Capítulo 168: MD-Chapter 167 A Dream

After chatting briefly with Lily via text, Arthur felt his previously full stomach start to grow hungry again. It was as if the substantial meal with Odin and the fast food from the restaurant had vanished into a bottomless pit.

Sighing in resignation, he turned over and listened to the conversation between Thor and Jane. The two seemed to be in the process of getting to know each other, speaking cautiously. Considering Thor's "mad ramblings," it was a wonder Jane even managed to get involved unless she wasn't quite normal herself.

Shaking his head, unable to sleep, Arthur recalled Odin's words about the future. They had predicted two possible outcomes: unclear but ever-changing futures.

Now that he knew about this, wouldn't the so-called future change once again? After all, movies often depict prophecies that change when the protagonist learns about them— sort of like the butterfly effect?

Would this change be good or bad? Is it something they look forward to or fear?

Perhaps this is a test in itself?

Arthur smirked silently, feeling that he might get the chance to visit Kamar-Taj and meet the Sorcerer Supreme in person.

He then remembered Odin's words about fate: Rejecting it brings disaster… while accepting it might bring great favor.

Was this protagonist-like template really talking about him?

No matter how much fate comes, should he just accept it with a smile?

"But what have I been rejecting all along?"

Arthur sighed softly, his eyes reflecting a hint of confusion.

Fate is intangible; it cannot directly show up and tell Arthur what to do or grant him a power-up. Instead, everything requires Arthur to grasp the meaning of "fate" on his own.

It's quite perplexing…

Lost in thought, he eventually fell asleep.

Arthur had a very confusing dream!

In the dream, he wandered through a fog, unable to see any paths in any direction. He could only stretch out his hands, groping ahead…

When he finally cleared the mist and stumbled out of the confusion, he woke up.

"What the heck?"

Arthur, puzzled, got up to find he was alone in the car.

When had the car stopped? When had Thor and Jane gotten out?

Frowning, Arthur realized that despite it being a small matter, his keen awareness should have picked up on it.

"Is it because of… this dream?"

Arthur raised an eyebrow. "Is it because I don't know what fate is, so fate gave me a dream? Can it get any more absurd?"

Getting out of the car, he saw that it had become dark without him noticing.

"Did I sleep that long?"

Arthur rubbed his face, yawned, and then spotted Thor and Jane not far off.

They were hiding behind a dirt mound, with the nearby depression being SHIELD's facility.

Standing still, Arthur did not approach. Instead, he released a The Eye of Horus and turned to head in the opposite direction.

The events that followed were not his concern. Thor was looking for Mjölnir, and Jane was watching Thor's battle with SHIELD. A group of agents had thrown Thor, a mere mortal, around as he struggled to lift Mjölnir. Thor nearly broke down and was eventually captured by SHIELD.

He knew the general situation, so he only needed to observe with The Eye of Horus.

As long as SHIELD's people don't shoot him on sight, Arthur had no need to show himself.

Like them, Arthur also found a dirt mound to lean against. He adjusted his clothes and casually checked the Disassembler Space… everything seemed normal!

"Not really!"

Arthur quickly refocused on the Disassembler space, searching carefully: "Where's Jeff??"

Recalling, he remembered that he had left the fat guy in the Spaceship. After discovering Bifrost and going to Asgard, Odin had unreasonably tried to make him his son-in-law. Following a series of chaotic events, Arthur used Bifrost to return to Earth, but he completely forgot about Jeff being left in the Spaceship.

"If I had known, I should have left him in Asgard."

Arthur tapped his head. "But it's okay. I probably need to go to Asgard anyway… wait a minute!"

He rubbed his head and recalled the plot of Thor 1.

The mischievous Loki, who pretended to ally with the Frost Giants, killed them all once they arrived in Asgard. He also unleashed the energy of Bifrost, attacking Jotunheim, trying to obliterate it entirely.

With no other option, Thor had to destroy the bridge, causing the teleportation device to fall into a deep chasm!

"Hmm… eh?"

