Capítulo 24: Chapter 24: A Long Dream

Luck had a dream. It was an extremely realistic one — one where he was experiencing someone else's life in its entirety.

What was unusual was that he retained his thoughts, yet he couldn't move within the body. It was like he was replaying a movie through the eyes of someone else.

Countless scenes flashed as Luck experienced being reborn, being raised and living the experiences of someone else.

Luck contemplated, 'Is this a lucid dream? Wasn't that entity going to destroy my soul?'

Luck was unsure of his situation. Currently, Luck was standing in front of an imposing man. His figure was tall and he exuded a domineering aura. The man had short, grey hair with two flawless black horns protruding from his head. He was wearing a black robe, as his red eyes gazed at Luck, or the body of Luck.

No matter what Luck tried to do, he couldn't move a single muscle nor let out a single sound.

It was then that 'Luck', or the person Luck's perspective was in, spoke,

"Father, what is the meaning of life?"

With the child's words, the man's eyes seemed to soften slightly as he spoke,

"I've told you to ask this question to your mother first."

"I have already. She told me that life is like an empty painting. We colour it through our motivations, ambitions and desires. We give our life meaning through our endless pursuits of comfortability and the joyous feeling of overcoming obstacles. But... I have no such ambitions or desires. Perhaps the only thing I am motivated by is to keep our clan safe." The child spoke without much thought.

The man seemed to be amused as he replied, "Haha, then perhaps that motivation is what will give your life meaning. At least, until you truly find your path, such a motivation will guide you."

"I see. Then... what gives your life meaning, father?" The child asked curiously.

The man thought for some time before saying,

"As descendants of Vitralis, I merely seek the longevity and prosperity of our clan. Through the maxims of our clan, I pursue the path of Chaos. However, it seems that this path is slowly fading — our clan becoming less powerful through the flow of time." The grey-haired man smiled with a hint of melancholy.

"Why is this path slowly dying? Isn't our Vitra Clan still a prestigious one?"

"Haha! My son, once you've learnt the history of our clan, you will surely be impressed and filled with sorrow! Our clan used to be a part of the 7 great clans of the Nethervoid. Now, all these fools have forgotten our name or at least forgotten the power we used to hold. Although we are descendants of the first and most mysterious Archdemon, countless years have already passed. Now, we've lost all our influence. Our ancestors had only left the teachings of Vitralis and his maxims. But to comprehend an Archdemon's insight is harder than severing the heavens, thus our clan has slowly been declining."

The man then took an ancient scroll out of his spatial ring as he spoke, "My son, perhaps one day, you may unravel the secrets left behind by our ancestors and bring glory back to our clan. This scroll contains the history of our clan that dates back to millions of years ago. If you can comprehend even a fraction of it, you will be bestowed with absolute power — chaos at your fingertips!"

The man then handed the scroll to the boy.

The child mumbled, his usual empty eyes seemingly gaining life, "Chaos?"

Luck watched everything play out as the scene ended before the pristine room he was previously in suddenly turned into a battlefield.

This time, Luck was floating in the sky, looking down over the countless beings that were also floating. They all had pure white wings on their backs, emitting a pure and holy aura — angels!

It looked as if there were thousands of dots within the sky, all standing in front of him with murderous intent.

Each being radiated an unfathomable pressure that could easily have killed Luck if he were in his original body.

These are masters of an unimaginable realm of strength! This level of strength is something that those at the mithril stage or even the magic users he had seen could not hope to compete against!

Luck noticed how his body was draped in a crimson robe, with his hands behind his back. Despite the countless people surrounding him, Luck remained indifferent — even feeling a sense of superiority.

With a wave of his hand, the fabric of reality seemed to distort as an unrelenting energy was released by him. The sun had disappeared, and the world was suddenly enshrouded in red. In an instant, all of those powerful enemies that had surrounded him had been disintegrated, as everything in a 1000 mile radius was erased from existence.

Life, ancient rivers and even mountains that towered to the heavens had been obliterated.

Luck felt his soul tremble from shock. What kind of power was this? This was simply inconceivable to him.

This...

This was true chaos.

Once again, the scene ended as another scene played out.

This cycle repeated itself.

Soon, thousands of scenes had been shown to Luck. With his mortal mind, he was experiencing countless years of experiences.

Unconsciously, his mind was slowly deteriorating as he started assimilating to the dream. He felt as if this dream world was becoming his reality.

However, as he was about to become fully assimilated and forget his true self, Luck's consciousness shook.

'No! All these scenes are not my own! I am a transmigrator with the name Yang Yichen. My true name is Luck! I was suddenly possessed by the entity in the crystal!'

As his identity began flooding back to him, the world around Luck seemed to be cracking.

The more he recalled everything that had happened to him; his death, the Sanctuary, Avice, those magic users, the explosion, everyone he killed, the more the world started crumbling.

Luck felt like his mind was splitting open as he clutched his head and dropped to the ground. A feeling of absolute torment overwhelmed him as he couldn't help but scream in pain.

"AHHH!"

The excruciating pain lasted for months in the dream world.

After who knew how long, the inhuman torture slowly faded. At last, Luck woke up from his dream. He opened his eyes to see that it was still nighttime and that he was drenched in cold sweat. His hands were covered in blood from how hard he gripped them when he was experiencing that torture.

Observing everything that happened, Luck was at a loss for words. Such power was achievable? Such unfathomable beings existed? Archdemons, Archangels, Primordials, God-beasts — they can all be found in this world?

Luck felt dazed. With those memories he absorbed, countless information was stored in his mind. Everything he experienced in that dream world was etched into his very being. It was impossible to forget.

