Chapter 133: Immersive Role-Playing

"Thank you, great Mr. Fool," Derrick stood up and praised Mr. Fool.

After that, Derrick brought up another major issue concerning the existence of Silver City:

"The exploration team has returned. I mean the team led by Elder Lovia the Shepherd. They completed their exploration of the half-destroyed temple of the Fallen Creator and returned to Silver City. However, I noticed that several members I knew well had some changes in their personalities."

"What kind of changes?" Alice asked curiously.

"It feels like they are still the same people, but very different from before. The optimistic ones have become gloomy, and those who used to smile brightly now only give polite smiles," Derrick described all the anomalies he had discovered, including the sudden improvement in Elder Lovia the Shepherd's condition.

"...I can understand the previous points, but what does 'becoming normal' mean?" Alice looked curiously at the experienced Alger.

After pondering for a moment, Alger replied:

"The better possibility is that they have been contaminated.

"The worse possibility is that they have genuinely come to believe in the real, uh, 'Fallen Creator.'

"In such a case, they would become latent madmen, with their personalities, thoughts, and viewpoints all distorted.

"You can start from this angle and let the other members of the Six-Person Council notice something is wrong..."

"Wait," Alice raised her hand, "a follower of an evil god reporting that others might have become followers of an evil god?"

"Even if they don't believe it, others will start paying attention to that exploration team," Alger shook his head, "Silver City has survived until today because the higher-ups are always vigilant."

Alice nodded thoughtfully.

Little Sun said somewhat aggrievedly, "Actually, I have already reported to the Chief, but the Chief didn't seem to believe me very much..."

"Don't worry," Alger said in a deep voice, "I believe your Chief won't overlook any possible threat. The only issue is that their level of concern might not be enough, not even compared to their concern about you and Amon."

Before Little Sun could speak, Alger proposed a more specific solution—using this matter to fully expose the abnormalities of the exploration team members while clearing his own suspicions.

"I always feel like you often do similar things..." Alice said thoughtfully.

Alger silently lowered his head, avoiding the question.

"How should I make the members of that exploration team show the most thorough abnormalities?" Little Sun humbly asked for advice.

"Perhaps, you need items related to the True Creator..." Alice rested her chin on her hand and looked at the World.

"Does Mr. World have related items?"

Influenced by Alice, everyone also looked at the World.

The always silent World slowly opened his mouth under everyone's gaze:

"I have an item containing the spiritual contamination of the True Creator.

"I can lend you that item, but what can you offer in return?"

Seeing the opportunity, Little Sun immediately offered his terms:

"I can help you collect the characteristics of the Human-Skin Shadow, the pituitary gland of the Thousand-Faced Hunter's brain mutation, and one of the Thousand-Faced Hunter's blood samples. I will also try to find a way to remove the spiritual contamination from the item. Whichever I get first, I will use it as payment."

"This is secondary. The main thing is that you must not lose the item and remember to return it as soon as possible. Otherwise, you won't see Mr. World again..."

Alice silently thought as she looked at Mr. World, who emphasized the need to return the item promptly.

After Alger carefully taught Little Sun the specific steps, several more transactions took place at the Tarot Meeting, including Alice's request for auxiliary materials and Fors's inquiry about the Abraham family and the Apprentice pathway.

After the transaction session ended, Audrey slowly looked around and said with a faint smile:

"Last week, an interesting case happened in Backlund. The protagonist is known as the Thief 'Black Emperor.'"

Having played with Amon for several days, Alice was unaware of this matter. She blinked and looked at Audrey.

Unable to get an answer from Alice's reaction, Alger and Audrey were greatly disappointed, but thinking about what Alice had been doing last week, it seemed understandable.

Disappointed, Audrey continued to recount the events:

"The victim was a wealthy man named Capin. Many rumors identified him as the largest human trafficker in Backlund. The Thief 'Black Emperor' sneaked into his villa, took his life, and rescued many innocent girls imprisoned in the dungeon.

"When Capin's body was found, it was covered with a Tarot card, with the face showing 'Judgment' and 'Emperor.'"

"Wow," Alice exclaimed in amazement, turning to Mr. Fool and saying, "This Thief 'Black Emperor' must have made a lot of money."

Alice's remark made Audrey fall into deep thought. She suddenly remembered Miss Destiny mentioning that she owed Mr. Fool's follower 200 pounds.

...Do true gods also lack money?

In contrast, Alger, who was already accustomed to Miss Destiny's strange focus, showed little change in expression. He was still more concerned about the identity of the Thief 'Black Emperor.'

However... Miss Destiny is really living as a human in an immersive role-playing manner. She seems to be genuinely living as a human, but some of her reactions are not quite human...

Is this also a form of role-playing?

Alger was startled by his own thoughts, but his mind continued to wander uncontrollably.

If Mr. Fool's predicament is due to obstacles in contacting reality, then Miss Destiny's predicament...

Perhaps her lost memories are her own doing?

Does she really need to start living as a "human" from scratch and walk the path from "human" to "god" again?

Is this a ritual requirement? Or a way to achieve a certain stable state...

"Yes," Audrey's words woke Alger from his thoughts, "The Thief 'Black Emperor' stole all the valuables from Capin's safe, but the most important thing was killing Capin and his evil subordinates and rescuing those girls..."

In the gray fog, Mr. Fool really wanted to speak up for himself—after all, he didn't get a penny, and the real beneficiaries of the safe's contents were some subsequent investigators.

But as Mr. Fool, he couldn't do that. He could only smile indifferently and say:

"My follower played a minor role in this matter.

"He obtained the characteristics of two Extraordinary individuals from this incident and hopes to sell them as soon as possible. One corresponds to Sequence 8's 'Guardian,' and the other corresponds to Sequence 7's 'Inquisitor.'"
