Capítulo 22: Rocco's Family

Ragar couldn't fathom what Rocco meant by asking for his feelings.

The question itself seemed absurd.

Perhaps the confusion showed on his face because Rocco softened his expression and smiled gently.

"I'm talking about you, Ragar. Since it's about you, the most important thing should be your feelings, right?"

Those words struck something deep within Ragar, leaving him completely undone.

In that moment, he fell utterly and irrevocably for his master.

Ragar vowed then to give everything—his life, his soul—to this small, radiant figure.

He would dedicate his entire existence, even the endless cycles of reincarnation, to Rocco.

This fleeting life was but one chapter in the eternity of his soul's journey, but Ragar knew that in countless cycles of rebirth, none could rival the happiness of this one.

For this reason, he resolved to give everything he had to Rocco, his master.

For a time, Ragar believed, arrogantly, that he was the sole recipient of Rocco's favor.

Rocco, after all, was largely indifferent to most people and things.

While he maintained polite relations with others, he never seemed to truly yearn for deeper connections.

His kind heart was undeniable, but there was a cool detachment to his demeanor—one that seemed to suit someone of the Di Malvento family.

Perhaps it was this very detachment that fed Ragar's complacency.

He never imagined that someone might appear whom Rocco would actively seek to bring into his inner circle.

The person Rocco wanted was a man whispered about with fear—a figure known as "Georgio the Hyena."

From what Ragar had heard, the man was little more than a deranged killer who murdered for pleasure.

Allowing such a dangerous individual near Rocco seemed unthinkable.

Ragar had more than once considered disposing of the man quietly before Rocco could meet him.

But every time he envisioned the disappointment that would cloud Rocco's face, he abandoned the idea.

Eventually, the inevitable day arrived.

For the first time, Rocco left the safety of the family's estate and ventured into the filthy slums.

He passed through the gates of the secondary mansion without hesitation, heading directly toward his goal.

There had been no need for Rocco to go himself—Ragar could have brought the man back within minutes, had he simply been commanded.

Yet, it seemed Rocco's desire to meet "Georgio the Hyena" in person was overwhelming.

Ragar said nothing.

Expressing dissatisfaction or frustration was unthinkable.

He simply followed silently, suppressing any unnecessary words that might pollute Rocco's ears.

When they finally came face to face with the infamous Georgio, Ragar's heart sank as Rocco left his side and approached the man directly.

To make matters worse, Rocco turned to Ragar and ordered him to step back.

"You—become my family!" Rocco declared, his words brimming with unmistakable warmth.

It was a warmth Ragar had never been graced with.

The words, spoken so easily to another, pierced through him like a blade.

Becoming part of Rocco's family was an honor too immense to imagine.

For a murderer raised in the slums to be directly sought out by someone as noble as Rocco, and even offered the esteemed title of "family"—it was unthinkable.
