37.23% I Love My Angel, Forever Your Demon Queen / Chapter 35: Discoveries

Capítulo 35: Discoveries

When Adam turned around, he already knew it was Michael.

Michael was God's strongest warrior, so to send him to the cathedral first was understandable. Yet, he also knew that the elder angel was expecting the cathedral, not him. Swords clash and sparks flew, until they were pushed away from one another.

"Why did you not fly?" the warrior, the general, questioned him with his hawk eyes.

"Because I cut off my wings," the reply came rolling of his smiling lips.

The reaction of Michael was priceless: mouth hung, eyes bugged, and even his hands loosened dramatically on the sword. If anyone asked Adam if the loyal angel only had a stoic face, he would had said yes in a heartbeat. Seeing him now though… the wingless angel let out a short laugh. The sound of his laughter caught the elder's ears, snapping him out of his shock.

"That is impossible," the angel stated tightening his hold.

"Why would it be?" The young angel questioned with a lift of his brows, "Many things are possible, brother."

"Then how are you still alive?" Michael was getting suspicious. The cathedral is gone. Eve is gone. Only Adam remained.

'Why? The devil, that demon must have planned this. A distraction… but for what?'

'What did Eve do to save his soul?' The general questioned and swung his sword, sending a blast toward the youngster, 'What is she planning and why does Adam still have his angel gifted powers? What is your plan, Father?'

The questions floated through his head as the wingless angel fought back with dodges and strikes. He would never question his father, but that didn't mean he did not have questions. The experienced angel sidestepped the overhead slash and aimed a punch to the side of the young angel. The force he put in was no more than what a mortal would feel being thrown against the wall.

To an angel, it was a shove.

"A soul is connected to one's wings, Adam," Michael spoke as if lecturing the boy, "Cutting off your wings was foolish. You should be dead."

"Heh," the blonde sounded and went back to parry with the elder.

Adam was not as strong or as fast, but he was just as stubborn as his opponent. The young angel blocked blows, took them, yet still he did not back down. Stubborn as a mule.

"I will no longer hold back," he stated with his blade glowing.

The young angel stood there with a fierce stare and attacked.

Gabriel stood in front of the fire, the only place of warmth, and stared at it. His eyes were glazed and his shoulders were dropped, as if he could no longer fight. Slumping to his knees, he let out a deep sigh staring at his left palm. The glow faded in and out, like a flickering light trying to stay on.

Eve.

That child must be doing something. What it was, he does not know; he wondered if his father did. Speaking of which, have they noticed he was gone? Are they sending someone to recapture him? Why did the demon save him?

'My father will return; he will need you to save him.'

Those were her words to him. What did she mean by that? Was her father not dead? Was he… alive?

Fisting his hands, he glanced around him and couldn't fight the smile that curved on his lips. The day Lucifer fell, he cried harder than when his gifted rabbit passed. He cried harder than when his brothers returning battered and bruised. He cried so much like the waterfall at their favorite place in the human realm.

Gabriel tried to not show it, but everyone knew how close they were, how much it pained him to see his brother fall.

He decided to go down to see, just to see if Lucifer was there, if he was okay, to appease his broken heart. Searching the entire place meticulously for days, he stood above a cliff giving up. Yet, there was something calling out to him. A buzzing against the back of his ears sounded and he paused.

'What was that?' Before he could find an answer, he could hear a faint noise.

Eyes widened, he headed forward and turned when the voice began to fade. When it got stronger, he knew he was headed in the right direction! Letting out a smile as he flew above the people and trees, his tears were welling up in his eyes because he was so happy.

'I'm coming brother! I am coming!' he grinned with excitement.

'You're alive!'

The angel arrived at a large pool of water, a foggy and dark pond. Looking around to see if he could spot his brother, there was no one there. Looking into the pond, you couldn't see his reflection due to how hazy it looked.

"Lucifer! Brother!" He called out using his hands to dig around the bushes and grass.

Feeling his heart racing hearing the call for him fade, he wondered if it was possible his brother was in the water. Not caring about his outfit, he quickly stepped in. Using his legs to be his eyes, he swiped it as he walked. If he were to hit something, his smile would be plastered on his face. However, every time he picked whatever it was up, the smile would fall instantly.

They were not his brother.

The sun was setting and he was working faster, harder. The buzzing was gone and Lucifer's voice was gone. Getting down on his hands and knees, the water reached his collarbones. Body soaked, he continued to reach blindly hoping and praying it was his brother.

The sky bursted with colors of pink and orange as the sun set behind the hills. Frantic, Gabriel felt his eyes were watering and his heart was beating quickly. What if he was too late and… and his brother was dead?! Breath coming in harshly, he bit his bottom lip crawling through the pond.

Just when he was about to give up, Gabriel fell. Head dunked into the hazy water, he pushed and kicked himself up. When he reached the surface of water, he gasped in a deep breath. Wiping a hand over his face, he looked around himself to see he was in a cavern. Brows furrowed into a U, he continued to look around and found a silhouette of someone. His eyes widened like a saucer.

He did not need to ask who it was. He did not need to open his mouth. He could recognize that body shape in the dark.

That was his brother, Lucifer Morningstar.
