Dorian lay in bed feeling weak. To Caleb, the memory restoration part seemed to fail. However, Dorian got all the memories of his counterpart. Not only that, he remembered something that was hidden deep within his subconsciousness.
[Dorian? Are you okay?]
Luna materialized on the side of the bed, and concern laced her voice. Her hair was still messy, and her eyes showed concern. Dorian could feel himself smile slightly at how Luna looked like she always had been and always would be. He couldn't believe they were together just for two days.
"Yeah, Luna. Just a little tired."
A relieved smile spread across Luna's face at hearing her partner was alright. Her hand reached out to stroke over the scars on Dorian's arms. "I thought I healed them. Give me your hands."
"No need."
Dorian chuckled lightly. He grabbed onto her wrist and pulled away from her reach.
"They're not going anywhere anytime soon," he teased.
"If you say so." Luna decided not to question and hugged Dorian tightly with one arm while she gently pet the hair at the nape of his neck. She felt his muscles relax into her hold and smiled softly. The room fell quiet once more. A peaceful silence blanketed the air around them.
"Dorian?" Luna asked hesitantly. "What were those childhood memories? They were so cloudy I could barely see."
"What do you think you saw? Fire?" A small nod answered him. "Well...when we were kids, I was bullied for being different."
"Different from what?" "From the other kids. I was the quiet kid who had no wish to interact with others."
"How come?" "Because...I wasn't interested. It's as simple as that." Dorian sighed and rested back against the headboard of his bed. His eyes stared up at the ceiling for a moment.
"Sometimes I wanted to run or hide, but when I tried those things, I just ended up looking stupid."
"But I clearly saw your memories, and you had many friends."
That question made Dorian laugh softly. He ran a hand through his hair. "I mean when I grew up. Yes. But as a child, I only had one friend."
"Lilith?"
"Yes, Lilith." Dorian nodded in agreement. He felt Luna's grip on him loosen a bit. "My first friend. The first person to really care about me...and I let her down..."
He closed his eyes and let his thoughts wander to the last time he had seen Lilith. He opened his eyes and sat upright once again, ignoring Luna's confused expression.
"Something bad happened, and I was too late to save her." a tear and vicious smile appeared on Dorian's face. "I killed that motherfucker! But... But..."
The anger in his tone sent shivers down Luna's spine. If there is anything, Dorian hated more than anything else, it was the person who hurt Lilith. Dorian and Lilith often played in the abandoned garage. But one day, he was late to meet her because he was left after school. When he arrived at the house, he discovered Lilith dead and half nude in the corner of the house. Her eyes were open, and her throat was slit by the homeless guy who was searching through her possessions. Dorian observed the guy wielding a bloodied knife. The person didn't notice Dorian walking from behind. Dorian's eyes were dead, and he had a smile that displayed his teeth. Tears were dripping down his cheeks. She was the most important thing to him. So Dorian resolved to kill the man. He picked up the brick from the ground and began smashing the murderer's head. Again and again.
The man couldn't even scream as he died after the first hit. After Dorian's hands were too numb to continue, he went to close Lilith's eyes. He kissed her cheek, and a few tears dropped on Lilith's face. Dorian picked gasoline and splashed it all over the place to get rid of the evidence.
"I am sorry, Lilith," he whispered.
Luna saw the memories and could barely contain her sadness. After several moments of silence between them, Luna spoke. "Do you want to talk about it?"
"There's nothing much to say," Dorian replied quietly. "Lilith was killed, and I killed her murderer. Case closed."
Luna hugged Dorian tighter. "It must've been horrible."
"It wasn't." Neither said anything else until Luna realized something.
"You know... Lilith could be alive in this world." Luna said slowly. "She's still alive somewhere. Maybe it wouldn't be impossible."
Dorian took a deep breath. "Maybe."
"So then, if we find her...you'll heal!"
A sad smile crept its way onto Dorian's face. The thought of finding Lilith made him happy. "Perhaps," he admitted softly. "If I had just skipped school, maybe she would have never met her death."
"You know what? Let's go and hunt some monsters." Luna grinned mischievously. "Come on, Dorian! Let's go pick up your sickle."
Before Dorian could react, Luna jumped out of bed, making Dorian fall back on his stomach. She quickly snatched the keys out of her skirt pocket. Dorian watched her dash out of the room before rolling out of bed and pulling his boots on. Dorian followed Luna downstairs, where she headed outside.
"Come on, Luna! Only Sara knew about your existence!" Dorian yelled excitedly behind her.
Dorian ran past Luna and out of the yard, heading straight to the barn where he left the sickle. He walked inside to see Damian talking with a tall blonde woman dressed in green leather armor with golden trimming. The woman turned to look at Dorian and gave him an easygoing smile.
"Good morning! Who are these two cuties?~" the woman greeted.
"We're just here to pick some stuff," Luna answered for him. Diana raised her eyebrow but remained silent. "His name is Dorian."
Diana's eyes sparkled. "Is there a chance that he's yours?" Luna rolled her eyes playfully before nodding. Dorian laughed softly and blushed slightly.
"Oh, that is cute. Dorian found himself a girlfriend. Hilarious!" Damian interrupted teasingly. "Poor girl has a terrible taste."
Luna shot Damian a glare. "You are so wrong."