Arthur's mouth dropped open: "If I follow this plot, wouldn't I get stuck in Asgard? After finally coming back from space, I'd end up as a god in Asgard! What am I wandering around for?"

Hesitating to follow Thor back… he couldn't let go of the idea of the Asgardian treasure vault.

"It looks like I'll have to stop all this from happening."

Arthur pondered: "If all else fails, I need to grab that sword first; that's crucial!"

After thinking for a while, he still felt it wasn't safe: "Maybe I should draw a teleportation circle on the ground? But what about the energy supply? I used my own blood on Star-Lord's Spaceship, and that could only be used once. Do I need to bleed again?"

Unbeknownst to him, dark clouds gathered overhead, and it started to rain.

Arthur gathered colorless energy above his head, forming a protective shield that caused raindrops to slide off to the sides when they fell on him.

"Back when I read novels, those top experts always seemed to walk through the rain without getting wet."

Arthur sighed: "Now I can do it too…"

The rain made Arthur reconsider drawing the teleportation circle on the ground; the rain would wash it away.

"I need to find a more secure place."

Using The Eye of Horus, he checked on Thor and found that the guy had failed to infiltrate and had begun a hand-to-hand fight.

He was wrestling with a large opponent in the heavy rain— quite the spectacle…

Turning his view, he saw a person with a bow and arrow, aiming at Thor from above.

"Is that Hawkeye?"

Arthur touched his chin. Since he used the 'alien transformation' last night, by the time they noticed, it was too late for Hawkeye to make an appearance.

Now, Arthur's mouth curled into a smile, and he pulled out the sniper rifle Pepper had given him…

Under the night sky, on the dirt mound, Arthur adjusted the angle of his sniper rifle, finally aiming at Hawkeye.

Hawkeye had his bow drawn and an arrow nocked, aimed at Thor.

However, a sudden chill ran through Hawkeye's heart— it was the presence of killing intent!

His heart tightened, and he quickly turned to look in the direction of the killing intent. Just as he was about to shoot, he found nothing there, and the killing intent had vanished completely.

"Hm?"

Hawkeye was puzzled: "Was that an illusion?"

He frowned; it shouldn't have been an illusion. The momentary life-and-death crisis had been real and clear!

He scanned the area again for the source of the killing intent but found nothing, so he turned back to continue aiming at Thor.

The fight was over on this side. Thor had defeated the large opponent, torn through the plastic sheeting, and reached Mjolnir.

Hawkeye opened his communicator: "If we don't stop this…"

Before he could finish, a cold killing intent surged again, even stronger than before.

Who was hiding in the shadows?

He had to act!

Without thinking, he released an arrow, but it shot into empty space.

Hawkeye, with a cold expression, drew another arrow from his quiver and nocked it, but his expression changed from cold to confused.

"There's no one…"

He searched in several directions but still found no sign of the enemy.

"Hawkeye, it's over. What were you shooting at?"

Coulson's voice came through the earpiece. Hawkeye thought for a moment and replied, "I might not have been resting well recently… so I…"

Before he could finish, the chilling killing intent struck again!

This was definitely not an illusion!

Someone was definitely messing with him!

Hawkeye's eyes reddened with rage. He scanned the direction of the killing intent but still found nothing.

"Damn it!"

Over and over again!

It was impossible to keep experiencing these illusions!

He said over the comms, "There might be an enemy hiding in the shadows. I'm going to check it out."

He chose his words carefully due to the persistent failure to find anything.

"Be careful!" Coulson's expression changed, realizing the situation seemed serious.

Hawkeye needed to get close to investigate, indicating the opponent was not ordinary. Otherwise, a single arrow from a distance would have solved the problem; if one arrow wasn't enough… then two would do the trick!

---

Arthur had tucked himself behind a dirt mound, laughing so hard he nearly couldn't straighten up.

Of course, he had no intention of killing Hawkeye— there was no benefit in that for him— but he enjoyed the prank.

However, when The Eye of Horus showed Hawkeye leaving the camp, Arthur's smile widened even more.

