In the Xuandan Sect, when disciples from the Outer Peaks, who have reached the seventh level of Qi Cultivation stage, enter the Inner Peak, they have two choices.

The first is to choose a Foundation Establishment Stage Cultivator as a master, becoming a true disciple, thus creating a stronger bond between master and disciple.

The second option is to be affiliated with a Foundation Establishment Stage Cultivator, where the relationship between them is basically close to none.

Even so, many times, these Foundation Establishment Elders do not know how many disciples are affiliated under their guidance.

In another perspective, these disciples, who are affiliated with certain Elders, can be considered as free disciples. When they advance to the Foundation Establishment stage, the affiliation is automatically dissolved.
