100% Jujutsu Kaisen: Limitless / Chapter 57: Happy Exorcism

Capítulo 57: Happy Exorcism

Once arriving in a place like this, you realize that the situation of jujutsu sorcerers is far from ideal. Not only do they face external threats from curse users, cursed spirits, and even regular humans, but the more significant issue lies in the internal struggles.

Jujutsu sorcerers rarely maintain stable mental health. They are just a bit more rational than curse users. However, it's important to note that a curse user can easily become a jujutsu sorcerer with a mere thought.

This is a group of potential mental patients, who just haven't shown signs of their condition yet. Self-destructive behavior is their norm. Once you can truly understand their thought process, it means you're not far from falling into madness yourself.

However, Sumiki Karasu is quite normal. Having seen death many times, she is now able to face it without batting an eye.

Among these people, there might be her seniors, juniors, or friends. The day before, they might have been eating and chatting together at the school, but today, she can only see their cold, lifeless faces in the morgue, their expressions frozen in the same icy state as their surroundings.

She can only remain emotionally unaffected, steadily pulling up the body bag zipper, pushing them into the drawer, and saying, "Safe journey."

This is Sumiki Karasu's daily life.

She walks through the medical department with Genjiro Takanori, passing through this modernized hospital, which doesn't differ much from others except for the division between human and cursed spirit areas. She introduces various places, such as the operating rooms, important equipment, the morgue, and cursed spirit containment rooms. She doesn't need to elaborate on medical methods; she has already heard about them from Satoru and Jotaro.

Finally, she brings Genjiro Takanori to his designated workstation, explaining some points of attention.

The general idea is this: routine medical cases are handled by others. As the two reverse technique specialists, they are responsible for handling critical injuries. Usually, the work is alternated, so whoever has free time handles the case, and those who are busy wait for the next round. If the luck is bad, the patient might end up in the next stage of their life, assuming they have one left.

This is the reality of reverse technique treatment.

After Sumiki Karasu explains, she leaves. The task is heavy, and she has taken some spare time to introduce everything.

...

A few days pass quickly, and Genjiro Takanori has adapted to the rhythm here.

He just focuses on treating patients. Once he puts on the mask, he becomes like an emotionless machine. In his right hand, a scalpel; in his left hand, a soul blade; double the treatment, faster healing. Those who have experienced it all say it's effective.

The cursed spirits who die must also be satisfied, as they leave without any pain.

On the first day of Genjiro's treatment, Sumiki Karasu also came. It wasn't because she was worried, but because it was more efficient to learn and exchange knowledge.

Coincidentally, there weren't many patients, so it was a good opportunity to observe.

In the operating room, one patient was attended by three medical staff, two of whom received the super-advanced treatment of the reverse technique.

The patient, whose injuries were not severe but had unique reference value, trembled as he lay on the operating table. He struggled to lift his upper body, his face contorted in worry as he looked at Genjiro: "Doctor… is there no hope for me?"

Genjiro pressed him back down, the Scarlet Cloak enveloping him, rendering him immobile. This was not assimilation but a delicate manipulation of the technique's normal flow. The body instinctively resists the Scarlet Cloak, but Genjiro controls the force, maintaining balance, and the patient falls into a rigid state.

The patient's terrified face is well-preserved, with only his eyeballs trembling slightly. Genjiro adds a little curse energy, and now, even the eyes won't move. The patient stares wide-eyed, frozen in place, looking at Genjiro.

The balance here is just right.

Genjiro begins the incision. His glasses reflect half a beam of light under the operating room's overhead lights. He adjusts his stance, hiding the Starlight Eye under the shine, making it impossible to spot.

Normally, doctors don't wear glasses during surgery, but sorcerers have no such restrictions, especially sorcerers who master the reverse technique.

Through his vision, Genjiro sees both the patient's soul and body. The wound and injury are identical, indicating that the patient has been injured for some time.

The soul and body will synchronize over time, requiring a buffer period. By observing the difference in their states, Genjiro can determine the injury's timeline and gather other useful information.

Of course, this is only if no external force has interfered.

He grips the scalpel in both hands. The other three can only see the scalpel in his right hand, but Genjiro's actions are unmasked. Anyone with a sharp eye will notice the anomaly in his left hand, and combining that with his ability to see souls, they'll deduce he's simultaneously operating on the soul.

Genjiro slices through the flesh, piercing the surface of the soul. Azure curse energy surges upwards, directly counteracting the curse attached to the wound. The cursed pus is soon removed. The following treatment is simpler, and the healing effect of positive curse energy is evident as both the soul and body begin to recover under the blue energy's influence.

Genjiro finally withdraws the Scarlet Cloak, and the sorcerer gasps loudly. "That scared me. I almost thought I'd lost my dignity," he mutters, glancing at Genjiro, his gaze evasive. "Well… I guess it's not so bad."

"Take him out," Genjiro calls the nursing staff, who lead the weak sorcerer out of the operating room.

Sumiki Karasu observes the bloodstains on the operating table, noting that the bleeding was significant.

Throughout the treatment, the most noticeable aspects were the various colors and Genjiro's fluid movements. He resembled a graceful artist, the operating table his canvas, from mixing colors to painting a masterpiece, and finally, the bloodstained canvas, bold and unconventional. This was Sumiki Karasu's evaluation of the surgery.

Genjiro removes his mask and waves to Ten'uchi Riko, "Come, clean the operating table."

During this time, she's been responsible for such tasks. In the process of learning, new people often need to handle the smaller chores. Ten'uchi Riko reluctantly walks up to clean the table.

"Good work," Genjiro pats the girl's shoulder, feeling a slight tremor. He laughs. "After all this time, you're still afraid of blood? Looks like you need more practice."

Kuku kuku~

"You're just enjoying the bloodshed," Ten'uchi Riko snaps, brushing off his hand angrily.

The way one perceives a scene changes with their mood. To Sumiki Karasu, it's a bloodstained decoration, but to Ten'uchi Riko, it's a terrifying image.

Genjiro smiles nonchalantly and returns to the office first.

During this time, he has seen all kinds of injuries, from sorcerers who hurt themselves with developed techniques to those injured while training physical techniques or through training with teammates… Interestingly, the number of sorcerers injured by cursed spirits is the lowest, as most arrive already stiff, needing no treatment.

Genjiro can only marvel at the strange ways people die. They often don't die due to a gap in strength. The task system at the school is quite reasonable, with assignments not being too intense. As long as you stay alert, your life is generally secure.

But you can never predict what these people will do while exorcising spirits.

And you can always believe in the diversity of species.

Genjiro is truly satisfied with the medical department. In the process of treating patients, his understanding of techniques has become clearer, along with his knowledge of human anatomy, soul structure, curse energy properties, storage locations, and even the composition of some special cursed spirits...

Here, he has everything he needs.

Due to Genjiro's high efficiency, Sumiki Karasu has recently had nothing much to do. Pulling him into the organization truly was a great decision.

She lights a cigarette and exhales a cloud of smoke at the window.
