Capítulo 2: The Devils

Sharp pain had gnawed her stomach. Jiang AiLin struggled to free herself from the pain, squirming around her bed as bead of cold sweats dripped around her forehead. A strong sense of sorrow overwhelmed her as soon as she snapped open her eyes, finding herself in her bedroom. She looked downward, immediately to her own stomach and realizing what the sense of agonizing pain had appeared from her own stomach. A sense of loss settled in the depth of her stomach and looking around her, she slowly comprehend where the sense of pain had came from.

Her face immediately turned pale in the realization, "N- No... my baby.. MY BABY!"

She didn't think her family would do this. Even though she had disappointed them by suddenly coming home with a baby in her stomach before her graduation they are her only family members— She would never expect that they would abort her baby against her wishes!

She tried to deny the fact in her head, trying to reason with the act that they are her parents. But she recalled the moments that occurred before she had lost her consciousness. In it, she remembered how Mrs Jiang, her mother, had pushed her into the hospital bed. How her father, Mr Jiang, yelled at the doctors to bring the best gynecologist to abort her baby.

Tears drenched her eyes and she could only find herself slumping on the cold floor, letting out the loudest cry she had ever let out in the Jiang House. For eighteen years had she spent her time in this goddamn house. For eighteen years had she followed all the wishes of Mr and Mrs Jiang, whatever it maybe even including abandoning her own first love. Now they took her baby away... her only family member!

She didn't know what else she could do. By the time she had realized it, she had walked down her staircase, finding her father and mother was hugging a girl of her age. Upon looking at the girl, her blood went even colder.

The girl with the short black hair and coy smile, the girl who always bullied her in school with the most horrendous punishments— NianNian!

Every day in school, NianNian made her life a misery. She wanted AiLin to suffer her entire life even though they had started as friends. Before soon, NianNian destroyed her reputation yet why was her parents hugging her?

"AiLin... you have woken up!" NianNian called out to her.

AiLin stared in horror at the sight of the three people huddling together as if they were a family.

She stared in disbelief at her father and mother who both immediately frown and stare back at her in disgust. They had killed her baby yet their faces were angrier than hers.

"You must be tired after the operation," NianNian said and at the end of her sentence, she had lifted the corners of her lips into a smile.

AiLin was attacked with the dizziness of her painkillers but stronger than that was wrath that she felt seeing NianNian smiling at the news that her baby had been aborted.

AiLin held to her forehead that was itching in pain, she spoke in haste, "What is this... why is she here mother—"

"DON'T CALL ME YOUR MOTHER!" Mrs Jiang let out a shrill scream. She immediately rushed up to the staircase and pulled AiLin by the wrists. AiLin would have easily shook her hand away but her body wasn't cooperating well with her and with ease she was dragged down the staircase by Mrs Jiang. "I KNEW YOU WEREN'T MY DAUGHTER! I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN FROM ALL THE DISAPPOINTMENT YOU BROUGHT TO THE JIANG FAMILY!"

She felt herself staggering down, her body swaying and the next moment her head had hit the sharp edge of the frog statue beside her.

She shuddered upon seeing the frog, the only animal she could never stand.

She called the woman who had dragged her down the staircase, as her mother as the day she dreaded to stop calling the woman as her mother had finally arrived.

This night marked the day when her identity was revealed.

AiLin stood could feel the blood pooling at the back of her head. She had tried to push herself to stand but saw the view in front of her multiplied. What was originally two couple, Madam Jiang and Mr Jang, now became four people from her dizziness.

She felt her heart stung in pain and laughed inwardly at herself.

Did she think that she could keep it as a secret forever?

No.

The reason why her heart was in such a pain was none other than the fact that she had once hoped that in this day, Mrs Jiang would cry for her. She hoped the woman wouldn't abandon her even after finding out the truth. Perhaps those years of familiarity will melt the woman's heart, causing her to feel a soft spot for her.

But who was she kidding?

Even when this woman unaware of her fake identity, she never treated her right. She was pushed to study for hours without food, her grade, her appearance, and even her weight was always watched. She always has to be the best but for the sake of pleasing her parents, AiLin had never said anything against it. Now her baby, the one that was born out of her love had also been killed by them. She could only feel an intense regret for being unable to protect her baby.

"We have heard everything from NianNian," Mr Jiang screamed angrily, "You had forced her to hide the truth by paying her money?! Ungrateful wench! We took care of you and you hid our daughter from you!"

