The question his uncle asked had many answers in his head. He thought his uncle had found out his secret skim or would question him for not being serious about the mission or question him about how close he was becoming with Claire.
Corey for a moment stared into space, still stuck to the chair his uncle fixed him to. "I want to care but just can't figure out why you brought me here," he let out with no fear.
The silence that followed made him look up in curiosity. Letting out his assumption would only put him in trouble.
"Now, do you care to tell me what you are doing?" The man asked. His men were standing behind Corey as if the boy would run out.
"I'm getting married," Corey answered and explained the reason he was getting married to Claire.
However, his uncle didn't express anything to his face. He just had a blank face as if knowing already all Corey was explaining to him.
"So that's why you keep protecting her?" The man asked.
"Protecting her?"
"I've had her monitored before you entered the story and she seemed to like your brother a lot and you playing Donald must mean, she's being so affectionate to you," Corey's uncle was too smart.
"She..."Corey looked down, Claire had been nice even though she was stubborn and yes she was affectionate. "We are not close," Corey countered.
Silence enveloped them again and this made Corey a bit scared. "You know you don't need to get married to her, I can just kill her and get her out of the way," Corey was shocked to hear that.
"Don't you want to claim everything from your brother? Then promote the company!" Corey had been this way to his uncle before but the man would always punish him whenever he tries to act smarter than him.
"I know about that but you are easily fooled, you'll fall in love with her and that would be risky, very risky, Corey!" Now as expected from Corey, his uncle's patience had run out. His true stern self began to peek through him.
Corey stared up at his uncle only to get pieces of paper on his face. "Those pictures are both of you together. Here," the photo from the bookstore was in his uncle's hand. "she was holding your hand, for what?!! Corey!! You are flirting when you are supposed to be focused on the mission!!"
His uncle's roar made him scared again so after staring at his uncle, he lowered his head, "I'll do whatever you want, just don't touch Claire, she has nothing to do with our revenge... please uncle I beg you," he mumbled at first but when begging, the volume of his voice increased.
"She's being sweet to you, right?" The man asked. He was a man with scars. "If you lie to me, this will be the end of you!"
"Yes!" Corey answered, he knew how his uncle was and he couldn't... shouldn't test his uncle's patience. "She's nice to me," he admitted.
"And you are falling in love with her?"
"No! I bet you don't have any pictures of me fighting with her to stay away from me, you only took pictures of what you wanted to see!!" He audaciously looked his uncle in the eyes and the man stayed quiet for a while.
Corey knew that whenever his uncle was being that he was deep in thought about how to deal with something and at this moment, he was thinking of how to make sure he had Corey trailed.
"If that's the case, I'll have William follow you, he'll be your new driver," Corey was surprised to hear that and then again, he shouldn't have. His uncle had done worse to him and this was just a little.
Who was Corey to disagree? He did as his uncle wanted and suddenly made Willam his driver.
Corey was taken back to his office after settling things with his uncle and staying solid with him on their mission.
He sat on his chair and bent to rest his head on the table to rest. Soon, he began to chew the inside of his mouth which was due to anxiety.
The more he remembered his uncle and family, the more his thoughts goes wild. Should he just take everything and run away?
He answered the question himself. Corey knew he wasn't capable. He knew what he was capable of and what he wasn't capable of.
His thoughts went wild again when he remembered that his uncle was planning to kill Claire. He had even threatened him to show no affection to Claire or else she was dead but how was he going to do that?
Still in his office, he now began to receive files from his employees and all he had to do was go through them before signing.
Corey was too tired and anxious to do anything so he took those documents and leap to his feet to head home. He was feeling sick again and his head was throbbing causing dizziness.
But since Willam was his driver now, he didn't need to drive. He just greeted his employees as he walk past them and gradually with his steps settle in his car. Corey knew himself to be weak that was why he stayed away from stress. His uncle also knew that and usually use that against him. He uses his weakness to threaten him to do as he wants.
"Are you okay?" Willam who was already in charge of the wheel noticed the weak look on Corey's face.
Corey lifted his eyes tiredly and stared at him through the rearview mirror. He just waved his hand as he felt detained to talk.
"You don't look okay, Corey," Willam stated.
"I just want to sleep, Willam, please stop talking." Corey pleaded due to the feeling that was surging up inside him. And soon, he found himself lying on the seat because his dizziness improved.
Willam wanted to ask again but didn't, he just drove silently to Corey's house. And by the time he got there, Corey was asleep already.
Opening the door to the back seat, planning to carry the man inside instead of waking him up, Willam noticed a car entertaining the building. Curiosity made him wait for the owner to park and come out and everything landed in Claire storming out of the car.
