Capítulo 70: Chapter 70: The Revised Plan

**

Link was constantly revising his plans. In less than two years, he had adjusted his strategies multiple times due to his changing identity and social status. From being a small-time police officer to becoming a billionaire, the process had been so fast that he found it hard to keep up.

At first, it was about buying houses, cars, and getting luxury brands for Jessica. But now, he was beginning to understand some fundamental truths.

Billionaires don't buy luxury goods as often as people think; it's actually the middle class that splurges on such things. Link was a newly rich man, but one with real power behind him.

In the future, he aimed to join the Avengers and even acquire one or two Infinity Stones. But to achieve that, he needed to keep his true strength hidden. At most, he should appear to be a highly skilled agent. Of course, he also needed a higher social status, one that would make it difficult for the authorities to manipulate him. This realization had only dawned on him recently.

His earlier studies were meant to help him develop a nano suit. While his powers could remain hidden, his suit could not. Both he and Jessica would need vibranium-based nano suits for self-defense and disguise, especially since vibranium's kinetic energy absorption abilities were crucial.

As for whether S.H.I.E.L.D. should be dismantled, Link was still undecided. But raising his social standing would allow him the freedom to choose, free from the control of government entities. That was enough for now.

Link's thinking had started to shift, and it had nothing to do with his superhuman brain. It was about politics, something he hadn't understood much of before.

The Hammer Corporation was his inspiration. Despite Justin Hammer's arrest and the company's stock plummeting, it hadn't collapsed. The military still needed Hammer Corporation to function.

This gave Link an idea. After researching Pym Technologies and Oscorp, he decided to focus on Oscorp. He believed he had a way to treat Norman Osborn and his son. If he succeeded, he would have a reliable CEO on his side—assuming they were willing to cooperate.

Additionally, Link planned to investigate whether Richard Parker had left any information for his son. In *The Amazing Spider-Man*, the Roosevelt secret station had been mentioned. Link intended to visit it. After some online searches, he bought a special coin that was used for the station's access.

Richard Parker had engineered genetically modified spiders, with the key to the experiments being a decay rate algorithm. Link hoped to find more detailed research left behind.

...

"Why are you calling me out today?" Frank asked.

"I need your help with something. Let's go," Link said, motioning Frank to get into the car. Once they were driving, he asked, "How's work treating you?"

"Not bad. Being a bodyguard is pretty easy, and your girlfriend doesn't go to any sketchy places. So, work is quite relaxed," Frank replied. "Maybe a little *too* relaxed."

"Ha, a lot of people would kill for a job like that. You could use the free time to train more," Link suggested.

"You know that driver of yours? He's not ordinary," Frank said suddenly.

"I know. I looked into him. He faked his death and disappeared from public life. Nothing to worry about," Link replied, not hiding anything. He trusted Frank, considering all they had been through together.

Frank nodded and said, "He seems very calm, always reading books. He said he plans to finish reading 100 of them—it was his wife's dying wish. You sure know how to pick people."

Link chuckled, "Of course, I take Jessica's safety seriously. I'm a billionaire now, and people might try something."

"Hmm, but what about your safety?" Frank asked. "You may be a trained agent and all, but you should still be careful."

"The underworld knows better than to mess with me. They're the ones who gave me the nickname 'Death.'" Link began recounting his past dealings with the High Table.

"Over 300 lives—it's enough to scare anyone. Even if someone had the guts to come after me, they'd have no way of finding useful intel. No one would dare share it," Link explained.

Frank inhaled sharply, "How did you pull that off?"

"A remote-controlled bomb in the desert, a targeted explosion that brought down a helicopter, followed by a sandstorm. After that, I just picked them off one by one. I'm a good shot, and I throw knives well, too," Link said casually.

"I've seen your knife skills—very fast!" Frank had witnessed it back at Billy Russo's house but hadn't yet seen Link's shooting abilities.

But imagining it wasn't hard—eliminating over 300 people in such a short time would require speed, precision, and incredible stamina, especially in the desert.

Soon, they arrived at a subway entrance. After parking, the two men got out and headed underground. But they weren't there to ride the subway. Reaching a blocked-off area, they jumped down onto the tracks and walked forward.

It didn't take long before they came across a sealed-off side tunnel. Frank, curious, asked, "There's another tunnel here?"

"Haven't you heard of Roosevelt's secret station?" Link replied before crouching down and crawling through a small opening. Once they climbed onto the platform, it was clear—they had found Roosevelt Station.

There was only one coin slot. Link inserted the special coin, and Frank looked around, asking, "What are we waiting for?"

Just as he finished speaking, a rumble echoed. The ground split open, and a subway car rose from the tracks.

"Holy…!" Frank exclaimed in disbelief. "This is insane!"

"That's why it's hidden. Let's get on," Link said.

When the car stopped, its doors were already open. Inside, they found numerous documents and a computer. After some inspection, Link confirmed these were Richard Parker's notes—his secret research.

There was also a video, but Link didn't watch it. The data was what he needed. The video would be better left for Spider-Man. Whether the kid found it or not was his business. At the very least, Link had left him something valuable.

Frank's role was simple: to help carry things. They needed to take everything out in one go to avoid a return trip. After packing up two crates of documents and making sure nothing was left behind, they left the station.
