"I'm sorry, Sofia. I will make it up to you," he leaned his forehead against mine. "Just give me a chance."

The beating of my heart is deafening. All I could focus on was his breath that was caressing my lips. His face is so close I can almost taste him. "Kiss me..."

Chase let out a sigh and claimed my lips, wiping the tears that escaped the confines of my eyelids. These tears differ from all the tears I shed for him. Knowing the lengths he went through to show me how much I mean to him is enough for me; it's enough for now.

The gentle kiss gave fuel to the fire burning inside me. My hands wound around Chase's neck while he came around my waist. The little space between our bodies disappeared, and all I could focus on was how good he was making me feel.

His tongue teased my lips to give him entry, and I did, needing to taste him as well. Our mouths molded perfectly the same way our bodies clashed like puzzle pieces.

"Baby girl," Chase groaned when I let my hand wander under his shirt, feeling the ridges of his fine muscles. "I don't have a condom with me," he pulled away, lips swollen and wet.

"I'm on birth control," I bite my lips, feeling heat crawl all over my skin, "but… are you clean?"

Chase let out a grunt, "I haven't been with anyone since my last test." After saying this, he reached for the hem of my hoodie and pulled it over my head, leaving me in my spaghetti-strapped shirt. "Are you sure about this? I can wait…."

I reached for his leather jacket and tugged it off of his shoulders. "I am. Make me yours, Chase."

Chase chuckled, shaking his head. "You might regret saying that, Sofia."

I gasped when he reached for my top and ripped it in two. "Did you have to do that?!" I protested, but my whines died down to a moan when Chase attacked my lips for a needy kiss. His hand slid from my nape down to my spine, unclasping my bra from behind, freeing my heavy breast. I didn't wait any longer for his hand to come around to palm both of my peaks, fingers twirling my nipples, tugging them, easing away the tension from my body.

"Chase,"….

.

.

My fingers halted their soft tapping on my laptop when someone set down a glass of iced mocha on my table. I was suddenly hauled into reality as I stared at the mouth-watering cold beverage and delectable whip cream.

People's soft chatter, laughter filled my ears. Coffee's rich aroma mixed with sweet pastries enticed my nose as my eyes traveled from the iced mocha, meeting Selena's bored expression.

"I didn't…." I said, shaking my head.

Selena's thin purple-painted lips pursed on a thin line as she tucked the tray she was holding under her arms. In my five years of visiting this cafe, never once have I seen this woman with a smile on her lips. It seems that she was born with a permanent scowl.

Using her black talons, she pointed towards the booth at the other side of the Coffee Station. There, Simon waved at me with a wide grin.

Now I'm infected by Selena's scowl.

On an ordinary day, I'd come to this cafe at six in the afternoon and leave until I finished a chapter or two of the novel I was working on. This had been my routine until two weeks ago when Simon suddenly popped into my life like an annoying pimple.

He's a broker from Manhattan One Realty, confident - too confident for my liking- and had that look that screamed 'I get what I want.' Sadly for me, he made sure that I was well aware that he had his eyes on me.

Simon is pleasing in the eyes. Fair skin, clean-cut hair, blue eyes with an athletic body, dazzling smile, and not to mention, high-handed. But I have no interest in him, no spark, no butterflies.

I changed my schedule to avoid him. Instead of coming in the afternoon, I went to the Coffee Station in the morning. Something about coffee aroma kept the mind fog and writer's block away. With Simon discovering my habit change, I might need to look for another coffee spot.

Ignoring him was useless. I tried. I didn't even know how he discovered who I was since I'm writing under the pseudonym, Athena Carter. Miranda, my publisher, was the only person I came in contact with within signing my novels in NW publishing, but she swore that they kept their end of the contract in keeping my identity. Hence, the unsolved case of who told Simon I'm an erotica writer.

Some people would say that having fans is an amazing feeling. I love what I do, but I also value my privacy. That's where my annoyance from Simon comes in.

Two weeks ago, he joined me on my table, pulled out my first published novel, Dare With The Devil, and asked me to sign it. I refused, telling him that he got the wrong person. He didn't believe me and kept coming back each night with an indecent offer for us to relieve all the erotic scenes in my book. I can file a case against him, I know, but I don't like drawing attention to myself.

I put the chapter I'm writing on hold with a huff and shut my computer down. One by one, I carefully shoved my things inside my messenger bag, doing a quick sweep on the table before pushing my round glasses up my nose, ready to leave before Simon could come to my table and ruin my day.

I pulled twenty dollars from my pocket and set it on the table, a tip for Selena.

"Gabriela James?" A deep voice echoed from the side of the booth, halting me from stepping out. Looking up, I was met with another man in a gray suit and tie, holding a briefcase in one hand. His sandy blond hair was neatly brushed back to perfection; wrinkles adorned the side of his eyes as he eyed me with curiosity. I'd put him about twice my age, but the calm expression he had on made him look a bit younger.

"Yes?"

The older man extended his hand towards me, "my name is Jayson Moore, Magdalena James' lawyer."

At his mention of that name, my legs lost the ability to keep my entire body upright. My hand gripped the edge of the laminated wood table for balance as I accepted Jayson's hands.

Questions swirled in my head. It had been fifteen years since I last heard from my sister, and the appearance of this man sends nothing but dark clouds in my head.

I slumped back in my chair as Jayson occupied the seat opposite mine.

While Selena took his order, in which he only asked for a glass of water, I stared at the man blankly. He must've seen the confusion painted on my face; I never hid it anyway because he pulled out a white card from his pocket and handed it to me. It contains his details and the name of the law firm he's working for in Manhattan.

Selena came back with a deeper scowl, but she's the least of my concern right now.

"Why are you here?" my voice came out strained, stopping Jayson from opening his briefcase. I cleared my throat, shaking my head, forgetting all my manners. "I'm sorry. It's just that I haven't heard from her in a long time-"

Jayson's lips stretched into a sympathetic smile which only deepened my confusion. "I understand. You were a hard woman to find, Gabriella. It took my PI three months to locate you."

"You had me investigated?"

"Yes." He pulled out a blue folder from his briefcase and handed it to me. I opened it, and the first thing I saw was the words Last Will And Testament Of Magdalena James in bold letters.
