Capítulo 23: Do You Resent Me?

Once the call with Chen Hao ended, Li Qin Yao lay on the bed and stared at the ceiling. Her heart surged with sweetness after talking to her boyfriend. It was apparent that Chen Hao was good with his words. That has been one of the things she liked about him. After all, who wouldn't want a boyfriend who can speak sweet words to them?

Just as Li Qin Yao was about to shut her eyes, she heard a soft knock on the door. Li Qin Yao stood up and opened the door. Her grandfather, Li Ren Xin, stood outside. "Grandfather? What's the matter?"

Li Ren Xin smiled. "Are you busy? Can we talk for a moment?"

Li Qin Yao immediately knew the reason her grandfather was looking for her. Her cousin, Li Mu Bai had hinted to her about their grandfather's intention, and Li Qin Yao knew that her grandfather would find a chance to talk to her before his birthday banquet.

"Sure," Li Qin Yao nodded and followed her grandfather into his office. She sat down on the sofa and waited for her grandfather to speak.

"Yao Yao," Li Ren Xin cleared his throat once. "Grandfather actually owe you an apology."

Li Qin Yao lowered her gaze. She could guess the reason her grandfather wanted to apologize to her.

"Your grandfather had failed to protect you. I," Li Ren Xin paused and sighed. "I did not trust you."

As the older generation, it was hard for him to apologize to the younger generation. However, Li Ren Xin knew that he could not let these things passed. He was wrong, and therefore, he needed to apologize and said the words in his mind.

Two years ago, during the scandal, Li Ren Xin had chosen to listen to others. In the end, his granddaughter decided to resign from the company. Back then, he did not even try to stop her or protect her.

After Li Qin Yao's father died, his granddaughter had stayed with him and his wife. Because of this, Li Qin Yao was quite close to them. After her granddaughter resigned, she chose to move away from the capital and stayed with her mother in B City. Li Ren Xin knew that his granddaughter must be feeling disappointed in him.

A few months after Li Qin Yao moved away, Li Ren Xin received a letter from an anonymous with a report about the manager of their suppliers.

Upon further probing, Chairman Li found out that the manager was involved in approving the purchasing of unauthorized materials. His granddaughter had nothing to do with the incident. But once Li Ren Xin tried to look for the manager, the man had long disappeared.

Her granddaughter was framed, and he had not done anything about it.

"Grandfather, there is no need for you to apologize. I understand that you must have your difficulties," Li Qin Yao said. "I was involved in such a huge scandal. It would be hard for you to resist the stockholders' pressure. It was such a big scandal that even the media would focus on the LQ Group. If you did not make your decision, then I would be guilty of bringing the company down. Grandfather, you worked hard for this company. I understand that LQ Group is your heart and soul."

Although Li Qin Yao was disappointed at the beginning, she understood that with no concrete proof, she had no way to refute others accusation. The witness who could testify she had nothing to do with the accident had suddenly disappeared. Without her witness, there was nothing else she could do.

Her grandfather wanted to demote her, but Li Qin Yao knew that it would be too stupid if she continued to work with people who wanted to bring her down.

It doesn't matter if working with LQ Group Property would mean continuing her father's legacy. Her life was more important. She thought that if she had persisted, she might lose her life. Besides, Li Qin Yao still has her mother. If something happened to her, who will look after her mother?

Hearing his granddaughter's words, Li Ren Xin could only feel sorry for what his granddaughter has gone through. "Yao Yao, do you resent me?"

"Grandfather, I don't resent you," Li Qin Yao gave her grandfather a smile. "I won't lie. I was disappointed at the beginning. But as time passed, I thought that perhaps God wanted me to stay with my mother and perform my filial duty to her."

Li Ren Xin let out another long sigh. He felt sorry for the mother and daughter. It seemed that they had suffered a lot in Li's family. "Yao Yao," Li Ren Xin hesitated for a while. "What do you think about returning to LQ Group?"

Even though Li Qin Yao had heard the rumor that her grandfather wanted her to return from her assistant, Li Qin Yao still found that her grandfather's question came too sudden.

"I-I don't know."

"After you resigned, your cousin, Li Mu Bai was elected as the president of LQ Group. Although grandfather thinks that Mu Bai was good as the president, I thought that LQ Group was at its best when the two of you were together."

Li Qin Yao cast her eyes down as she heard his reason.

"Grandfather, regarding this matter, I cannot make my decision now. Give me some times to think about it."
