Capítulo 50: Chapter 50 Resentment

Han Wenxue was confined in an unfamiliar room. Apart from Feng Kun, there were two other strangers in the room: a tall young man and a thin, elderly figure.

Her hands and feet were tightly bound, and she sat on a chair. Under normal circumstances, she should have been overwhelmed with fear, but instead, she appeared unusually calm, even exuding a faint sense of happiness—though this happiness seemed to have arrived far too late.

"Miss Han, your friend has been calling you incessantly. Don't you want to say something to him?"

The tall young man, Ai Chu, waved her phone in front of her, smirking. "This is already his thirteenth call. Don't you want him to save you? As long as you do as I say, I guarantee you'll see him immediately!"

Ai Chu's voice was like that of a devil—hoarse, rugged, and laced with a fatal allure.

The young women he had kidnapped before had all succumbed to panic and uncontrollable screams at this stage. Yet Han Wenxue, ever since she awoke to the sound of her phone ringing, had maintained a radiant, enchanting smile of happiness that had never faltered.

If not for the grand plan at stake, Ai Chu might have been reluctant to kill her.

"He has already done so much for me. How could I bear to let him risk his life for me again?"

Han Wenxue's voice was ethereal and melodious, like a whisper from a dream.

"What a devoted woman... what a pity she's fallen for a heartless man," Ai Chu sighed. He couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy toward this Chen Yi, who was fortunate enough to have won the love of such a loyal and beautiful woman.

Any man, upon encountering a woman as stunning and devoted as Han Wenxue, would inevitably feel a surge of possessiveness. And to see her, even in the face of death, still thinking of her beloved—it would stir jealousy in the heart of even the most magnanimous and noble man.

Such feelings were not a reflection of character but of human nature.

Ai Chu decided that he would not allow Han Wenxue to remain happy—or rather, he would not allow Chen Yi to remain happy.

"You think only of him, but do you truly know him? Are you aware that he has another woman in his life—a police officer?"

Ai Chu believed this revelation would shatter the beauty in Han Wenxue's heart and bring him a sense of triumph. If he couldn't have her, then no one else would. That had always been his way.

Han Wenxue's expression faltered for a brief moment. But it lasted less than a second before her face once again lit up with that radiant, blissful glow.

"You're not angry? Not heartbroken?"

Ai Chu was incredulous. Love, by its very nature, was selfish. No one could escape its possessive grip. How could this woman remain unbothered by the fact that she wasn't the only one in her man's heart?

Han Wenxue shook her head gently and said, "Compared to what he has done for me, what does this matter? He has sacrificed so much for me in secret. Can I not love him silently in return? Without letting him know, without burdening him? As long as I know he still thinks of me in this moment, that is enough."

Ai Chu could tell that her words were spoken with complete sincerity, devoid of any pretense or force. This left him feeling deeply unsettled, a sense of defeat washing over him. It was as if he had struck with all his might, only for his fist to sink into soft cotton—leaving no impact, only frustration.

"You wretched woman! Even at death's door, you're still lost in your delusions!"

Feng Kun, unable to contain his anger, stormed over and slapped her hard across the face.

Five distinct finger marks appeared on Han Wenxue's exquisite features.

A trace of blood lingered at the corner of her mouth as she stared at him coldly and spoke slowly, "You asked me how you compare to Chen Yi. Let me tell you now—you are nothing compared to him. In my eyes, he is perfect, while you... you're nothing but a polished turd. Shiny on the outside, but filthy and foul within."

"You—!"

Feng Kun's handsome face turned beet red, his expression twisted with rage and madness.

To him, Chen Yi was nothing more than a charlatan who eked out a living with his glib tongue—a man utterly worthless.

Yet this so-called worthless fraud had repeatedly humiliated him, stolen his spotlight, and even taken away the woman he had once desired most.

And now, Han Wenxue, in front of him, exalted Chen Yi as flawless while reducing him to a piece of dung. How could he possibly endure this?

Han Wenxue slowly closed her eyes, a faint smile playing on her lips, as if mocking Feng Kun to his very core.

Seeing this, Feng Kun's blood surged to his head, and he lost all semblance of reason.

"You wretched woman! I'll kill you right now!"

He clenched his fist and swung it toward Han Wenxue, determined to shatter her beautiful yet scornful face into oblivion.

Smack!

A dull sound of flesh meeting flesh echoed through the room.

The force of his punch sent a gust of wind past Han Wenxue's cheek, ruffling her hair. It stopped just shy of its target, unable to advance even an inch further.

"Mr. Feng, treating Miss Han this way is rather ungentlemanly, don't you think?"

Ai Chu had firmly grabbed Feng Kun's arm. No matter how much strength Feng Kun exerted, he couldn't break free.

Feng Kun's face turned a deep shade of red, and after several futile attempts, he angrily shook off Ai Chu's grip, stormed to the side, and turned his back, refusing to speak.

The thin, elderly man who had remained silent all this time glanced at Feng Kun's back, a flicker of murderous intent flashing through his eyes.

"What an amusing metaphor," Ai Chu remarked.

"Thank you," Han Wenxue replied.

If not for the tense atmosphere, their exchange might have sounded like a refined gentleman complimenting a graceful lady.

"It seems negotiation is futile. While you refuse to act, others are more than willing."

Ai Chu clapped his hands, and a plump, bound man was dragged into the room.

If Chen Yi were present, he would immediately recognize this man as Wu Pangzi, the jewelry store owner who had once sought his Feng Shui services.

Wu Pangzi's mouth was taped shut, his round face filled with terror as he whimpered and pleaded.

With a wave of Ai Chu's hand, someone tore the tape from Wu Pangzi's mouth.

"Mercy, good sir, mercy! I'll give you anything you want—money, whatever you need! Just don't kill me!" Wu Pangzi blurted out in a frantic stream of pleas.

Ai Chu cast him a look of disdain and kicked him to the ground. "I didn't bring you here for money. I need you to do something for me."

Despite the pain, Wu Pangzi, fearing for his life, quickly nodded. "Anything! Just don't kill me. I'll do whatever you ask, even ten things if need be!"

"Good," Ai Chu said, satisfied. He dusted off the footprints on Wu Pangzi's clothes. "All you need to do is lure Chen Yi here. If you succeed, I'll let you go."

"Chen Yi? That scoundrel! He conned me out of a million yuan with his Feng Shui nonsense and now got me into this mess!" Wu Pangzi's face twisted with anger, as if he wished he could tear Chen Yi apart.

"Can you do it? Remember, he must come alone, and you mustn't arouse his suspicion."

"I can! I definitely can!"

Wu Pangzi nodded so vigorously it seemed his head might fall off.

A phone was handed to him, and he quickly dialed Chen Yi's number. Before making the call, he hesitated and asked nervously, "If I really get him here, you'll keep your word, right?"

"Of course. If I don't keep my word, how could I maintain my reputation in the underworld?"

Ai Chu's smile was reassuring, yet behind it lurked the cold, venomous intent of a serpent.

By the time this was over, neither Han Wenxue nor Chen Yi would leave alive. How could he possibly allow any witnesses to remain?
