"So she gave up?" Calder asked gently. "My mom... She gave up..." Syria replied. "And your sister?" Calder asked as his heart started to beat a little faster. "My sister... My sister, sigh, my sister couldn't stomach how my mother changed. She started to hate her and me too." Syria replied. "Wait?! Why you?! You did what you had to do to keep them alive!" Calder shouted.

"Well... That's not how she sees it. Last time I got to see her was before I came to the palace and even then she wouldn't look at me. It was like her love and trust in me just vanished and now she was on the same path as my mother." Syria answered.

Calder's heart squeezed, again he wondered what he could say to her to comfort her but all he could think about was apologizing. He clenched his teeth and furrowed his brows. Syria stared up at him. There was a weird silence, the only sound between them was the sound of Calder's foot steps against the road.
