My dad insisted on me joining the NYPD since the dinner I had with him.
He organized me a summer job as a counselor for the police station I worked with before. It was the 99th precinct.
I was happy that I would be working with them instead of strangers.
I would work there for the whole summer and wouldn't be at home the whole time.
Today was Jay's birthday and my last day in Los Angeles for the whole summer.
I wanted to enjoy the day with everyone for one last time this summer.
"Hi, Gloria"
"Hola Ethan. Nice to see you", Gloria said while holding her stomach.
"You're pregnant?", I asked her trying to act surprised. I already knew about it. No surprise about that.
I thought it was lucky that she still got pregnant even though I was here. My arrival didn't really have a butterfly effect.
The waves I sent through time only created a few minor ripples until now.
"How do you know", she asked, anxious, excited and worried. A real cocktail of emotions.
"The car sickness you asked me about yesterday on the phone and then the grabbing on the stomach. As well as the way you act", I said trying to pretend to get it together from clues.
"Dios mío. Yes, I am", Gloria quickly said the truth.
"Does Jay know about it?", I asked.
"No, he went fishing with his friends and Phil", Gloria said in a worried voice.
"How do you think Jay will react?", Gloria asked me very worriedly. She was very anxious about it. Of course. Jay doesn't like new things. Gloria knows that.
"I am sure he will love the news. He will think it is his best birthday so far. Jay may not show it often, but he is a very soft-hearted person on the inside", I wanted to relieve Gloria's worries and told her about what I thought.
"Thanks, Ethan for helping me", Gloria hugged me and thanked me.
It didn't take all too long and soon the Dunphys arrived.
We all talked together and about an hour later Cam and Mitchell came.
I knew from my memories and from Haley and Gloria that they couldn't adopt the baby.
I saw them look confused, sad, and nervous.
Coming up to them I greeted them and asked them if everything was alright.
"Hi guys. Everything alright after yesterday?", I asked them in a careful tone.
"Everything good Ethan. We are still a little bit depressed but we are trying to go back to our everyday life now", Mitchell replied.
"We had a headache trying to refund all the baby gifts we prepared. It was a real hassle", Mitchell said supporting his hurting head with his left hand.
"We are currently thinking about adopting a cat. Animals love you Ethan. You must also love them. Do you know which kind of cat would be best suited for us?", Cam asked.
I didn't know what they were feeling, but I tried to be as considerate as possible in this conversation.
Soon after Mitchell and Cam came Jay arrived with Phil.
Jay in a not-so-good mood was talking about how he wished himself a quieter birthday today.
Suddenly Gloria came over and whispered something into his ear.
"YOU'RE PREGNANT?!"
"That's great news", Jay said excitedly.
Everyone suddenly jumped up besides me. It seems that I was the only one she told about her pregnancy.
This was a special episode. I still remember it pretty clearly in my head. In the original most people should have known about the pregnancy.
I was used to little changes here and there and didn't mind it.
Gloria and Jay excitedly started talking together.
They talked long.
The two were happily talking about the baby growing in Gloria's womb while I said my goodbyes to everyone and went home.
Tomorrow I will be flying to New York.
Late at night I still had a small dinner with Haley together.
We had sex one last time before I flew.
After Haley drove home I started to sleep.
Waking up the next day I did all the necessary things and went to the airport.
From there I flew towards New York.
Arriving in New York I let all my bags be delivered towards my penthouse.
This penthouse is originally my father's but he let me live in here.
It was huge and everything was high-tech.
I looked at everything in this new house I would be living in for a while.
It was already evening at that time.
I soon slept in the bedroom with a great view of New York.
The next day I drove towards the NYPD with my AMG black series.
When I arrived at the 99th precinct I went towards the 4th floor where the captain's office was located.
I didn't see any characters in the show yet as it was before the usual shift change.
Going towards Captain McGintleys office I looked around everywhere curiously. It looked slightly different from the show, but it was still the same.
I knocked on Captain McGintleys office.
"Come in", I heard a deep voice coming from the inside.
I went inside the office and saw Captain McGintley take off his reading glasses.
"You must be the counselor that was hired", Captain McGintley said slowly.
"Yes, sir", I replied with a smile.
"Good. You can go to work. Just don't die", the captain replied in a calm tone.
I knew that Captain McGintley was the same as in the show. He didn't care about what was going on.
It had its upsides and also its downsides.
Now I had about half an hour of waiting time before the shift change.
Then would the characters of Brooklyn-99 appear before me.
I have already seen Rosa, Amy, and Jake, but still not the other members.
Time passed quickly and soon the first character came into my view.
Should I introduce Holt as Captain now or should I wait?
I also though about posting only one chapter a day in the future as I previously had holidays and lots of free-time.
Now time was getting tighter with some exams also approaching.
