“That’s a mighty large diamond, Zoe. Congratulations. You’re now part of the richest family in the city” Dylan’s father said proudly.

Zoe smiled as she looked at her finger. The ring was beautiful and the diamond was large like Richard had said. She knew just by looking at it, the middle stone had to be four carats. The design was beautiful. One large stone cushioned by several smaller stones.

It was exquisite. But, she didn’t need a diamond that large. She would have been fine with any old ring if it meant being with Dylan. That’s when her mind wandered to what her future would be like, being married to the richest man in the city.

As she recalled his father’s words, she realized that her life was going to change profoundly. She had already successfully handled many of the small changes, and they didn’t seem to bother her. So why was she stressing herself out at the thought of being rich? What was the problem?
