Capítulo 34: A New Beginning in a New World
Alex hovered in front of the wide-eyed little girl, Amber. His tone softened as he asked, "Amber, do you watch movies?"
"Yes! I watch a lot!" Amber's face lit up with excitement, her arms flailing animatedly.
Alex smiled, charmed by her energy. "What movie do you like the most, Amber?"
Amber tilted her head, deep in thought, before her face brightened. "I like Moana! And... and I also like Frozen! Elsa's my favorite!"
Alex was momentarily speechless. "Clever child... Haha, of course, you do," he muttered, scratching his head in exaggerated chibi form, making Amber burst into giggles.
He turned his attention to Mr. Grayson, whose face remained composed. "Mr. Grayson, if I were to bring you and your granddaughter to another world, what world would you like to live in?"
The old man lowered his head, his voice humble. "As long as the Lord wills it, I have no objection. Wherever you send us, we will trust in Him."
Chibi Alex scratched his head again, sighing. "Alright, no pressure…" He glanced back at Amber, who giggled even more at his antics. Then his face turned thoughtful. "Do you use the internet, Mr. Grayson? Oh, wait, obviously. Amber watches movies."
After a moment of contemplation, Alex's features shifted into a serious expression. "Hold her tight, Mr. Grayson." The old man obeyed, holding his granddaughter close as Alex extended his hand.
With a flash of golden light, they vanished from the sacred site in the Sahara Desert.
The disappearance sent shockwaves across the world. Surveillance drones captured the golden light, triggering frantic communications among global governments and agencies.
In a dark conference room filled with large screens, a high-ranking U.S. official slammed his hand on the table. "What do you mean he's gone? How can someone just vanish from one of the most secure zones in the world?"
"The light, it wasn't natural," a scientist stammered, rewinding footage. "It's… maybe teleportation?"
"Keep this contained," barked another official. "No media leaks. Mobilize all units. I want every satellite scanning for anomalies across the globe."
Meanwhile, in a private call, a Russian diplomat gritted his teeth. " If this power is weaponized, it could alter the balance of the world."
Mr. Grayson and Amber blinked, disoriented as they found themselves in the heart of a bustling city. The cacophony of honking cars, murmuring crowds, and distant street musicians enveloped them. No one seemed to notice their sudden appearance, each pedestrian too absorbed in their own lives.
"Grandpa, where are we?" Amber asked, her tiny hand gripping her grandfather's sleeve.
Mr. Grayson looked around in awe before turning to Alex. "This is New York City… am I right, Lord?"
"Yes," Alex confirmed with a nod, "but not the New York you know. It's the year 2023."
Amber gasped. "Wow! Grandpa, look! Look at all the big screens!" She pointed at towering digital billboards advertising everything from Broadway musicals to high-tech gadgets.
Alex chuckled as Lily's voice sounded in his mind. [What universe is this, Alex?]
He replied casually, "It's the world from Love Again. A romance movie about a woman, Mira, dealing with the loss of her fiancé. She sends heartfelt texts to his old phone number, not realizing it's now owned by a journalist named Rob. He gets captivated by her messages, and with the help of Celine Dion, he tries to meet her. Pretty sweet story."
Lily's laughter echoed in his mind. [A romance movie? Not what I expected from you.]
"Hey, I can be sentimental," Alex replied with a smirk.
Alex waved his hand discreetly, controlling a nearby government building. Inside the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), invisible forces created records for Mr. Grayson and Amber, complete with legal documentation.
Once finished, Alex conjured a sturdy bag and handed it to Mr. Grayson. "Here. Inside, you'll find your ID's and certificates, as well as gems and gold bars, each certified and authenticated. You can sell them to start a new life."
Mr. Grayson's hands trembled as he accepted the bag. "Thank you… Lord. I don't know how we can repay you."
"No need for that," Alex said with a warm smile. "Just take care of Amber and live your lives well."
Amber tugged on Alex's sleeve. "Will you visit us, mister? You're funny!"
Chibi Alex hovered in front of her, ruffling her hair. "Of course, I will. You behave for your grandpa, alright?"
With a final flash of golden light, Chibi Alex disappeared, leaving the Graysons standing amidst the bustling crowd.
Amber looked up at her grandfather. "Grandpa, are you okay?"
Mr. Grayson smiled gently, rubbing Amber's head. "Yes, Amber. We'll be just fine."
