Capítulo 12: Chapter 11: Meeting Sling

It was almost summer. As the weather turned hot and the leaves turned green, daylight lasted longer with the sky no longer turning dark at just 4 in the afternoon.

Pedestrians could be seen walking the sidewalks and crossing roads. Cars stopped at red lights while occasionally some would run through the red lights and almost cause accidents.

Among the throng of living beings walking the busy streets in the afternoon sun at its peak mingled an inconspicuous person wearing a neat suit and tie carrying a briefcase. He looked prim and proper, like an elite. Taking evenly-paced steps with the just right width of each stretch of the legs, he walked into a peaceful neighborhood.

Being a relatively low-key community housing area, a lot of the houses were still empty as the project plan of the company that built this place did not go as planned as the company went bankrupt in the middle of construction and left many of the houses here incomplete.

Despite the former, a few of the houses were finished and eventually sold to pay off that company's debt.

This elite-looking man was one of the buyers and owners of a house in this skeleton community with few flesh and skin.

Taking the house key from his pants pocket, a childish pendant dangled and shook with the turn of the key in the lock.

Click.

The door was unlocked. The man then turned the door knob and pushed the main door in. Stepping inside, the man closed the door before changing from his carefully polished work leather shoes into comfortable and fluffy home slippers.

The man called out, "Wife, son, I'm home!" Informing his family of his arrival.

Sounds of footsteps neared the doorway as a warm and gentle voice said, "Welcome back, dear. Lunch is ready. Come have some."

She helped take the man's briefcase and suit jacket, putting the suit jacket on a hanger and placing it inside the wall closet in the entrance hall. She then took the briefcase into the house.

Suddenly remembering something, the woman turned her head to remind her husband of something she had forgotten to mention.

"By the way, honey, some people came to see you today."

The man furrowed his eyebrows in confusion and felt a little alert in his heart.

He asked his wife while following her in, "Did they say who they were?"

"Yes. In fact, they are still here."

"!!!" Now the man was even more suspicious and doubtful about their identity, alarms rang in his head as his instincts warned him about these people he has yet to see.

"Still here, you say." The man's expression turned serious as he strided quickly forward.

"They're in the living room. I invited them to have a meal with us!" His wife called out at her husband's hurried back.

Hearing this, the man raised an eyebrow. His wife would never allow someone, let alone people, to stay in their house for prolonged periods of time let alone eat with them. What in the world is going on here?

With these questions in mind, the man soon reached the living room.

The house was average in size and land, however, it was bigger than many family-sized housings.

From the front door to the living room it took more than 10 seconds to walk. The living room itself was pretty spacious, in the center of the room was an arrangement of a 5-seat sofa that was bent at an angle along with two-seater sofas on the sides. A glass table stood in the center. Mounted on the wall was a TV with a length of almost 2 yards and a width of 4 yards. A huge velvet carpet overlaid this area.

Pots of flowers and plants decorated window sills and tables. Crayoned drawings in frames adorned the fours walls. A game station sat beside the giant TV. Shelves full of leisure books took up space in a corner.

Everything truly resembled the stereotypical image of an elite's home.

In front of the TV was a little boy who looked to be in middle school, sitting directly on the comfy carpet and watching the TV intently.

On one two-seater sofa sat a young boy in his teens sporting a mass of purple-colored hair, the color of his eyes unknown to the approaching man from the back.

Behind the sofa stood a man dressed in all black with dark blue hair that could be dyed black in the shadows.

Hearing someone approaching, the young boy with dark-to-light purple hair turned his head to see who was coming.

The man was stunned in place by the striking glow of the deep purple in the boy's eyes that seemed to pierce through his heart.

The man's wife also approached and took her husband's arm, looping her's through his.

The boy's eyes seemed to gleam brighter once before returning to before.

At the same time, the wife said, "Husband, these are your guests. I'll be going to the kitchen to take out the dishes. Rip, come with me." She called her son to go with her to the kitchen.

"Ok, mom." The boy stood up and went with his mother.

They retreated, leaving the three people alone in the living room, the TV still on the news channel.

