Boom! The sound barrier shattered as the two titans hurtled toward each other. Kara pushed forward, her fierce determination unwavering as she charged at Wally without hesitation.
"Damn, she's fast," Wally thought, his mind whirring as he analyzed her next move. As they closed the distance, Kara threw a powerful punch, but Wally deftly sidestepped, creating distance between them.
"She's almost as fast as Barry," he recalled, remembering how she had kept up with Barry when he used the tachyon enhancer, boosting her speed close to Mach 7.6.
The only way Wally could match her now was by overcharging his cells with more Speed Force energy than they could handle. He knew the cost—his stamina would plummet, so he'd need to end this quickly.
Facing Supergirl once again, Wally surged forward, supercharging his cells and narrowing the speed gap between them. Kara swung wildly at him, relying more on strength than technique, making it easier for Wally to dodge. As she stumbled slightly, Wally seized the opportunity.
Baam! His fist, crackling with condensed electricity, collided with her torso. Against a Kryptonian, it barely registered, but Wally noticed a slight wince on Kara's face—a hint that she felt the jolt of electrical energy. That was exactly what Wally had been aiming for.
A few days ago, he had compiled a list of metahumans and supernatural beings, intending to devise ways to defeat each of them. Kryptonians topped that list, but initially, he found no conventional way to take them down. Then, he recalled how Reverse-Flash had once claimed to have fought Superman in the future.
That memory sent him racing to the Time Vault, where he asked Gideon to retrieve the methods Reverse-Flash had used, along with any other countermeasures for Kryptonians.
One of those plans was now in motion. Kara shrugged off the attack and charged at him again, her slight speed advantage catching him off guard. But Wally overloaded his brain with Speed Force energy, heightening his perception and allowing him to anticipate her strike. He phased through her attack, letting it pass harmlessly through him.
Kara, expecting to catch him off guard, was now the one surprised, her stance leaving her wide open. Wally capitalized on the moment, landing two punches, each packed with billions of joules of electrical energy. His goal was to disrupt the bioelectrical field that Kryptonians generate, hoping to weaken her ability to fly, even if only briefly, and stagger her movements, reducing her reaction speed.
Kara felt the effects almost immediately, becoming vaguely aware of what Wally was trying to do. Her eyes glowed with a tinge of blue before she unleashed a blast of heat vision.
Panicked, Wally retreated, narrowly dodging the scorching beams of solar energy. Kara attempted to take to the air, seeking an aerial advantage, but to her surprise, she barely lifted a few meters off the ground.
"Shouldn't we stop them?" HR asked, glancing at the others, who were watching the battle with a mix of interest and concern.
"No," Sara responded steadily, "Let them blow off some steam." The others nodded in agreement.
Kara, keeping her distance with a barrage of heat vision, was trying to buy time for recovery. But Wally wasn't about to let that happen.
With a swift move, he duplicated his form, creating two Speed Force clones. Though slightly slower, they were still fast enough to dodge the laser beams, closing in on Kara as the battle raged on.
Barry and Oliver exited the S.T.A.R. Labs truck, immediately hearing the sounds of battle. They hurried to the scene, catching sight of Wally and Kara fighting.
"Guys, why aren't you stopping this?" Barry asked, his face furrowed with anger as he prepared to intervene. But Oliver placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Barry, don't interrupt. Let's see what they're capable of," Oliver advised, echoing the others' viewpoints.
The two clones kept Kara busy while Wally accumulated more electrical energy into his hands. He ran in a circle, finding it easier to accumulate energy by manipulating the natural charge generated when he ran, rather than just siphoning it from his cells.
Ready for a final attack, he felt fatigue creeping in as his lungs gulped massive amounts of oxygen. Running a final lap, he dashed toward Kara, who noticed him coming. She immediately recognized the massive energy he had accumulated.
She decided to ignore the clones, focusing on the incoming Wally. But to her dismay, the clones, which she thought were harmless, suddenly dispersed under Wally's command, releasing pure, unadulterated Speed Force energy that crashed into her. Kara was immediately forced to her knees, her body struggling against the inflow of energy, leaving her stunned and unable to react to the main Wally.
As he closed in, fatigued and tired, his speed dropped to Mach 2. Massive amounts of electrical energy converged in his right palm, condensing and forming a shape.
With effort, he controlled the energy, gradually shaping it into a bolt resembling the thunderbolt of Zeus. With a final push, he hurled it toward his incapacitated opponent, who could only watch as the attack neared.
Barry sighting the escalation of the situation immediately ran at maximum speed, intervening at the right moment as he carried Kara out of the way.
Narrowly avoiding the attack. The lightning bolt connected with the ground a massive explosion of electricity following afterwards, sending arcs and blasts in all direction. Luckily the others were far away from the explosion.
Wally exhausted from the exertion, fell to his knees in fatigue, removing his mask as he took in massive amounts of oxygen. Barry about to start berating Wally for his carelessness was immediately interrupted by Oliver who saw Wally as a right lethal addition to the team since Wally was willing to push himself beyond expected limits to win against a stronger opponent.
"Barry, don't worry, I'll walk it off," Kara shrugged, the effect of the discharge of energy already fading as she stood to her feet.
"Wally, are you okay?" Iris asked with worry, extending an arm toward him and quickly pulling him to his feet.
"Yeah, I'm just tired, and hungry as fuck," he replied. Iris hearing his response hit him on the chest before guiding him toward the truck.
"Well, you're in luck. I made some snacks from Grandma Esther's recipe book," she quipped, and the two walked toward the S.T.A.R. Labs truck with smiles plastered on their faces.
With a final glance around to make sure no one was looking, Wally swiftly made a clone. The clone quickly searched through the vehicle Barry and Oliver had been called to, where they discussed the message the future Barry had left.
Finding the recorder, the clone quickly took it to the original Wally, handing it to him before erasing itself and merging back with Wally, who sighed as his exhaustion thickened.
Crashing into the seat, he watched as Iris served his portion. Shrugging off the impulse to directly consume everything, he retreated to the safety of his phone, a notification attracting his attention.
What met him was a peculiar name, Sasha. Speeding through the original Wally's memory, his entire worldview shattered as realization dawned on him that the original Wally wasn't as innocent as he had been depicted.
Though initially shocked by the realization, Wally knew Sasha had been a friend of his with extra benefits, someone he had begun ignoring since Jesse's appearance in the equation.
Reading the message that read, "Come on, Wally, why are you ignoring me?" he couldn't help but chuckle internally, his fatigued muscle forcing him to sink deeper into the seat.
Not feeling particularly in the mood to chat, he was about to resign his phone to focus on eating when he suddenly thought, "I guess I'll need to release some stress after this alien war is over."
"I guess it won't hurt dropping by her apartment a few days from now," he muttered internally, a smile plastered on his face.
"What's got you so happy?" Iris asked with palpable perplexity, handing him a plate of pasta along with some other visible ingredients he couldn't recognize for some reason.
"Ah, it's nothing," he shrugged off with feigned nonchalance, closing the chat screen and turning off the phone before accepting the plate of pasta.
"Whatever," Iris commented, having a slight hunch the matter was related to a girl. "I'll go check on Kara."
She stepped out of the vehicle, leaving Wally alone as he took his fork and dug into the large plate of food. That was when he remembered one thing as he took in a mouthful.
"Shit, Iris can't cook."
