Soon enough, Cassius dropped Amelia back at the mansion from her dorm before leaving for his office. All the way back home, both of them didn’t indulge in any conversation further, with an odd silence persisting between them.
However, Cassius didn’t fail to notice a pained, sad look embedded in her ocean eyes that showed her numbness. Though he was both curious and bored, he refrained from asking her any more questions, which might make the situation more awkward.
While walking through the giant mansion door alone with her luggage, Amelia inhaled a heavy huff of breath. A pale, bereaved expression was apparent on her oval face as if she was mustering her inner strength before taking a step into her new life.
But, deep inside, her chest tightened with agony. No matter how hard she tried to adjust to this new life, watching Felix’s face again reminded her of the little happy dreams that were shattered overnight.
