“A little boy? What is he…a certified genius?” He laughed, obviously thinking it was a joke.

“I can’t say for certain.” She’d been afraid to have him tested. “But Gunther—my fiancé—saw some of the things Denny drew, and…well, Gunther was a genius and felt Denny might be even smarter than he was.”

“I see.”

“Delilah probably didn’t want to talk about it over the phone in case…in case it was bugged.” Babe had been cautious approaching the mansion-like house where Delilah lived. She and Denny had entered through a rear door, and she was positive no one had seen her, but…There was always that possibility.

Tim looked startled. “You actually think they’d do that?”

“Yeah. I know it sounds paranoid, but the people who are looking for us—I’m not being melodramatic when I say they’re dangerous.”

“Then they’ll be in for a surprise.” Tim’s expression became grim. “So are we.”