"Hmm…"

Arthur thought for a moment and put away his sniper rifle.

Seeing Hawkeye come out was an unexpected surprise.

After a brief pause, he pressed something on his chest, instantly changing into a new outfit.

He now wore a simple chest armor, leather pants, and a battered horned helmet on his head.

This was one of Arthur's many disguises. During his time in the universe, he often used shapeshifting to alter his appearance while wandering aimlessly with Star-Lord.

Naturally, he had several outfits to match.

Quietly, he activated his shapeshifting skill. In the next second, his body swelled.

His original physique was already muscular and solid, but he had always seemed a bit thin. Now, however, he looked as if he had been possessed by the Hulk, his muscles bulging impossibly!

With a square jaw, a full beard, and a chest covered in thick hair, he looked every bit like a barbarian.

He casually pulled out an Asgardian two-handed greatsword from his Disassemble space, and now, holding it with one hand felt just right!

Arthur waited in the shadows for a while. When The Eye of Horus showed that Hawkeye was only about 50 meters away, he suddenly jumped out, wildly swinging his greatsword. "DEMACIA!!!"

Hawkeye was so startled that he almost called for backup!

What the hell is this?

The style doesn't match at all!

Without thinking, he raised his gun and fired. As the gunfire rang out, he saw the "barbarian" in front of him hold the greatsword horizontally in front of his chest. With a metallic clang, sparks flew, and the bullet was deflected.

Hawkeye's heart skipped a beat. Deflecting bullets with a sword? He'd never seen this move before!

He instinctively reached for his bow, but suddenly saw the "barbarian" drop his sword to the ground and softly mutter, "Shunpo!"

What in the world is Shunpo?

The next second, Hawkeye realized the "barbarian" had disappeared. When he reappeared, he was only ten meters away.

Before the thought even finished crossing Hawkeye's mind, the "barbarian" was now less than thirty meters away.

Shooting was pointless now. In a split second, Hawkeye drew his bow, nocking three arrows, and pulled it to full draw, the arrows ready to strike like thunder!

Swoosh, Swoosh, Swoosh!

Three arrows shot out, each aimed at different directions, sealing off all possible paths for the "barbarian" to advance!

At the same time, Hawkeye quickly nocked another arrow, keeping a close watch.

The first set of three arrows flew straight toward the "barbarian." But just before hitting, his massive figure suddenly disappeared, reappearing in midair. He stepped on the shaft of an arrow, leaping forward, while Hawkeye fired off another three arrows.

And Hawkeye wasn't idle; he grabbed another three arrows in hand, preparing for another strike.

Six arrows in total, he aimed to block off every possible escape route for the "barbarian."

Hawkeye was confident. By the time the last three arrows flew, they'd surely hit their mark!

But just as this thought crossed his mind, something unexpected happened.

The huge "barbarian" in front of him moved as if he had no weight at all, weaving through the air in every direction. Sometimes he would charge diagonally, sometimes hang upside down in midair, advancing with impossible angles and maneuvers.

Hawkeye took a deep breath to steady himself, readying his final three arrows.

But then, the "barbarian" suddenly let out a roar, and with both hands, swung his greatsword from above. "Getsuga... Tenshō!!!!"

As the sword fell, a layer of white light surrounded it, detaching from the blade and hurtling toward Hawkeye at lightning speed.

Hawkeye's face changed. He didn't know what this move was, but from the roar and the white light, he could tell it wasn't ordinary.

He had no time to draw his bow, quickly dodging to the side.

He managed to dodge the light, but when it hit the ground, it didn't even stir up a speck of dirt. In his confusion, he suddenly saw the "barbarian" right in front of him, grabbing at his bow. Hawkeye froze, gripping his bow tightly.

"Let go!" The "barbarian" roared.

Hawkeye refused to let go, but the greatsword came swinging down. He had no choice but to let go of the bow and roll away. After rolling a few times, he looked up, but the "barbarian" was nowhere to be seen.
