seems rather eccentric. He doesn't seem to care if his sect finds out; he's just using it as an excuse to extort more money from us," the suited man replied, bowing as his boss emerged from the pool. The boss had a massive, perfectly sculpted body, and the water rippled as he moved. His muscles were formidable, his arms looked capable of toppling pillars with a single blow, and a linear scar ran from his chest to below his abdomen.

"Set up a meeting with the client. I cannot accept this," he declared as he draped a towel around his neck.

"Aaaarrghh!" Ayo woke up with a loud, pained scream. He looked around in confusion, gasping for breath. It took him a moment to realize that he was back in the familiar surroundings of his aunt's house.

"Ayo! What happened?!" his aunt rushed in, deeply concerned, with Dara trailing behind her, seemingly unfazed.

"I'm fine... I just had a really bad dream." '...yes, it must have been a terrible dream.'

"Are you sure you're okay? Shouldn't we take you to the hospital?"

"Don't worry, I'm fine." Ayo replied, still covering his face with his hand.

"How did I end up here?" he asked, trying to make sense of his surroundings.

"You fell asleep in the living room, and no matter how hard I tried to wake you, you wouldn't budge, so I carried you in," his aunt explained.

A sheet covered his face as he sighed in relief. 'It must have been a dream.'

About to leave, his cousin smirked.

"Please, Aunt, can you give me a moment?" Ayo requested, still covering his face with his hand.

She nodded and exited the room with Dara, who attempted to peek through the door.

"Mom, just let him be..."

"Do you think he's upset because I carried him?"

"He's probably embarrassed... boys these days don't like that kind of stuff, especially when the woman is as... attractive as you."

Shola smiled, "So, you think I'm attractive?"

"Don't push it, Mom," she replied playfully and walked away, with her mother following her.

"Hey, System, don't mess with me... what's going on?"

[That was the consequence of failing the quest.]

"Hey, I get it, I've been lazy and all, but I promise I'll try harder. So, don't do that again."

[User can laze around as much as he wants.]

[What matters to the system is quest completion.]

[That was the minimum level of punishment.]

[From now on, it'll get tougher.]

[You'll wish you hadn't reincarnated.]

[I'll make your life a living hell.]

"Come on, man!"

[New Update!!]

[Daily quest]

> Complete 100 push-ups

> Complete 100 pull-ups

> Run 10km

> Quest reward: 10 stat points, 10 experience points, 100 points.

> Quest Failure: Survive on the zeroth floor of the TOWER for ten hours.

"Hey, you already gave me this and punished me for not completing it. Why is it back?"

[Time remaining: 3 hours, 23 minutes, and 55 seconds]

[User has three hours left for the day.]

"Damn this system!" Ayo shouted and immediately dropped to the floor.

"One!"

"Two!"

"Three!"

"Four!"

At this point, his hands began to tremble.

'Wait, why is this body giving out after only four push-ups? Damn it, I should switch and not waste time.'

He switched to pull-ups but managed only ten. Despite it being nighttime, he dashed out of the house and began running, and running, and running.

[New Alert!!]

[The day has ended.]

[You have failed the quest.]

[You will be sent to the zeroth floor of the TOWER.]

"Ahh!! Please!!" Ayo screamed as he vanished from his surroundings.
