“Go take care of it. I’ll deal with the bacon.”

“Make sure you leave some for me.”

“Quinn, I’m hurt you’d think I would deprive you of bacon.”

“I’m sure.” He grinned and kissed the corner of my mouth. “I’ll look in on Joe while I’m up there.”

“Thanks.” I patted his butt, and he gave me a sultry glance. God, being married was great. How come I’d never tried it before? Oh, yeah. I hadn’t met Quinn back then.

I found a needle and thread in a kitchen drawer, and I threaded the needle and began stitching the seam of my son’s teddy bear. My stitches didn’t have the surgical precision of Jeanette Van Orden’s, but they were tidy enough and would keep the stuffing in place.
