Capítulo 1: New Beginning
He was an average dude who lived a relatively normal life. Kahari didn't try too hard with his look, he wore a sweater jacket whenever he could feel comfortable with it and whatever shirt he could get his hands on. For his pants, he would wear cargo pants or sweatpants and for shoes, he had a choice between work shoes and converse. When it came to taking care of his hair, he would only do it when he had extra time and extra money. He didn't fuss too much, and he couldn't say he was living a bad life, but it wasn't as good as he wanted it to be. He wanted more to happen in his life. Not because he had to do it to continue to live his life, but because he wanted to enjoy it. He will later find out that he can get what he wants with the right amount of effort, but not how he thought it would work. This change will rock his whole world, but he knows that he will improve.
While he's working, he's at a loss. Kahari works a simple nine-to-five factory job, while he felt like the job was ok it didn't feel like it was something he wanted to do. He didn't know what to do about his life or what to do next. His life consists of waking up and contemplating whether to continue with his day while trying to convince himself to hurry up to get to work. When he drives to and from work he feels a bit tired but not enough to make it too dangerous, so he's glad he can pull it off. The work that is usually available to him is jobs that only require the bare minimum. He likes the slow pace that he can get at a decent price, but he rather work somewhere he likes while earning enough to invest in hobbies, but he simply doesn't have the resources for that. At the end of the day, he spends all night watching shows, reading, and playing games, it seems like it was a form of escapism from his mundane life.
It was another average day just going through the motions of life, hoping that a miracle would happen and things would get better. Kahari doesn't normally speak to his co-workers when going to work and barely texts his family and friends as he gets easily distracted by going with the flow. As life went, he felt as if it was on a downward spiral. He didn't feel like his life was getting better in any way. One day as he goes on with his life expecting nothing, just interacting with the world passively. He goes to pick up a coin as he would normally do, especially seeing how shiny this one was. It was a coin with an unnatural glow. Though he doesn't think about it, he tends to it, picks up things that he thinks are valuable or might be in the future. It looked like an arcade token he had never seen before, but he will never forget the look of that token that changed his life.
As he held the coin in his hand, he felt a warmth get absorbed by his body and the glow of the coin began to fade. He blinked to himself as he found this strange, but after inspecting himself nothing physical happened, so he just continued on with his day, not letting it bother him. Throughout the day, he felt as if he was getting warmer and more vital. He felt as if his day got better as soon as he picked up the token that life was going up for him even though nothing changed. The day went on as if nothing happened, but he felt better about it. And as he got ready for the day to end to go to sleep, he did a rarely used routine. He takes deep breaths staring into the darkness, trying to spread the warmth he felt throughout his entire body, hoping that he will feel just as good tomorrow as he did today. When he closes his eyes and his mind fades to slumber, although he doesn't feel it, the energy of the token is completely absorbed into him. After it gets completely absorbed, a window pops up not to the knowledge of the sleeping Kahari with the words 'system download complete'.
The sound of the third alarm rings near his head, feeling a bit groggy he reluctantly gets up. His eyes were still clenched shut, rubbing them as he reached for his phone to see the time. As he considers the time he realizes he only has twenty minutes left to head to work, he rushes to the sink to wash his face. In all this rushing, he barely notices the window as he takes his time to brush his teeth. "(New) status" are the words that show up on the window as he looks at this gray slightly transparent window he had a look of concern but also of curiosity. He tries to touch it to no avail since touching didn't work, he thought of the word status as he was brushing his teeth and wouldn't be able to speak. The window reacts and new information shows up, basically a character sheet for Kahari.
The sheet contained his name, age, condition, and a list of stats including Strength with a value of ten, Dexterity with a value of fourteen, Constitution with a value of twelve, Intelligence with a value of thirteen, Wisdom with a value of thirteen, Charisma with a value of ten, and one skill "quick learn". This window might show him this information, but he has no idea what to do with that. He imagined the window closed, so it did, and he went on with his day excited about what this mysterious window can bring him. And as he put on his lotion he heard a soft beep on the back of his head, he turned to see what it was but as he didn't see anything he ignored it. This soft beep happens three more times throughout the day. One was when he had to dodge a sudden corpse of a deer that you occasionally see on the road. The second was when he exerted himself to help lift some heavy material at work. Then the last of it was after a long day at work where he did more work than usual. These occurrences went unnoticed as he was listening to music to have noise while going through the day to focus himself. As the workday ended, he hurried home to learn more about the window that appeared to him. He thought again "status" and the window showed up again, but this time it was slightly different. The changes that occurred were that four stats went up by one point. They were Charisma, Dexterity, strength, and Constitution; as he tries to recall what could have happened for this change, he remembers the soft beep from this morning and things that he did that could be associated with the other stats. When he puts all that together he hears another soft beep and now instead of turning around he turns to the window and sees that the intelligence stat went up by one.
This was a new beginning for Kahari; he realized the mechanics of the system, deepening his understanding of what he needed to do to increase the values on each of the stats. With this new understanding, he gained a point in his wisdom stat and thus completed what seems like the tutorial because after that he didn't gain stat points as quickly. So with this, he has gained a new goal, a new purpose, something that would motivate him and that shows him that one step at a time he can make an improvement.
