After getting Jess some Ice-cream and taking her back home. Technobabble called me again for the ground work of vigilantism. We needed me to do some of the things to get Kate to believe what she wanted. Now my question was where was I going? Technobabble didn't give me any information other then the place.
Scratching the back of my head I stared at the very normal looking house. Before I even had the try to ask if this was the right place, Technobabble spoke.
"^This is the right place, break in, handle the occupancy, make a scene, the cops will handle the rest.^"
"Why don't the cops handle this in the first place?"
"^They need a warrant, they failed three times. So by you interfering it becomes a different issue which opens the case up freely. Fits a motive of your previous actions.^"
"Alrighty then."
Stepping forward I checked the the house. From what I could see their was a man laying in bed. He had a basement though filled with what looked like dogs. I couldn't really tell, I guess I really did just have to break in.
Looking at the door I could just break it. Silence the sound that comes from it and walk in. Though... Perhaps this was a good opportunity for testing the strange energy my body converted things I absorbed into. Crafting a cylinder of the energy I slid it into the lock. From there the energy molded into the key and unlocked it.
That was surprisingly easy and interesting. It acted like a filter or a wax cast. Pushing open the door I had to question what else I could do with the crafted energy. I could make it produce the side effects of other energies as well like cast light or power electronics like electricity. Even making things burn or melt with the energy was possible.
Entering the house I guess I should check the basement first. If something was down there I could just silence it and go deal with the guy. The basement was locked as well so I unlocked it as well. Walking down the stairs I silenced everything.
Now that I opened the basement I realized it was strange for a home to have a basement. Coming down all the way I created a small light bulb. A bunch of cages were lined up with some sort of dogs. They looked like dogs, but they were... empty. Many of them were injured or hurt. One of the dogs was covered in scars and was missing half their fur. They were all just completely still.
Walking back up the stairs I headed over to the bedroom that the man was in. How should I even handle this? This guy was likely part of some dog fighting ring. The dogs were scarred and torn up. Though if 3 warrants failed they likely couldn't pin him for it. He could pose as a dog breeder or something?
I sighed and grabbed the man by the throat. He woke up pretty quickly, but it didn't matter. He fought against me, but thanks to my quirk I was far stronger then him. I could feel his breath slow and he stopped his struggling. The guy was smart though and tried to pretend to pass out. I kept holding him down though. Eventually he stopped completely and passed out.
I dragged him out of the bed and pinned him to the bed post. It was made of metal so I could bend it into place to hold him. I radioed to Technobabble, "Done with the guy how should I make a scene?"
It took a second, but he answered. "^Release the dogs maybe? It is up to you buddy.^"
That didn't help much. So I guess it was up to me. The dogs down stairs still were frozen in place like robots. So I had to something else, I could set a fire? That could kill the guy though and pretty sure it would be more helpful for him to be arrested rather than dead. I guess I could just create a giant beam of light and see who shows up.
Firing a literal beacon into the sky I could see a few of the neighbors turn on their own lights. Technobabble spoke again. "^That was blinding, the name Kate came up with leave something as a calling card like she wanted. Once done leave or you can watch the cops show up. I am about to call them and talk about your beacon.^"
I could do that, so walking to the front of the house I burned the words Tarot Cards into the building. Smoke started to rise from the new decorations and I walked away from the area. Taking off my mask and causing myself to sweat. I would pretend to walk up to the scene in a bit. I was curious on what Technobabble had found with this.
I looked at my clothes and decided I should change my shirt and pants to look like a jogging or track outfit. It would be odd for a person to go on a run at midnight, but some excuses could be made.
