Capítulo 32: 32

The father remains silent while he observes us carefully, I want him to leave so that everything continues to happen calmly; Matthew takes John's arm and leads him out of the church, I stand up again in my place trying to appear calm and sublime in front of the people.

"Because you ran John away like that, he was your father's friend," he murmurs under his shoulder.

"I'll tell you everything when we get back, but you also owe me a few explanations, I have doubts," I whisper.

The father gives the last word and ends the mass, my father's last wish was for us to cremate his body, and we are going to do so, two more people accompany us, we enter a place, a little dark, it is totally dark, only the light can be perceived. fire, a large window and a man with pale skin and brown hair.

—They are ready to deliver the body—Inform.

I turn to see my mother trying to get her to give the answer herself.

"Yes," he sighs.

"Very well, in a few minutes we will give you the ashes," he says, taking the body.

We sat on some silver chairs and waited. When we left the church, Matthew was no longer there. I think he must have seen his father taken to another place. I play with my feet while I think what answers my mother will give me when I ask her some things. of John, whether he reacts badly or well, however he takes it, I hate thinking and not having the answers at the moment, I sigh and see that young man come out with a box, I rub shoulders with my mother and she looks up quickly, we go to him and he hands us the remains of my dad.

We're walking back to the church, I'm worried, I can't stand being at home to talk to my mother.

"Mom, my dad, since when did he meet John?" I ask.

—He married your aunt, your father and he were friends since they were 15 years old.

-Wait, which aunt? And because I don't know her - I question, surprised.

"You don't know her because she died in a car accident," he murmurs. "You look like her, you're just the same."

"The last question and I swear I won't ask again," I comment, "Since when I started telling John uncle.

—Since I was very little, I was 6 years old, and it was because he asked you to tell him that way.

I left the questioning for a while while we left the ashes in a section of the church. Why did my father never mention my aunt? How could John ruin his friendship with my father and let him down like that? I don't understand. What if Matthew is my cousin? , I've been sleeping with him all this time, this is impossible. I need to know more about my aunt's life and my mother is now the only one who can give me the answers. The whole way back home I stayed silent, turning over all those points around my head, twisting my mouth and turning to my mother. He opens the door and I sit in the dining room and my mother takes a seat anyway.

- What do you think?

—In everything you told me, and why my father never mentioned my aunt to me.

—She didn't do it because her loss hurt her a lot and every time she saw you you reminded her of her, that's why she loved you and protected you too much.

—How many years ago mom died—my gaze is weak and I turn away so she doesn't notice.

—She was 20 years old, I know she died very young, she and John were expecting a baby, but neither of them were saved in that tragedy.

—And Matthew is my aunt's son? —I say worried

—No Julia, you can sleep peacefully.

I ponder all the answers my mother has given me, Matthew was not going to be the only child, he was going to have an older brother. He will know my aunt's history with John or his father will keep it from him. My mother leaves the dining room for a moment and heads to her room. It takes a few minutes and she returns with a photograph in her hands, it is a little old and wrinkled in black and white.

—This is your aunt Julia—he points to the girl in the middle, giving me the photograph.

"It's her," I say surprised.

-And

He looks like me, his features are the same as mine, the same height and the same thinness, I am surprised by so much resemblance to me, the only difference is that his hair is completely straight compared to my rebellious wavy hair.

"You can keep it if you want it," he says.

"Of course I love it, thank you," he stated.

I go to my room while I examine her in detail, the subtle smile she shows in the photo seemed to be full of life and dreams. I place it in a drawer where I keep my most precious things, but first I place it in a bag so that it is not mistreated and continues to be preserved.

The cell phone rings but I don't want to answer, I look and see that it's Chad, I let it ring until he shuts up, I want to sleep for a while but the neighbors have loud music. I snort at that and put on music to my liking too so I can relax. The phone rings again, I roll my eyes and see Chad's name again without answering on the third ring.

"Julia, how are you?" He says.

—Very well, here moving forward.

—I was happy, I give you my deepest condolences.

—Thank you, it feels good to listen to you right now, you are the only friend who is there for me now, apart from Mike and Jack.

—Tomorrow I'll be there again, I hope to see you and Matthew

"Weren't you in London?" he asked.

—It was fine, I'll see you tomorrow.

I hang up and I can't fall asleep, I think about my aunt again, she must have been great, what must have been her character, she was going to have a cousin, a tear comes out when I think that but I quickly wipe it away.

It's 5 pm and I really don't know what to do so I grab my jacket and go outside for a walk to clear my mind.