"You… Why did you come to see me? I do not think I know you," the man started, staring intently at the purple haired and purple eyed teen. Not bothering with the older man next to the teen when people usually would have conversed with the older one first.

'It seems like he's got quite the perception.' The teen thought to himself with a smile.

The teen smiled. "Good afternoon, Sling, your reputation precedes you. Even if you don't know me, I know you."

"!!"

Sling was greatly alarmed now, before it was just growing suspicions and doubt, but now, he could feel a sense of danger arising. This boy knows his name!

"By the way, my name is Ian. Nice to meet you. We'll be getting to know each other soon." The teen smiled innocently.

But Sling felt anything but innocence coming from this boy in front of him. He inexplicably felt as though he were facing a monster in human skin.

A sense of terror crawled up his spine.

Suddenly, Sling's brain reminded him of the abnormal behavior of his wife and son. His wife who never allows a stranger into their house, let alone permit their stay, let these people remain to have a meal with them. His son who never sits in the same room with a stranger let his guard down and watched TV with them.

"What did you do to them?!" Sling's booming voice shook the house.

Ian smiled reassuringly, yet it only seemed to up the other's guard. "They're fine. We didn't do anything to them. I only… assured them that we are trustworthy people here to befriend you."

"What?"

Sling didn't believe him.

As can be seen from him pulling out a gun at Ian.

The man with dark blue hair immediately reacted to the threat, however, Ian calmed him down and stopped him. "It's okay. Stand down, Shade."

Shade could only stand down as ordered, but he stared intently at Sling's every movement and watched for every twitch of his muscle. Ready to act at any time.

Sling had the gun 10 centimeters from Ian's forehead. Not knowing when Ian stood up from the sofa, Ian casually confronted Sling face to face, unafraid of the point-blank gun that could take his life at any moment.

"Let's talk civilly, alright?"

"Put the gun down."

"You think I would just do as you say—" Sling started saying then cut himself off when he saw his own arm lowering itself with the gun still clutched.

Sling's eyes widened in shock.

Placing his hand on the sofa, Ian walked around the back of the sofa to Sling and said, "Why don't we take a seat and talk?"

Sling then watched as his body uncontrollably moved on its own accord to the sofa and sat down.

Ian took a seat on the sofa opposite Sling.

Despite his internal struggle to get up and resist, externally, his body refused to listen to him, its owner.

Before Sling could attempt to futilely struggle any further, Ian eyed him and said with a laugh, "You can stop. No one can get rid of my control. And we have more important things to discuss than what's happening to you… and your wife."

Sling glared at Ian, unable to believe that such a young boy in his teens could possess such unworldly power. Not to mention that it was used on him and his family. His glare strengthened in intensity.

Ian raised his hands to show his harmlessness, and innocently quipped, "At least your own consciousness and thought still remain."

Sling's eye twitched. Is this boy ignorant or just pretending to be?

This doesn't make him feel any better!

"Relax~ As I've told you, all I did was tell your wife and son that I can be trusted. That. Is. All. Nothing else. Now stop thinking about that small issue and focus on what I'm about to say next."

Sling's felt his mind unable to bring up the previous topic. The moment he tried to switch his mind to focus, it just wanders away. As if the moment it was touched, it dispersed like floating clouds and he forgot what he was thinking. Exactly as Ian said.

So Sling could only resentfully look at Ian. Asking with a tone full of frustration, "What do you want from me?"

Ian smiled, finally, they were on the main point. "I want you to work for me."

"Your salary will be much greater than what you earn now and you will finally have a proper job and decent employment. Plus, your family will be safe."

'Safe? Safe from what? You?' Sling mocked in his heart.

"No. Not me." Ian shook his head gently. Ian's purple eyes lifted to look into Sling's confused eyes. "You."

Sling's eyes widened even further, his eyes almost popping out, turning into creepy blue gems.

"W-w-what do you mean?" Sling was so shocked and confused that he stuttered.

Looking into Ian's smiling eyes full of a mystic glow, Sling inexplicably believed everything Ian said and didn't say.

"What?"
