Walking away from Oscar was the best option. I had overheard him warning someone to reject me when I called. I knew he was talking about Joey. I had to find another way to survive. Thank God I had kept my old apartment. I returned there that morning and got a locksmith to open the door for me because I had lost the key in the apartment Oscar had given me.

Everything was still how I had left it. I sat on the ground and looked around me. I remembered I had kept some money under the floor planks. I checked and found the wad of cash there. Instead of sulking, I decided I would go out job hunting again. What I had hidden away could only last me three months in that place. I needed money to survive and take fighting classes.

I needed to train myself to fight so I can survive. I intended to call Joey for a job but I decided to wait a while before I do so just so I don't piss Oscar off. I bet he had already offered the blonde a mistress position. I wished them both the best.