AiLin immediately crawled on the floor, hugging her knees as she saw her father had pulled a belt from his hand and whipped her back numerous times. She knew what he was about to do without looking as she had been punished by the belt numerous time ever since she could remember. A single mistake is equivalent to ten whips and no food. Her body had always been on guard whenever she saw him around the corner.

"GET OUT!" Mrs Jiang yelled. She took the frog statue over her hand and was about to throw it over her head.

AiLin couldn't do anything but defend her head by her arms, crying in pain and sorrow as she does so.

"Mother, father, calm down," spoke the voice of a young man, her older brother.

"MengYao! Don't stop us!" Madam Jiang shrieked. "This girl is nothing but misfortune for us! All she had done was to cause embarrassment for the family! And now what? She knew she isn't our daughter but all this time she had tampered with all the search. Now she daringly stand before us without a single fear or regret of her own action!"

Jiang MengYao's eyes moved toward her, filled with a certain warmth but seeing it, AiLin only shuddered in fear. Her body was shaking and she doesn't know if it was because the hit on the back of her head that appeared to be far worse than her own thoughts or perhaps because she feared all these people she had tried so hard to be her family.

"Drive her out of the house now!" Madam Jiang demanded, kicking away things and throwing another vase.

Jiang MengYao tried to stop his mother but the vase nevertheless hit AiLin's chest. She reached forward and staggered as people came to drag her out. She raised her hand and stopped them, "I can walk out on my own. I know where to go," she responded with a grit of her teeth. She then turned toward the people who were her "family".

"Poor NianNian, my daughter you must have suffered so much," Mrs Jiang immediately cooed NianNian in front of AiLin.

Watching it all happening right in front of her eyes immediately cornered AiLin to the brink. She was on the floor, bloodied and was in pain from the fever and painkillers. Meanwhile her so called "family" was huddling in a hug, embracing for the fact that they had lost each other. She found herself to be the villain of their story even though her childhood, her dream, and her only baby was stolen from her by them. She had handled it all because they were her family. But it seems this was all useless.

"Mother please don't be too angry," NianNian's eyes moved subtly toward her and AiLin felt the urge to slap that mouth close.

"FORGET IT THROW HER OUT OF THIS HOUSE! WE DON'T NEED THIS WENCH IN OUR FAMILY ANYMORE," Mr Jiang demanded for all the servants to throw AiLin out like a useless garbage. But the servants were all frozen at spot, finding their own eyes filled with tears. Most of them knew what Jiang AiLin had gone through in this house thus they couldn't bear to be the one to throw her out of the house. The girl had always been a bright and cheerful one who always care for others.

But she was cursed with such a family, how could they not feel pity for her?

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Yelled Mr Jiang again, angrily about to lash his whips to the servants.

Jiang AiLin was silent as she pushed herself from the floor. She began to walk toward the door, each steps felt as painful as when someone walk over a field of needles. But before she left she turned around and spoke, "I pray that you will never forget about me. Even when you close your eyes, I will be there to haunt you. I promise to you that one day you will suffer a fate even worse than death," said AiLin with her lips that had turned blue. These people forgot about her own condition. No perhaps they knew that her body was far too weak and how wounds cannot heal easily on her body. That was why they had pushed her, hit her, wanting her to die for good.

If she died, it would be accidental right?

AiLin walked away firmly from the place. She had came with nothing and left the house with nothing. It was funny to think that she had always done everything to please her family that until now she was covered in more wounds and felt disgusted about herself.

But now even though she doesn't know if she could ever stand by herself, she had finally left this place for good.

Suddenly, Jiang MengYao chased after her, he tried to convince her to come back, his hand holding her wrist but AiLin remember swatting his hand away. Her whole body was filled with gooosebumps, her skin crawling from where he had touched her. She remembered wanting to throw up everything she has in her stomach. She then staggered as she walked with her head bleeding out and when she had woken up, the Jiang House was in fire and a lighter along with the a can of gasoline was on her hands.

Then the police came, declaring her as a criminal and a killer.

The murderer who had attempted killed her own family who she had tricked.

She didn't kill the people inside the house but she had caused the death of one servant

in the house.

And that was the day when Jiang AiLin, the Miss Fox, lost everything in her life. Her title was ruined, her reputation was then now deemed as cold hearted murderer. No one in the socialite of Beijing could ever forget her.

How could anyone forget her? That foxy eyes and her cheerful attitude had always been the cause why she was both loved and hated by so many people. But once that fake mask of her was revealed, everyone found out that she was nothing but a fake.

Jiang AiLin is nothing but a real heinous Miss Fox who will greedily covet for anything she likes.
