The pair drove into the night and ended up staying at a run-down motel, one that was on the outskirts of a small town. When they asked for a room, the receptionist looked from his women's magazine and narrowed his eyes suspiciously. With his boots still on the counter, the receptionist placed a pistol beside them, pointing it in their direction, his eyes hardening.

"You're not one of those supernat'ral creatures?"

Harry gave him an offended look. "We're trynna hunt 'em down," the rogue said. "Don't worry, old man. We won't bring you trouble, just a room for the night, then we'll be on our way."

Aldric remained impassive and quiet as he watched the man slowly retract his gun, placing it under the counter. "Rates gone up." He pointed his chin at the prices on the board next to them. "These are dang'rous times. Two 'undred each."
