Capítulo 10: Badass Emma!

"Hey, forget about the freak, who's that handsome boy sitting beside her?" one girl whispered, her voice tinged with a mix of intrigue and disdain.

"Who?" All the girls turned towards Emma, their curiosity piqued. Their chatter ceased as they craned their necks to catch a glimpse of the mysterious boy. To their astonishment, they were met with the sight of an exceptionally charming young man sitting beside her.

"Oh my goodness! I've never laid eyes on such a captivating individual! Who is he?" one exclaimed, her eyes widening with amazement.

"He must be new here at the college. I've never seen him before," another chimed in, her voice filled with a mixture of excitement and curiosity.

"Exactly! With a face like that, he couldn't have gone unnoticed," remarked a third, her tone a blend of envy and admiration.

"But is he a first-year student?" one of them questioned, her brow furrowed in confusion.

"I doubt it. I know all the freshmen," another replied, shaking her head, her curiosity deepening.

"Then who is he?" As the girls continued to speculate amongst themselves, a boy approached the group, a knowing smile playing on his lips, ready to put an end to their curiosity.

"He's Xavier Quinn, a third-year student. He recently transferred here," he revealed, shedding light on the enigmatic newcomer.

"Xavier Quinn, as in the heir of the Quinn empire?" The air seemed to grow heavier with the weight of his name.

"Yes, that's him," the boy confirmed, nodding.

"Oh my goodness! I never realized that the heir of the Quinn Empire is such a handsome man!" one girl gushed, her cheeks flushed with excitement.

"I heard he's quite cold. Keeps to himself mostly," another girl added, her eyes still fixed on Xavier, a mix of fascination and apprehension in her gaze.

"He's definitely caught everyone's attention," remarked a third girl, her gaze lingering on him, a hint of longing in her eyes.

"Well, I suppose we'll just have to find out more about him," another girl said, her voice filled with determination and curiosity, as they continued to watch Xavier, each lost in their thoughts about the mysterious heir.

While everyone was talking about Xavier, his whole attention was on Emma who was sitting beside him. While everyone was looking at him, the only the person he was looking at is not even bothered to show even a slightest intrest in him.

Emma sat in her usual spot beside the window, her face partially hidden under a cap and a mask. The morning light filtered through the glass, casting a soft glow on her notebook, where she was quietly jotting down notes.

Rebecca, followed by her entourage, stormed down the aisle. She stopped abruptly in front of Emma’s desk, her eyes narrowing with irritation. “Hey, you! You're in my seat. Move it, now!”

Emma didn’t respond immediately. She continued writing, her movements calm and deliberate, as if she hadn’t heard the demand.

Rebecca’s voice rose, dripping with condescension. “Did you hear me? I said get up! I want that seat.”

Slowly, Emma looked up, her eyes meeting Rebecca’s with an icy detachment. “I heard you the first time,” she said, her voice flat and cold. “I’m not going anywhere.”

Rebecca’s face twisted with frustration. “Who do you think you are? You’re just some nobody hiding under that mask and cap. That seat is mine today because I want to sit next to him.”

Rebecca pointed towards the side, where Xavier, the new transfer student, sat watching the exchange with mild curiosity.

Emma’s gaze didn’t waver. Her eyes, though cold, held a quiet intensity. “This seat has always been mine. You wanting it today doesn’t change that. Find another seat.”

Rebecca’s friends exchanged uneasy glances, sensing the tension. Xavier continued to watch, intrigued by Emma’s calm defiance.

Rebecca leaned in, her voice dropping to a threatening whisper. “You don’t want to mess with me. I get what I want, and today I want that seat.”

Emma remained motionless, her voice steady and unyielding. “Intimidation might work on others, but not on me. So unless you want to embarrass yourself, I suggest you walk away.”

A hush fell over the nearby students, their attention riveted on the confrontation. Rebecca’s bravado flickered as she noticed the growing audience. Her cheeks flushed with a mix of anger and embarrassment.

“You’ll regret this,” Rebecca spat, her voice shaking slightly. “You’ll see.”

Emma’s eyes remained cold and unblinking. “Maybe. But today, you’re the one walking away.”

Rebecca glared at Emma for a moment longer before turning on her heel and storming to the front of the class, her friends trailing behind her.

Emma returned to her notes, her expression unchanged. Xavier, unable to contain his curiosity, and ended up whispering to himself. “That was impressive,”

Emma heard but didn’t respond. She simply resumed her writing, as if nothing had happened, her focus unwavering. She didn’t seek approval or acknowledgment. She was just trying to get through another day, hidden behind her mask and cap, her true self concealed from the world.
