Everly was twelve when a despair fragment had fallen to on her at her hardest time. She was targeted by the people for plagiarism, her song's where her own not anyone else's she could not fathom why anyone would steal her songs.
Her new songs became poison that corrupted others is due to the despair fragment.
Despair Fragments are fallen pieces of rage from a lost race that cursed everything that lives. To counteract that Star jewels where created by another lost people and spread across the universe to other words.
As you can see, Everly had to be dealt with by those who owned Star Jewels. She was an antagonist and a pretty good one. Since she stayed as one of the main villains to the group of main protagonists. She was the longest running antagonist.
As Cheesy as it sounds this is a magical girl series, staring not only magical girls but also boys as the main cast as male's who transform with the female members of the group.
Eventually, the despair fragment that gave her the power to corrupts others as well as herself, was destroyed by her own hands.
Everly's mother abandoned her when things got rough. While her father migrated to Japan to get in touch with her. He came to find her with his new wife and her stepbrother who is about one at the time.
In the end she destroyed the despair fragment to save her younger brother.
It took a while to heal the troubles of the past, but eventually her songs also started to change. She was in the end chosen by a star jewel and became an official member of the Star Gems group. But, also independent from them.
Towards the end of the story, the other's Star Gems sacrificed themselves including Everly. To Destroy the despair heart permeantly.
But, that is all there is, the moment of sacrifice was the last thing.
