Chapter 22: Hu Zhengchu - Archaeologically, I'm Not as Skilled as Him

He found himself scolded inexplicably, and he couldn't contain his anger any longer.

"Are you conducting protective excavation?" he asked.

The members of the archaeological team nearby heard his question and responded with sarcasm, "You, as migrant workers, also claim to know archaeology?"

This remark didn't sit well with Liu Datou and the workers around him.

They gathered around, and it seemed like they were ready to use their tools to confront the members of the archaeological team.

"Arrogant!" Liu Datou shot a glare at the archaeological team member who had spoken, then pointed to the nearby perfectly intact cultural relics and coldly retorted, "Open your eyes and take a good look. Tell me, which of these cultural relics have been damaged?"

Hu Zhengchu furrowed his brow and, compelled by Liu Datou's challenge, examined the thousands of cultural relics before him.

He bent over, carefully observing each one, and to his surprise, each cultural relic appeared to be entirely intact, showing no signs of damage.

Half an hour later, after meticulously comparing and inspecting each cultural relic, Hu Zhengchu concluded that over 95% of the unearthed cultural relics remained intact.

"95%!" This number filled him with excitement and made his heart tremble.

You see, even the archaeological team he led could typically only ensure the integrity of 80% of the unearthed cultural relics. The rate of intact cultural relics before him was astonishingly high.

"Could it be... other professional archaeological teams arrived earlier?" Hu Zhengchu wondered, speculating about how this could be possible.

As this thought crossed his mind, he turned to Liu Datou and asked, "Which archaeological team conducted this excavation?"

Liu Datou rolled his eyes and responded with irritation, "Archaeological team? Where do you see an archaeological team? My comrades and I excavated these relics with our own hands."

The archaeological team member who had belittled the workers earlier chimed in sarcastically, "You common folks actually think you know how to excavate?"

Seeing this, Hu Zhengchu frowned slightly, and Liu Datou sneered while saying, "We may be common folks who lack your education, but our boss Qin knows what he's doing. He taught us!"

Liu Datou then pointed towards Qin Mu, who had been observing the situation from the sidelines, and proceeded to explain what had transpired.

"What?" Hu Zhengchu exclaimed, his eyes widening in disbelief. The other archaeologists shared similar expressions of skepticism.

In their eyes, Qin Mu was merely a young man in his twenties. While he might have some knowledge of archaeology, directing a group of uneducated construction workers in an archaeological excavation was beyond belief.

Even Hu Zhengchu, an eminent figure in the field of archaeology, couldn't fathom such an achievement.

"A bunch of uncultured peasants!" Liu Datou sneered, adding, "Let me tell you, our boss Qin also concluded that this tomb is the resting place of Liu Chen's son, the Han Dynasty's King of Changsha!"

Before Hu Zhengchu could respond, Liu Datou went on, "And here's the video footage of our archaeological excavation. You can watch it for yourselves."

He retrieved the video camera and played an eight-hour excavation video for the archaeological team.

The members of the archaeological team exchanged glances and carefully examined the footage. Afterward, they fell into a stunned silence.

In the video, under Qin Mu's guidance, Liu Datou and the other workers, despite their rough appearances, carefully excavated the tomb. Relics were uncovered one by one, and after eight hours of excavation, each cultural relic remained intact.

The members of the archaeological team, many of whom felt ashamed, couldn't help but feel embarrassed. Despite their years of studying archaeology, they couldn't match the skills displayed by these construction workers.

"This tomb... truly belongs to the son of Liu Chen, the King of Changsha during the Han Dynasty," Hu Zhengchu declared suddenly, echoing Qin Mu's earlier speculation.

The members of the archaeological team were once again astonished. They had initially dismissed Liu Datou's claims, believing that determining the identity of a tomb's owner required extensive archaeological knowledge and historical background. However, they were now confronted with evidence that contradicted their beliefs.

"Is it possible... that other professional archaeological teams arrived earlier?" Hu Zhengchu wondered aloud.

However, he quickly turned his gaze back to Qin Mu and wore a complex expression on his face. Leading a group of construction workers in an archaeological excavation and achieving an intact relic rate of over 95%, while also determining the tomb's owner through a few cultural relics—these were accomplishments he couldn't have imagined.

"You're giving me too much credit," Qin Mu responded with a slight smile, downplaying his achievements.

In the studio, as viewers heard Hu Zhengchu's acknowledgment, they were once again exhilarated by the turn of events.
