"Where are the others?" Cassie asked as soon as they reached the ABC bar.
Rona shrugged her shoulders, making Cassie look at Vince.
"Vince?"
"It's Violet, Cassie. Geez," he said with a grimace.
Cassie arched her brow and shook her head. Vince is their gay friend. Aside from Rona and Vince, there are two more that fill her circle of friends. But she spent most of her time with Rona and Vince since they're all in the same field—Surgeon-Physicians. While Mish and Jake are both Pediatricians.
"They pulled out since something urgent happened, and it came from the hospital director," Rona stated.
Cassie nodded and roamed her eyes inside the bar. It's still early, and the bar is common for elites. All professionals, politicians, and the like gathered here. This is not the first time that she has entered this bar. The first was during the celebration of the hospital where they worked. They held it here. And this will be her second.
"Let's go. I reserved a spot for us yesterday," Rona uttered, her voice blended with the soft music.
Neon lights filled the other corner of the bar, while the spot where Rona took them was dim and kinda comfortable for Cassie. She doesn't mingle with many people aside from her friends. Making Rona used to call her an introvert.
"Gosh, I didn't see any good-looking-yummy guy—"
"Stop with the flirting, Vince," Rona roared.
Despite the dim lights, Cassie can see Vince's facial expression. She let out a soft chuckle as she sat on the black single couch.
"Don't tell me you're gonna play smash and cursing here tonight?" Cassie asked as she rested her elbows on the armrest.
Vince rolled his eyes. "Just order our drinks, Rona. I'm thirsty."
Rona scoffed. "Yeah, right. You always enjoy it when it's free," she said sarcastically.
Vince laughed as he crossed his legs. "Of course! Plus, you have to find me a boy to do—"
"VIP rooms are upstairs. You can explore on your own. Exclude us with your kinky thoughts," Rona asserted, and after that, she called a waiter.
Cassie shook her head as she watched the two of them. The group is always happy and alive when the two argue. Even though sometimes, they debate over nonsense things.
"I would love to have a drink with the lowest alcohol, Ro," she said the moment Rona met her gaze.
Rona arched her brow. "No. We're gonna get drunk tonight."
Cassie's eyes widened. "What? No!"
"Yes!" Rona and Vince said in unison. "We can all take our off tomorrow. In case I already reserved a room for the three of us—Oh, for the two of us," Rona delivered.
"The two of you?" Vince asked in confusion.
Rona flipped her hair and smirked at Vince. "Yes. Got a problem with that?"
"How about me?"
Rona laughed. "Oh, you can find a handsome dick-ass tonight, Violet," she teased.
Cassie sighed. "Enough with that. Rona, I can't get drunk. Even if this bar is secured, what if someone sees me and reports me to my father?" she asked. She admits she has fears.
"Oh, come on, Cici. Don't be afraid of your father, Keagan. Trust me, he will not find out. But," she paused as she signed on the waiter's booklet, "if he will find out, we're here to back you—"
"Excuse me! Exclude me," Vince remarked.
"You're a coward, son of a bitchy friend," Rona let out.
"Rona, enough with that. I will just drink in a way I can handle, please."
Rona sighed and finally gave up. "Fine."
Cassie smiled and said, "Thank you."
After a few minutes, the bar started to be filled up. People enter it by group or by twos. The music started to get lively. However, Cassie prefers it to be sweet music or at least a calmer one.
The waiter put a bucket of beer and a bottle of wine on their table. Vince asked her what to drink, but she told him to do it alone. She grabbed the beer bottle from the bucket and checked the labels first.
Rona and Vince laughed at her and told her that she didn't have to do the checking.
"Just drink," she uttered.
"Come on, Doc. We're here to chill. Having beers and wines is not bad if we only do it occasionally," Rona said as she sipped on her bottle.
"You know what, Rona, you're so cheap," Vince then talked.
Rona arched her brow. "Hmm?"
"You should order those mixed drinks or at least one of the expensive ones here."
"If you two won't stop? It's better for me to go home," Cassie said, and it was at that moment that they knew she wasn't joking.
They both glared at each other, and after that, only the chattering, laughter, and live music were heard.
Great.
Cassie let herself check everyone in their surroundings. Trying to stay alert in case someone might know her. Keagan, her father, is an influential man. He's hungry for power, making him let her marry one of the stars in the business industry, the Carters.
Drake Carter, the firstborn of the Carter clan, is her fiancé. Arrogant—one word to describe him.
They were engaged three months ago, and her father decided that they would get married at the end of the year.
She doesn't love that man. It was her father's choice.
"What the!"
The building of her thoughts collapsed when she heard Vince's voice.
"Look who's here!" Vince exclaimed, making Rona smash the back of his head. Vince glared at Rona and was about to strangle her when Cassie stopped them.
"Don't make a scene," she warned.
Vince glared at Rona and moved away from her. She shook her head.
"What is it that you saw, Vince?" she asked.
Vince smiled widely, and she followed his gaze. She frowned. There's nothing special to be surprised with.
"What?"
Vince arched his left brow. "Can't you see, Theodore Smith is here!"
"Can you please lower your voice?" Rona remarked, feeling irritated.
"Whatever. Gosh, girls. You should be surprised by his presence. He seldom goes out from his den," Vince continued.
"There's nothing special with Theodore the ruthless Smith," Cassie said and sipped on her bottle, tossing it all.
"What? Aren't you curious why he's like that?" Vince asked.
Rona let out a chuckle. "Every person in town wouldn't dare to find out. I don't know what's wrong with your mind," Rona asserted.
Cassie continued to drink and never left Theo's spot. He's famous. He's known to be heartless. But she was not interested.
"Why don't we make a bet?" Rona suddenly thought of a stupid idea.
"Pass," she said.
Rona laughed. "Oh, come on. This will be easy," she assured.
Vince, who's a flirtatious guy, agreed. "I will play it."
"Order some drinks on the counter and sit beside Theodore," Rona stated.
Cassie smirked. "That would be easy for Vince," she replied.
Vince grimaced. "No way. Can't you see? No one dares to go near him. Even those bitches who drooled over him."
Rona arched her brow. "It's a bet. Don't you want to play?"
Vince crossed his arms in front of his chest. "We must not be involved with Theodore Smith."
"Scared? I remember your excited face when you saw him earlier," Cassie said and laughed.
Vince rolled his eyes. "But I didn't say I will flirt with him. I'm just happy to see him. Who wouldn't? He's a handsome Greek God-like guy."
Cassie shook her head. "Just continue playing. I'll just go to the bathroom," she said and left.
