After breakfast and a round of chess with his neighbor, Old Mr. Roberts decided to look for Jackson.
"Where's that fellow? Has he gone upstairs to bully Nidia again?" Old Mr. Roberts was protective of Nidia, so any small action would be considered bullying in his eyes.
For instance, when Jackson brought Gabrielle over and showed his affection to her in front of Nidia.
Gabrielle came down from upstairs when she heard Old Mr. Roberts' voice. She had changed into a new dress. She shook her head and asked, "Mr. Roberts, do you know where's Ms. Stone?"
Old Mr. Roberts only saw Gabrielle but not Jackson. Thus, he continued to look around for him. "I didn't see her. Perhaps she's making a call outside. She is a busy woman."
Old Mr. Roberts sounded irritated in his reply as he was not able to find Jackson.
