Capítulo 24: Chapter 24: He Doesn't Know Her

“Sweetheart, I have made you our favorite dinner. Steak and potatoes” Kyle said, smiling from the country kitchen, as Zoe once again found herself staring outside.

The gesture was amazing. He had rarely ever done anything for her that didn’t in some way benefit him.

The issue was that this wasn’t her favorite dinner. It never had been. It had always been Kyle’s. Yet, he had always been too stubborn to realize that.

He never cared for pasta, and so she rarely got to eat out at fancy Italian restaurants. Even on her birthday, he would make reservations for the Keg instead of at a nice pasta place. Regardless of how often she would mention it, he would let the idea slip past him.

“My favorite meal is gnocchi,” Zoe said, turning away from the window to face Kyle.

Kyle put the plates down, once again looking defeated.

“Let me order you some. Anything you want,” Kyle said honestly.

But that was just it. What she wanted wasn't here.