In the eyes of such a formidable being, countless secrets have been shown to Luck.

Even his Alpha Cells were not what they were. Instead, it was a soul residue of the third Archdemon...

It had fused with his soul after that explosion during his experiment as a scientist, mutating it into a twisted and bizarre creation. Such a soul defied the very laws of the universe.

Luck let out a breath as he muttered,

"I'm alive. I am myself. My heart remains the same..."

Just from one soul fragment of that being had almost made him forget his true self. He would've become a completely different person had he not broken out of that world in time.

Although it was a single soul fragment, countless decades of experiences were relived by Luck. The being had over 10,000 years of experiences, so him being able to not have his soul damaged from the forceful absorption was fortunate.

That soul fragment he had absorbed showed all of the being's core memories. All of these memories are what led him to be who he is today. It had even showed his death that was caused by Luck.

A soul contained one's true self and memories. Luck's soul was mostly human, however, the residue of the third Archdemon had fused with him. He guessed this was how he dodged the cycle of life and death and retained his memories.

'That 10,000-year-old demon was truly unlucky. Out of all the humans in this world, he chose to try and destroy my soul...' Luck laughed in his heart. If it were anyone else, such a being would definitely have succeeded. After all, Luck had witnessed this person's life firsthand and knew his true power.

With a wave of his hand, destroying a mountain would be as easy as breathing.

This demon was of the Vitra Clan — a clan that had been created by Vitralis, the first Archdemon. His name was Azikul and he was its successor. Growing up, he was essentially emotionless until he found meaning in pursuing the path of chaos. In pursuit of chaos, he even destroyed his own clan!

In the Nethervoid hierarchy, this person was among the strongest, only beneath the Archdemons, the generals of the Archdemons, and a few others.

He has lived for 10,000 years, however, his actual age seemed to be much older. Apart from the final moments where he was killed by Luck, he had been sealed by a powerful angel — being trapped for likely half a million years during the Heavenly War. Luck experienced how he was in a sleep state during this time.

As the seal was weakening through the passage of time, he had eventually woken up and used the summoning by Alexander to escape, stealing a demon's body during the summoning.

In the core memories, Luck gained a lot of things.

Esoteric Arts... countless runes and symbols... weapon techniques... magic techniques.

As well as the most notable thing within his memories.

The scroll that was passed down by the first Archdemon!

"The Primordial Chaos Lightning Sutra!"

This scroll had been modified by Azikul, however, not by much. It simply fused the insights of primordial chaos and lightning together. Primordial chaos was a supreme verity — a truth or law of the universe whereas lightning was a natural element that exists in the world. There exists the law of lightning, but the law of lightning is different compared to its natural element.

"Will I be able to reach Azikul's strength with this Sutra?" Luck muttered, looking forward to how far he'd reach in his journey.

"The vastness of this world and its secrets... The dangers of this world and the treasures that exist... The infinite paths an individual can take to become a powerful entity..." Luck mumbled, his expression resolute and filled with ambition.

"Such a journey sounds interesting! I want to unravel the secrets of this world and be on par with those powerful beings in those memories — no! I will surpass them!" Luck's heart burned with ambition.

Only such a goal will give colour to his life!

Organising his memories to see how one can wield magic, Luck wanted to immediately attempt at manipulating the supernatural forces apart from life essence — the kind that can manipulate the forces of nature itself.

To his disappointment, he realised it would be a challenge with his current capabilities and resources.

To become a true magi, he had to first reach Inner Assimilation and form a spiritual core. But to do this, he needed magical resources to act as a catalyst.

Sighing, Luck stood up as he looked around to figure out where he was. Due to experiencing so many years of someone else's life, Luck felt as if he was in a drunken state, his mind thoroughly fatigued.

Despite so many years, it felt as if only a few minutes had passed in the real world.

Using his senses, Luck could vaguely hear the flow of water in the distance as he moved towards it.

Once he arrived at the river, Luck knelt down and scooped some of the water to drink.

After a few more scoops, Luck became fully hydrated as he gazed at the reflection of the river. Only the moonlight illuminated the forest at this hour. However, Luck could see his own reflection, causing him to be inwardly shocked.

In the reflection, he saw a youth with pale skin, long hair and deep, black eyes. His face was smooth and unblemished, giving the impression of a sheltered young lord, yet his sharp, abyssal eyes would cause one to feel unnerved. His eyebrows were thin but neat and his nose was small, forming a somewhat adorable image of a cold and expressionless boy.

Luck was already aware of these features, however, he was shocked to find that in the reflection, his hair colour had turned grey!

'Why did my hair colour become grey?' Luck pondered.

'Perhaps this is the aftereffect of absorbing such a powerful soul...' Luck contemplated with a strange expression. Luck knew that in the dream, the Vitra Clan were known for their grey hair.

'Am I part of their clan now? Technically, since I now possess the first Archdemon's teachings, I can be classed as their one and only successor as Azikul had massacred his entire clan.' Luck thought, finding his situation to be a little funny.

After being sealed for 500,000 years, Luck felt that the Vitra Clan had been completely forgotten and swept away through the flow of time. With the first Archdemon's teachings being left with Azikul, who was now dead, Luck was essentially the only one to remember and inherit the history of the Vitra Clan due to devouring those memories.

After thinking a little, Luck decided to take Vitra as his last name. Being the only person who has any knowledge of the Vitra Clan, Luck felt it was suitable. After all, he still needed a last name.

Luck Vitra...

One day, this name will shake the heavens and bring dread and worship to those who oppose him.
