Capítulo 32: Chapter 32 - Meeting the young master Evilian

Leonardo sat on the coffee table facing the detective. Crossing his arms, he was constantly watched.

― So, what is this place?

― The main attractions of Dreamland live here ― Whispered Leonardo, smiling slightly embarrassed.

― You're not an attraction, as far as I know ― murmured the detective, squinting his eyes.

― That's right. It's a long way from the park, which means you have to walk a long way to get close. I thought you might know about this place and go investigate.

He was running away from the subject, Giovani could tell. But he wouldn't force Leonardo to talk. Taking another sip of the soothing hot milk with honey, the detective had begun to tell what had happened moments ago. He certainly didn't talk in detail about what he had seen in that silhouette, but he had made it clear that he had seen something.

Leonardo's reactions made one think that he knew absolutely nothing. He was surprised and looked at the sleeping boy with concern.

― In other words, someone is really kidnapping people inside the park.

― I just have no idea how he managed to take Lucas. The boy left to go to the bathroom and soon disappeared.

― It is really worrying. Anyway, you haven't found any information about his parents?

― So far no answer.

Leonardo crossed his arms and sighed. Amidst the silence, the front door was opened and two bickering figures entered. Giovani recognized the young boy from the plaza, but the other had only seen him from afar. It was the magician from the park.

― Shut up! I said I'm not in the mood.

― Now, you piece of cloud, don't be grumpy. It's only for one day.

― Last time you walked into that kitchen, you nearly burned down the mansion. Stay away from that place... Hey.

The two fell silent when they noticed the detective's presence. Immediately the bickering aura of both had been put aside for the strangeness to enter the stage.

― It seems we have unexpected visitors ― Smiled the magician crossing his arms.

Just as Leonardo had said, those two were attractions of the park and were entering the mansion as if they were their own homes. One piece of information was proved to be true.

Both were wearing costumes and makeup, but neither of them had green eyes or a scar on their eye. They were still suspects.

― Hey, Leo, what's going on?

Leonardo smiled gently at the two attractions. Aslan and Ray noticed the sleeping child in the detective's arms.

― I trust you have no problem getting a room for the detective, right? Apparently it's pretty dangerous out there.

Aslan snorted, clearly annoyed by the request, but nodded.

― I'll prepare the guest room then.

Giovani eyed the respectful tone between the two boys. They were too young to act that way with each other. He found it rather strange as he had seen the two of them being more comfortable when alone.

― I wonder what a detective is doing in our humble abode. By any chance did you come to investigate us? ― Ray joked, approaching the upholstered furniture with his masked smile.

― You haven't been part of my investigation yet.

― But of course not, every time I see you I run away! ― laughed the magician.

― Which makes you even more suspicious.

― I thought that everyone was ordered to cooperate in the investigations ― murmured Leonardo, looking at the magician who shrugged his shoulders ― Isn't that what Vincent said?

― Wasn't it? Sometimes I don't listen very well to what our Vincent says...

Leonardo rolled his eyes. Vicente was the park administrator, the guy who gave him the creeps. So he was also close to those guys?

― Does that guy also live here? ― Giovani asked, stealing the attention from the discussion.

― But of course! ― smiled Ray, leaning over Leonardo's head ― He has to take care of all of us, which is a pity. I feel like a baby.

― Ray, you should help Aslan.

― But it's more fun here ― Ray formed a pout on his lips, starting with his slyness. However, a mischievous smile appeared on his face ― Or was that an order from the young master?

Giovani's eyes widened upon hearing those words, turning immediately to the trainee, who was serious. Leonardo stared intensely at the magician, who did not remove the malice from his face.

― You talk too much sometimes.

― Oho, it's a joke, a joke. Besides, you can't keep the secret from the police. It would be a matter of time before they find out.

― You're... You're...

Leonardo opened a slight smile, as if it hurt to have to admit something.

― I am sorry for keeping this from you, Giovanni ― whispered the boy, leaving his hand on his chest ― I will properly introduce myself, I am Leonardo Evilian.

Evilian.

It was the surname of the owner of Dreamland World. It had been reported recently the death of the owner and the questioning of who would be the head now. Giovani had no idea that he had children, I mean it was expected, but as he hadn't heard about it he imagined that someone else had inherited the park.

He had tried several ways to get to the new owner of the park to investigate him and have access to the restricted areas. This if it wasn't for that administrator that always barred him, making it clear that he wouldn't meet his master.

Now he found out that he had always talked to him... How hilarious.

― So, you are the new owner of this place. It must have been fun for you to see me desperate to find you.

Leonardo had hastily denied with his head.

― Don't think like that, I'm actually doing an internship here because of college.

It was hard to believe now that he knew the truth. That was why he knew the mansion and could enter it. Just as it made sense that that administrator always showed up to escort him at the end of his workday.

― What a joke.

― If it wasn't fun for our young master, you bet it was for me ― Intervened Ray playing with Leonardo's hair ― Since a detective showed up just as we were trying to get the young master to root for this place.

Giovani arched an eyebrow at the hostility in that magician's words.

― Ignore him.

― The room is ready ― Aslan warned as he appeared in the corridor, letting out a groan when he saw the magician leaning on Leonardo's head ― You should have gone to help me instead of staying here bothering Leo.

― If you wanted my company you should have asked, my piece of cloud. You know I won't refuse one of your requests.

Leonardo got up from the coffee table and picked up his backpack, throwing it on his back, ending the discussion of those two.

― Ok, ok, you all go to sleep. If Vicente sees you two standing up, he will fight. Giovani, make yourself comfortable and rest. You are not in any danger here.

He wanted to ask more questions, but noticed how tired the boy was. Giovani simply watched him on his back, climbing the stairs with his shoulders bent as if he were carrying the world. That was why he sympathised with him, he knew well that tired feeling of having to survive. Though he was slightly frustrated, he didn't know who he really was.

Getting up from the upholstery as well, settling Luke in his arms, the detective had followed Aslan who had taken him to the guest room. The room was on the ground floor and was a small suite. Just enough for him to be comfortable.

Laying the sleepy boy on the bed, the detective finally had his free arms tingling. Before he could fully relax, he noticed that the manager was still standing in the doorway watching him.

― Anything else?

― Don't blame young master Leo for keeping your identity a secret ― he said finally ― He still hasn't quite accepted his new position.

― Are you worried that I'm going to fight with him or something? ― He had asked just because, not to be curious. However, the sadness in that costumed boy made clear his concern with the young master ― I'm too old to be angry about things like that.

― The young master asked for cooperation from all the employees for his investigation. I ask that you do not discuss your identity with anyone else until Leo is prepared to do so.

Okay, there were reasons. It was none of your business.

― It's none of my business. I just wanna do my job. The rest doesn't matter to me.

Aslan had cracked a slight smile.

― I'm glad to hear that. I'll let the other residents know about your presence so no one bothers you. Good night, detective.

When the door had closed, Giovani sat on the edge of the bed feeling completely tired. He wasn't going to worry about Leonardo and his status within Dreamland. He had something more important to do.

Find the person behind the kidnappings.
