Capítulo 3: Rapper

"Yoo K. Are you ready or not?  We need to get to the studio", my manager tells me.

I still look outside of the windows, giving him my back. "You know where I come from, you get your ass beat for entering a man's house without knocking", I tell him.

"Well this is Hollywood K, not your hometown. So understand that we do things differently around here. Now get your ass ready, the car is waiting outside", he tells me.

I get ready, and we make our way to the studio. We get there and I whisper in my heart, "here we go".

My manager introduces me to some big time rapper waiting for us in the studio. I tend not to remember these artists  names, and quite frankly I choose not to. My manager and the artist continue on discussing while my responses in between their conversation is yeah, sure and okay.

Afterwards my manager claps his hands and exclaims, "let's get down to business". He looks my way, hoping that I pull through from my side. I know what he wants.

So I grab exactly what he wants from my satchel and hand it to the Rapper.

"The lyrics you requested for straight from the hot plate of Mr K", my manager states towards the Rapper.

The Rapper grabs the sheets of paper on the other side, but he fails to pull them out of my hand.  I hold onto those lyrics like it's the very last piece of my belongings.

My manager yells out, "Yoo K" Soon afterwards I let go of the sheets, but without giving the Rapper a serious stare down.

My manager gives laughs out loud to try and clear the tension in the room. "My client just really loves to hold onto to his work".

The Rapper just chuckles. He heads into the recording booth and starts to do his thing. Everyone in the room seems to be impressed with how he's flowing on the track. But as for me I'm hating on how he's expressing my deep lyrics like something  shallow. And he keeps putting curse words in my lyrics, when not a single swear word can be found in them.

We spend about three hours in the studio, going through several reruns of the track. My manager and the producers are at it laughing and smoking weed.

And one of the hype men in the room offers me a joint.

"You want some of this good shit", he asks me.

"Nah. I'm anti", I tell him.

"Your loss", he says, soon after pulling the blunt.

We're finally done with this track, and everyone seems to be happy with themselves expect me.

The Rapper comes up to me and asks, "Yoo K. what's up with this part about,

I've made it big in life but only by myself.

I've hit the lottery, but truthfully couldn't afford to share my wealth".

I turn to him and respond, "it's nothing just leave it".

My manager claps his hands and exclaims, "well then I can say it's been a successful session today.  How about some champagne and groupies

Everyone in the room cheers like boys in a crowd when their soccer team is winning. I turn around from them all and make my way back to the car.

The hype man from before yells out, "what are you anti this too"

In a shrugged voice I tell him, "F off".

And I walk out of the studio.
