Capítulo 2: 2

The walls of the dungeon loomed around me, dark and damp, dripping with a mossy wetness that smelled of decay and earth. Every sound echoed, every drop of water hitting the stone reverberated in my sensitive ears. In this tiny form, everything felt bigger, more daunting—and my heart pounded. Grey Matter might not be a powerhouse, but I knew his strength lay in intelligence and agility.

"Alright, let's figure this out," I muttered, glancing down the endless tunnels stretching before me. My first real fight in this new world, and I was entering it in a form that couldn't take much of a hit. Great.

A faint shuffling noise caught my attention, drawing my eyes to the end of the hallway. A pair of yellow eyes reflected the dim light, slowly moving towards me. I shrank back, pressing myself against the wall, calculating my options.

The creature emerged into view, a ratlike beast roughly the size of a dog, its body covered in coarse, spiked fur and a long tail that whipped back and forth. It sniffed the air, sensing my presence.

"Alright, Jake," I whispered, "remember what Grey Matter's good at—thinking."

The beast lunged forward, claws scraping against the stone as it charged, teeth bared. But I'd already analyzed my surroundings. I ducked low, darting between its legs as it skidded past me, crashing into the wall with a snarl. I scrambled up the nearby rock face, small limbs grabbing every crack, until I reached a higher ledge. The rat beast looked up, baring its teeth, but I was safely out of reach.

"Phew," I exhaled. But I knew I couldn't stay on the defense. Not forever.

The Omnitrix on my wrist flickered. I couldn't time out now, not when I was mid-dungeon and unarmed in my human form. It looked like I'd have to make the most of Grey Matter's strengths while I had them.

I glanced around, spotting a jagged stone lying near the rat beast's feet. An idea began to take shape. This form might be weak physically, but I could definitely use my size to my advantage. I leapt down, landing just behind the creature, and dashed towards the rock. The beast whipped around, realizing too late as I grabbed the stone and darted back up to the ledge. With a grin, I held it above me and dropped it straight onto its head.

The beast let out a painful screech, stumbling as the stone made contact. Its legs wobbled as it tried to recover, but I didn't give it the chance. Scrambling back down, I scooped up the stone again, this time throwing it directly at the creature's face. With one last yelp, it collapsed, falling silent.

I took a step back, panting despite Grey Matter's tiny lungs. "Alright…first dungeon beast down."

The Omnitrix suddenly began to beep, a red light flashing as I felt the transformation's time limit hit. In a burst of green, I returned to my human form, crouching low as I adjusted to being my regular size again. I checked my surroundings, half-expecting another monster to appear. But it seemed quiet—for now.

I pressed onward, each step filled with caution. The dim glow of the moss-lined walls lit my way as I went deeper, occasionally hearing the faint scratching and skittering of other dungeon creatures in the distance. My nerves buzzed with every step, aware that without magic, I'd have to use every bit of strategy I could muster to make it through this place alive.

After a few more twists and turns, I entered a small cavern. Glowing crystals lined the walls, casting an eerie light that illuminated the entire space. In the center of the room was a chest—small, wooden, and looking very much out of place in this rocky labyrinth.

"Is it a trap?" I wondered aloud. But curiosity got the better of me, and I approached it, cautiously lifting the lid.

Inside was a single vial of red liquid—a health potion, maybe? That'd definitely be helpful. But there was also something else: a tattered map, scrawled in messy handwriting, showing the rough layout of the dungeon. A grin spread across my face.

"Well, maybe this place isn't so bad after all."

With the potion safely stowed in my pocket and the map in hand, I made my way toward the exit on the other side of the room. The tunnels gradually narrowed, and the air grew colder, sharper. The Omnitrix's green glow provided a faint light as I followed the map's path to what it labeled as the "Lower Depths."

Down here, the sounds of creatures were more frequent, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. I'd faced one rat beast, but something told me that was just the beginning.

As I turned a corner, a pair of glowing red eyes locked onto me from the shadows. A larger creature, four-legged with glistening fangs and thick scales, prowled forward, hissing as it revealed its row of razor-sharp teeth.

The Omnitrix beeped, green again. Perfect timing.

I pressed it, hoping that this transformation would hold out longer. In a flash, I became Grey Matter again, and as the creature lunged, I sprang to the side, narrowly dodging its snapping jaws. My mind raced, formulating plans and escape routes with each move.

I darted up a craggy wall and leapt onto the creature's back, using its scales to climb up to its head. The beast thrashed, trying to throw me off, but I hung on, drawing on every ounce of Grey Matter's endurance. Spotting a weak point near the base of its skull, I drove my foot into it, causing the creature to screech and stumble.

With a final jolt, it crashed to the ground, twitching once before falling still.

Breathing heavily, I jumped off, listening for any other threats in the darkness. Silence. My heart was pounding, but I couldn't deny the thrill that buzzed through me. I'd done it. I'd taken down my second dungeon beast, and I was getting the hang of this form's abilities.

The Omnitrix beeped once more, returning me to human form, and I sank to the floor, my legs shaking. But I knew one thing for sure: even if it was dangerous, even if I had no magic, I was more alive in this strange world than I'd ever been back home.

Grinning to myself, I glanced down at the Omnitrix. "Guess you and I are gonna make a pretty good team."

I pushed myself to my feet, ready to keep exploring. Because this was only the beginning.
