"Is it dead?" Evelyn was the first to speak standing further away from us in front of Leon whose eyes were wide with shock.
"I think so" I said walking closer toward the disgusting corpses and nodding at Ella.
She nodded back and together we approached the demon's body. Ella didn't hesitate as she held out her hand and a white light appeared, The light was beautiful and peaceful before it enveloped the demon's remains.
The demon's body began to disintegrate turning to dust right before our eyes. We all watched in silence as the last remnants of the demon vanished leaving nothing behind but the echoes of its final words.
"We did it" I spoke after a couple seconds feeling a sense of relief wash over me.
For the first time it felt like everything we had been through was worth it. The sacrifices that were made weren't in vain and all the pain I had suffered…., I could only look around with my gaze landing on Ella, Nessa, The duchess and Evelyn with joy and happiness filling the air.
"We've just killed a demon general" I said with my voice filled with a sense of accomplishment.
"We've shown that we can stand against the darkness and we will continue to fight for what's right" The words sounded cheesy but they felt right in the moment and I knew the others agreed as they glanced at me.
"We'll keep fighting no matter what comes our way." Ella nodded with her eyes shining with determination.
"Together we are stronger than any challenge we face" The Duchess smiled as her eyes filled with pride.
"W~We will not be defeated." Nessa stepped forward with a newfound confidence as she smiled brightly.
As we stood there with the sun setting behind us, we knew that the road ahead would be difficult. But we were ready to face it together united in our purpose and our determination to protect our world from the darkness that threatened to consume it.
"U~um I have to pee again" Unfortunately the moment was ruined by Evelyn who looked at me with an embarrassed gaze.

The room was filled with the warm glow of lantern light and the sound of laughter as we celebrated our victory over the demon general. Cups clinked together in toasts and the tension of the past few days seemed to melt away, replaced by a sense of camaraderie and triumph.
"The demon general was just the first," Ella said with slightly rosy cheeks taking a sip from her glass.
Ella's sky blue eyes sparkled with the excitement of the battle won and the challenges ahead. She looked beautiful with her flushed cheeks to the point I felt my heart racing, Another reason for that could have been all the liquor I had drunk.
"Y-yes! Tomorrow we go after the demon king!" Nessa looked even more intoxicated as she raised her arms and cheered nearly spilling her drink in the process.
"Calm down" the Duchess sighed downing the rest of her drink with a practiced and graceful ease.
"We still have a long way to go before we challenge that monster" Her tone was serious as she placed her cup on the table and pushed it away as if she was done for the night.
"Is the demon king really that powerful?" Leon suddenly interrupted while setting his glass down with narrowed eyes.
"Have you ever heard of the void zone?" The Duchess's face turned grim as she glanced toward Leon.
"That area in the east where no crops can grow and people get sick if they stay too long?" Leon nodded with recognition.
"There used to be a city in that area just as big as the capital" I continued on for the Duchess as my voice was heavy with the weight of the story.
"And yet with one spell it was wiped from the face of the planet." I felt goosebumps trail up my arms as I remembered seeing the void zone for the first time.
"I see" Leon said with a slight hint of fear crossing his face that was quickly masked and hidden by his usual unbearable expression.
'Bastard' I can't lie and say it didn't fill me with a tinge of satisfaction seeing him get scared.
"Truly terrifying" Ella muttered before downing the rest of her drink and set her empty glass on the table with a determined look.
