Capítulo 149: Chapter 149: Fear? Gold

Boom—Boom—!

The "fireballs," which were essentially in free fall, crashed directly into Moydo's vanguard forces.

Splash!!

The impact of the "fireballs" crushed hundreds of believers and orcs. The violent landing kicked up a cloud of choking dust.

"What is that thing?"

"No idea. Could it be more human or elven magic?"

The "fireball" that had crashed deep into the vanguard lay still, drawing the attention of many believers and orcs. They gathered around, discussing in their thick nasal tones.

Thud!

Suddenly, a heavy metallic sound echoed from the smoke, as if something had violently opened and hit the ground.

Thud! Thud!

Next, the gathered believers and orcs heard heavy footsteps and saw five pairs of glowing, golden eyes.

Bang! Bang!

Before they could guess what those eyes were, a series of explosive gunshots echoed through the air. Their bodies burst open from within, like water balloons, splattering flesh and blood in all directions.

As the dust cleared, the believers and orcs finally saw the source of the "fireball" and the owners of those eyes.

The "fireball" was not a meteor, as they had imagined, but a large metal pod with its door wide open. The owners of the glowing eyes were five towering figures, each nearly three meters tall, wearing armor the likes of which they had never seen before—"giants."

But the believers and orcs had no time to study them closely, as the giants' strange firearms tore their bodies apart and shattered their formations. The archers and gunners among the believers retaliated immediately, but the giants dodged their attacks with inhuman speed.

Even when enchanted arrows or lead bullets hit their targets, the most they did was scratch or dent the giants' black armor. The weaker points at the elbows and neck seemed to be protected by some sort of "magnetic deflection," diverting lethal attacks.

Realizing their weapons were ineffective, the surrounding believers and orcs quickly concluded that only large-scale magic, siege weapons, or massive creatures could deal with the giants.

"What are these things?!"

"My Lord... My Lord Moydo…"

"Run! Run! Our Lord will not blame us!!"

In an instant, the morale of the nearby believers and orcs collapsed, and they began fleeing.

Some more fearless captains tried to use the rocks as cover to sneak up on the giants for an ambush. However, as one captain charged out from behind a rock, swinging his sword with all his might, a sharp cracking sound rang out as his head was casually swatted off by the giant's hand. His headless body collapsed, twitching a few times before going still.

The giant had been aware of the captain's intentions all along and, without even turning to look, swatted him with the back of his left hand. Throughout the entire sequence, the giant continued operating his firearm with his right hand, swiftly and precisely shooting down fleeing believers and orcs.

These giants were none other than the Thunder Warriors, a product of Atlas' advanced cloning, genetic seeds, and biotechnology.

The metal pod was a new model of orbital drop pod, developed by Atlas, featuring stronger protective armor and faster deployment.

From a bird's-eye view, it would be clear that forty Thunder Warriors had landed on the battlefield via eight drop pods and were methodically clearing their landing zone.

Although the believers and orcs were enhanced by blessings, their armor enchanted with defensive magic, it made little difference against the .75 and 1.0-caliber explosive rifles and machine guns, or the accompanying hydrogen-metal standard explosive rounds, high-explosive rounds, and armor-piercing rounds.

All met the same fate—death by physical explosion, leaving behind either a stinking pile of flesh or dismembered body parts scattered across the ground.

The Thunder Warriors, controlled by psychic energy, also adhered to a strict tactical structure.

Each team of five warriors comprised a standard tactical unit:

- Three explosive riflemen, armed with various tactical attachments, such as under-barrel grenade launchers and an assortment of explosive rounds.

- One plasma grenadier, wielding a massive plasma cannon resembling an enlarged BFG, along with a sidearm and several hydrogen-metal grenades, tasked with eliminating armored threats.

- One heavy machine gunner, equipped with a 1.0-caliber explosive machine gun and a large ammo box attached to their powered armor, serving as the main firepower of the unit.

The powered armor worn by the forty Thunder Warriors was bulky and rugged, a departure from Atlas' previous sleek designs. The helmets had twin-eye visors, glowing faintly with golden light due to the psychic energy, instilling further fear in the believers and orcs.

Underneath the titanium-tantalum composite armor was a multifunctional nanofiber suit, designed to provide life support and protect the wearer, even in space or extreme environments, for up to fifteen days. The suit was powered by a backpack containing condensed energy to fuel the suit's life-support, weapons systems, and defense mechanisms.

This armor, called the "Titanium-Tantalum Mark I" power armor, was an experimental model named after Atlas itself. With a production cost in the tens of millions per unit, it wasn't something Atlas could mass-produce just yet.

Hovering above them all, controlling the forty Thunder Warriors with his psychic powers, was none other than Samuel Young, the owner of Atlas.

At this moment, Samuel, wearing his custom black armor with red and gold accents, stood at a height of 2.5 meters due to his armor's enhancements. In his left hand, he held the Empire's Spear, burning with golden flames, while his right hand gripped an enlarged psychic 1911 pistol. His expression was cold and emotionless as he stared at the Blood Demon in front of him.

"Who... who are you…?!"

The Blood Demon, having sacrificed its own body and soul to Moydo, stammered in fear.

It was afraid?!

It had just gained unmatched power, yet it feared a mere human, barely 2.5 meters tall? Impossible!

The Blood Demon was about to question further and crush this human underfoot, but in the next second, its vision was filled with blinding golden light, and its consciousness began to fade...

It... was dead?
