As Grups was walking towards the entrance a man stopped him he was the guard .

As the man said that he stepped aside for Grup Who is now Norman to pass, as Norman walked past the gate, he was introduced to another entrance.
The real entrance, the entrance with the guard at it was the entrance to come into the land of the research facility, but the second entrance is for going into the research facility.
As norman was walking into the academy he went past some guards, after passing the guard he found himself in the stair well since that was the only way to go to the classrooms.
Even if norman is a genius with an iq of 350 at the age of 5 that doesn't mean he can get smart from just reading heck half of the things in the library are written in languages he didn't even know exist, he was only able to read the savants theory because it was written in japanese.
