Capítulo 81: Chapter 81: Aunt May's Serious Concerns

"You are in a dangerous period right now."

Aunt May set down the church pamphlet she was holding and said solemnly to Peter.

"I don't quite understand, Aunt May."

Peter pretended to be clueless.

Beside him, Uncle Ben pretended to hide behind the newspaper, clearly indicating he had no say in this conversation.

Aunt May looked at Peter with a commanding presence. "George called me last night and said you and Gwen are dating."

"To be honest, Peter, I don't object to it. In fact, I quite like that girl Gwen."

Aunt May looked at Peter seriously. "But you two better not do anything foolish."

"Ahem."

Uncle Ben coughed awkwardly and said to the two of them, "The lawn outside still needs clearing. I'll go do that."

After Uncle Ben left, Aunt May crossed her arms and said to Peter, "At the very least, you two need to take care of yourselves."

Peter put down his banana bread and looked up. "Actually, Aunt May, we haven't done anything out of line."

"Do you understand what I mean?"

"What?" Peter looked at Aunt May in surprise. He thought she was going to reprimand him, but she was unexpectedly straightforward.

"I said, do you understand what I mean?"

Aunt May stood with her arms crossed, exuding a powerful aura.

Peter was taken aback, then changed the subject. "Maybe we can talk about something else, Aunt May."

"Do you understand?"

Aunt May seemed oblivious to Peter's attempt to change the subject and asked again.

Peter hadn't expected Aunt May to be so forceful today.

And to speak so openly in front of him.

"Aunt May, the internet and cable TV were already widespread when I was born."

Peter reluctantly admitted to Aunt May, "Yes, I understand."

"What do you understand?"

Uncle Ben had told me."

"Ben told you?"

"Yes."

Aunt May lowered her crossed arms, and Peter thought she was about to drop the subject, but she asked another question, "What did Ben tell you?"

"Aunt May, let's just drop it. I give up."

Though Peter wasn't exactly a seasoned veteran in relationships, he wasn't completely inexperienced either, and he felt awkward being interrogated by Aunt May.

It seemed Aunt May's natural authority was particularly effective on him.

Seeing Peter's expression, Aunt May smiled slightly.

She said to Peter, "Alright, but there's one rule: no mischief inside the house."

"I won't, Aunt May."

"Are you sure? No accidents will happen."

"I should hope not."

Aunt May nodded and walked over to pat Peter's hand gently. "Gwen is a good girl, I like her. I'm not as old-fashioned as you think. Also..."

She paused for a moment, her expression softened slightly. "Your father and mother met in high school."

After dealing with Aunt May, Peter was about to ask Uncle Ben to help him take a leave of absence when his phone suddenly rang.

He picked up the phone and found it was a message from Gwen.

"Peter, good morning. Did my dad say anything to you?"

After hesitating for a moment, Peter replied to her, "No."

He didn't mention George's complaint to Uncle Ben and Aunt May.

"That's good. Actually, I have a question for you."

"What question?"

Gwen's message took a few minutes to arrive. "You don't think I'm a loose girl, do you, Peter?"

In her room, Gwen frowned as she looked at the screen of her phone.

After waking up in the morning, she felt regretful.

"What did I do yesterday?"

Thinking about her bold behavior at the pool and the argument with her father, she felt waves of embarrassment.

Her usual self wouldn't act like this.

Well, her feelings for Peter weren't fake, but she shouldn't have taken the initiative in kissing him.

Was she really under some sort of spell, as Peter said?

She pondered and looked down at her phone.

Peter's message came back, "No."

"Gwen, that's just a coincidence."

Gwen adjusted her phone's height and continued texting, "Didn't someone say? Once something happens once, a similar event will happen again."

She edited the text, "It's like the government sending a team of meteor observers to the Corette National Park just because a huge asteroid fell there two million years ago."

Gwen put down her phone and remembered the taste of the kiss from yesterday.

Feeling the sunlight on her hair, she murmured softly, "But it's not all bad."

She wanted to tell Peter about a dream she had, but in the end, she didn't.

She dreamt that she was in Disney World, driving a white van with a red cross on it, with Peter sitting beside her.

Their beautiful daughter, at least six years old, was sitting on the bumper of the van, staring at her with green eyes.

On the street outside the train station, Mickey Mouse was surrounded by children, holding their trusting little hands with his cartoon gloves.

Everything looked incredibly happy.

She rubbed her temples and looked at the photo frame on the bedside table.

"Well, this is the scene I dreamed about with my parents when I was a child, and it came true in the next generation."

Gwen cheered up, left the room, and headed to school.

The street had been raining all night, giving off a muddy smell.

Gwen subconsciously wrapped her hoodie tighter and put on her hood.

At a corner near the street, a bald man in a black suit inside a black car saw Gwen's figure and reported on his phone, "Boss, target spotted."

"Good, execute the plan, make it clean."

"Understood!"

After putting down the phone, the bald man started the car, stepped on the gas, and drove towards where Gwen was.

"Boom!"

The roaring car rushed towards Gwen like a runaway horse.

The bald man tightly gripped the steering wheel, floored the gas pedal, and in an instant, the car sped past Gwen.

At the moment the roaring car approached her, Gwen's senses heightened.

A strong sense of danger enveloped her body.

Without hesitation, Gwen jumped up, flipped her body in mid-air, and dodged the speeding car.

The car, at maximum speed, managed to flip over Gwen, "bang," and she fell heavily to the ground.

Countless water droplets splashed up as she landed.

Gwen looked at the stopped car, her brow furrowed.

But she believed the driver of the car didn't do it on purpose.

Clapping her hands, she walked towards the stopped car.
